Praise WWE's 2012!! The best you saw....

Hard Hit Prince

Not really working as a
I've seen here a complaint thread for fans that seem to want to stop watching the product for some godly unknown reason that his favorite wrestlers isn't going the way he wants or that the product isn't TV-14 anymore so it sucks by that and yabadada, random complaints after complaints. So I say it's time to praise the best of 2012 in the WWE. Not vote like the awards for best wrestler and what not, but a look in retrospective that WWE deserves praise for. The thing that really caught you for sometime, and that made you want to see next week's episode.

The little things that gained your attention like the new Raw's design and the creation of WWE Main Event and the Developmental Area (NXT) being moved to a different format. The best debut, the best surprise and the reasons for that. Something you've learned from 2012's WWE Programming that has implications for 2013. It's time we stop being so negative about what we all like to watch.

----------------------------------------------------------

I will start, I believe that Brad Maddox was the most innovative debut in recent years. I don't believe I've ever seen a referee turn into a wrestler before, they did it all flawless in a way that they gave us Maddox in a not rushed form. Even if he isn't one of the most talented guys on the roster, you had to be impressed with the way he debuted he was and still is an interesting character that WWE is giving us slowly.

Ryback was the surprise, he is a star now... He was groomed to it, and even with the fans chanting Goldberg he got himself over with a cool catchphrase that people seemed to love. However, another guy that got immensely over in the beginning of the year is Daniel Bryan, I absolutely loved his match with Sheamus at Extreme Rules, one of the best 2 out of 3 falls match in recent memory in the WWE and very underrated by the fans. Chris Jericho was a great add to the roster in the early 2012, his antics of being against the self-proclaimed best in the world because he was a rip-off gave us some quality television and great matches.

The Raw 1000 also deserves a lot of praise, it was a unique show full of surprises. It had a PPV feeling, with good interactions between The Rock, Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. I also feel that WWE deserves praise in their way to conduct the Intercontinental Championship and making sure people don't get sick and tired of the champions. It's also good to note that A.W's reference about Kobe Bryant was absolutely cool and got a great amount of buzz.

It's your turn, remember it's a spam thread so explain yourself, so give at least three good praises by post :)

WWE in 2012 had some good things and some bad :

The Bad :

  • 2012 Royal Rumble : This years Royal Rumble sucked. The only thing good about it was CM Punk vs Dolph Ziggler.
  • Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan's 18 second World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestlemania....
  • John Cena vs John Laurinitis. This match main-evented Over the Limit PPV instead of the WWE Championship. :disappointed:
  • John Cena and Michael Cole matches
  • Big Show getting fired then returning and turning heel.
  • AJ/Vickie/Cena storyline
  • Miz's Face Turn

The Good :

  • CM Punk's year long title reign.
  • CM Punk's matches with Chris Jericho (expecially their match at Extreme Rules) and Daniel Bryan (Money in the Bank 2012)
  • Brock Lesnar's return : Best return in years
  • Paul Heyman's return
  • RAW 1000 : Best RAW of 2012.
  • JBL returning as a commentator
  • Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns debuting as The Shield.

Ill only have two things I loved about 2012. Kane and DB getting united... and the debut of The Shield. The cam promo was the best promo ive seen since The Pipe Bomb (pg era best)

Before i start, let me get something out of the way, don't get me wrong, i'm not in any way trying to start something bad, i just wanted to let you know that Brad Maddox is not the first referee turn wrestler, there was one time that referee Danny Davis was working together with Jimmy Hart and helping his guys win, and i think that he was fired as a referee, and Jimmy Hart turned him into a wrestler, now, back to the thread, what i like about 2012 is that Dolph Ziggler finally has a feud that i think he deserves, against the WWE's top guy, and they have had some great matches, and they have more to come, also like someone else said, i like the return of Paul Heyman, that will definitly give the edge that the WWE wants to bring to the table, and of course, the arrival of the Shield, i sure hope the WWE does not drop the ball with these guys, and also Antonio Cesaro's push, the guy will definitly become big star.......

CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan; Over the Limit 2012. Absolutely my match of the year.

Daniel Bryan's emergence is by far my favorite story of WWE, as well as Antonio Cesaro and Damien Sandow's rises into stardom.

Best by far has been CM Punk's title reign. I'm very happy to be able to see a title reign like this during my lifetime.

I'll admit I'm a hater of the current WWE product, but this years Wrestlemania was outstanding! You could even feel the electricity carried over to raw the next day, so kudos to them for that

Brock Lesnar returning to Raw on April 2nd was the moment of the year for me. Best pop of the year by the far.

Best match for me was Triple H vs Undertaker at WM, although it wasn't really an amazing match, the storytelling and emotion was edge of the seat stuff.

Best Debut for me was Ryback.

Best Promo/Segment was The Rock talking about John Cena's merchandise and then throwing it piece by piece into the Boston Harbor.

Best Raw has to be Raw1000. CM Punk's heel turn was great.

Paul Heyman sat in the car with CM Punk to end Raw was a good moment.

CM Punk striking a fan was one of the most talked about aspects of the year.

Brock Lesnar vs John Cena at Extreme Rules was probably the most brutal match of the year. Who can forget Brock licking the blood off his gloves.

Breakout Star of the year has to be Daniel Bryan.

Wow, you people hit the pipe WWWWWAAAAAAAYYYYYY to frequently. 2012 IMO is perhaps one of the top 3 WORST years in the WWE.

THE GOOD---------------

Wrestlemania. A classic.

CM Punk. The change of his music and enhancement of his dynamic (not back to a heel persona, but his overall dynamic).

Paul Heyman. The guy is just so good at being an asshole.

Preperation H: His match with Taker was a classic, but the fact that we have not had to see his boring tired ass too much this year is a big thumbs up for me.

Michael Cole: Going back to being a 'straight' announcer after the Lawler heart attack. I think he is very underrated and will continue to flourish as long as they don't try to make him a heel again.

Miz: Turning face? ABOUT TIME! He will be a great face and should eventually chase and secure the title.

AJ: Her ass alone gets a thumbs up.

Resurgence of Tag Teams: Self explanitory.

THE BAD--------------------

Ryback - Boring rip off version of Goldberg. Please leave now.
Brock Lesnar - Who? Oh that's right, that cup of coffee experiment died quick.
Punk - Turning him heel was fucking stupid. Big money to make if kept him face.
Cena - Keeping him a face is fucking stupid. Still big money to make even if heel.
PPV's Other Than Wrestlemania - Did not justify the expenditure.
Shemus- Will somebody please shoot him. Please just STFU; your dull.
Orton - Does anyone have a second bullet? Please go away; your another dull waste.

I'm done now. I'm sure I will get hammered by many of you

The Bad:
Turning CM Punk heel

My highest praise for 2012 goes to the Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena bout in April. The match had the "Attitude" that long time fans have craved and a bit of MMA style mixed in. Lesnar was a beast in the main event; it was must-see television from bell to bell. After the match I was convinced that WWE should go TV-14 for their pay-per-views. Kudos to Cena for agreeing to work such a stiff match.

As Xayver said there was a referee turned wrestler in the '80s Dangerous Danny Davis.
More recently TNA did it in 2009 with Shane Sewell. It's understandable that you may not have seen either of those though given the one was likely before you started watching and the other wasn't very memorable.

To me the biggest highlights of the year involve CM Punks title reign and matches with Daniel Bryan and Jericho as mentioned above, Daniel Bryan and Kane, the return of Paul Heyman and most recently I have enjoyed The Shield.

In my opinion Daniel Bryan should be the superstar of the year. He's entertained me throughout the whole year. He's had some really good matches and he's been one of the most talked about wrestlers this year.

Probably the best thing was Lesnar/Cena. Great great match...except for the ending.

Heyman's return has been great. He is gold on the mic and just his facial expressions tell the story.

Ziggler recently has been amazing on the mic and that tirade to AJ in the locker room was a classic.

Sandow has been consistently the funniest part of Raw in the past month or two and he, unlike Santino, can wrestle.

Cole becoming tolerable after dropping the mega-heel shenanigans and for once in who knows how long is focused on calling the matches instead of nonstop insulting whoever is sitting next to him.

The Shield has been good so far (their best moments have been the promos and the first time they put Ryback through the table) but I have a bad feeling they will get screwed up. Hopefully I'm wrong and they come out of TLC stronger than before and become...ahem...prime time players.

Bryan, Kane, and the Anger Management segments were almost all great. McMahon really made lemonade out of that Charlie Sheen lemon.

Best match - Undertaker/Triple H at WM. Never had me so emotionally invested in a match before. Closely followed by Lesnar/Cena at Extreme Rules for similar reasons.

Best promo - Has to be Anger Management "Shut up Harold".

Breakout Star - Daniel Bryan, has been entertaining and has gotten over no matter what role he's been in. YES!

Other highlights:

Raw 1000 - interesting night and was certainly memorable.

Rock's History Lessons before WM match with Cena - Loved the Boston Harbour segment where he threw the items in the Harbour and the song he did in the second one.

Debut of the Shield - was extremely intriguing and looking forward to seeing what they can do with them.

Damien Sandow - great mic work, love his character, looking forward to what he can do in 2013.

Resurgence of Tag Team, US and IC titles - not quite completed yet but I'm hoping 2013 is the year when all titles become relevant again (including Divas). Cesaro is doing great work with the US title, relevant people are holding the IC title such as Big Show, Rhodes, Kingston, Miz, and hopefully at TLC, Barrett. And they're having Fatal 4-Way Elimination matches to determine who will face the No. 1 Contenders for Tag Teams, fantastic to see.

Miz Face Turn - FINALLY good to see

AJ - best Diva of the year ahead of Eve.

Dolph Ziggler - getting some momentum so hopefully a main event push coming soon.

Lesnar Return - one of the best since Rock last year, great pop and a HOLY S**T chant as well.

NXT getting the new format - was great to see, and we get it on TV in the UK :)

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things and this may not be in chronological order but I'm trying not my best but good enough:

Rock's promos - the Cena/Rock feud did not live up to the hype but Thr Rock's promos were excellent. It was good to see him back doing what he does best.

Jeritroll - after 28ish years of watching this crap there's not much that feels new anymore that actually feels creative. Jericho return was new and creative. He completely devoured the idiocy of the fans obsession with cheering for returning superstars. Even though the guy left the WWE as the biggest heel in WWE why would people assume that he was returning as a face? The fans ate up his trolling and I enjoyed his antics all the way.

Michaels inclusion in HHH/Taker promos - he added so much to that with his past with both men. The promos went from predictable and dull to emotional and entertaining.

HHH/Taker WM 28 - my favorite match of my adult life. So much emotion, such a great brutal ring story with a perfect ending. I even loved Michaels' hokey acting.

Rock beats Cena - the match was fine but the end floored me. Seeing Cena go out of character by going for a People's Elbow followed by The Rock rising up and hitting a Rock Bottom for the win felt shocking.

Lesnar's Return - I would like to see him more often, his promos can suck, and his stories of coming and going has lacked but he's still more exciting to see than most of the regular roster.

Extreme Rules - I've only watched Punk/Jericho, Sheamus/DB, and Lesnar/Cena but I can't remember a time I enjoyed three matches on one card so much. Probably never since I normally only watch one or two full PPV's a year.

Lauranitis - he was terrible at first but really built himself up as a competent jerk of a heel. I was surprised they wrote him out so quickly and have not brought him back.

Kissing AJ - her antics don't always hit but she has created some great moments during the year.

DB - is better in every way. He was the star of the show in the summer and kept the momentum of Raw going on a few occassions by himself.

Raw1000 - great three hours of tv topped off with a big feel main event that ended with a nice swerve.

Tag Division - means something, guys are making teams and seem to value the idea of being tag champs. Tag wrestling is not the greatest thing in the world but it adds something to a card.

Heyman the Purple Headed Chauffeur - his mic work has been fun but the reveal that he picked Punk up and was aligned with Punk was great. Did I mention he can turn his bald head purple?

Sheamus - vastly improved in the ring it seems. He is one of WWE's most consistent performers and I now understand why HHH is so high on him.

Kane/DB - I thought the pairing should be short lived because I enjoyed what DB was doing on his own so much but the pairing has worked very well.

Damien Sandow - I'm so high on this guy. He's a hilarious dirt bag who wins me over with facial expressions and ring antics.

Damien Sandow Break Up A Pin - Damien Sandow through his body under a ref's arm so that his tag partner would not be pinned and lose. Creative and something I can't remember ever seeing before.

Kofi's Kick to Miz's Face - what impact and shot with a quick camera cut. And Miz was fine aferward.

Powerhouses - I'm not big on Ryback or Cesaro but both guys have some impressive power.

Cena - he's corny and still somewhat overexposed but he's been in a good place this year and doing good work in the ring and out.

TV P4 - right now I like the balance WWE has grown in to in order to not be so much 2011 PG but not be the AE and Ruthless Aggression Era that I have to be so embarassed to watch this crapfest we call professional wrestling.

2012 in WWE has seen a lot of good. The problem is it gets balanced out by all the bad. Anyway, I digress and I'll go down the best things of this year:

CM Punk's Year Long Title Reign

Cena NOT hogging the title scene

Wrestlemania 28, which is, bottom line, one of the top 10 WM's of all time

CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan

Rock vs. Cena

HHH vs. Undertaker, and the gradual weaning of HHH off the air and into the backstage productions

Tag Team division is back!

The Shield

Rise of Ryback, a face who could finally rival Cena

Return of Paul Heyman and his alliance with Cm Punk

JBL returning to commentary

AJ's "crazy chick" gimmick

Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Damien Sandow and Antonio Cesaro's pushes

Miz's face turn

Big Show's last hurrah with the WHC

RAW 1000 as a whole

The CM Punk/Mark Henry series

CM Punk/Big Johnny feud before it was given to Cena

Return of Brock Lesnar and his match with Cena

The epic promos between Rock and Cena (especially the 3rd Rock Concert, classic)

Team Hell No, Prime Time Players, and the rise of other tag teams

The end of heel Michael Cole, thank God

There's a lot of great stuff that's already been said, so I'm going to try to think outside the square a little, although there's some obvious ones I'll have to mention.

NXT revamp - I've been fortunate enough here in Australia to get NXT since day one, but the revamp has made it essential viewing. Seth Rollins, Leo Kruger, Kassius Ohno, Richie Steamboat etc are worth tuning in to every week, and William Regal on commentary is gold.

The slow build is back - sure Ryback has been thrown into the main event too quickly, but the slow build of Sandow and Cesaro has me pretty excited about the main event picture in 2014. Both of these guys are gold, and it's good to see they're not being thrown into the top end too quickly. (I hope we see a new Jack Swagger in 2013 as an aside)

Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel - worth watching every single time

Big Show as heel - being the monster he really should be - feels like 2000 again

Team Hell No - I know it's been said a bunch, but just fantastic chemistry. I think Kane is almost the most versatile character in WWE history now.

Brodus Clay (for a while) - the most unexpected debut for a long long time. It needs a tweak now, and I sure loved his original NXT gimmick - maybe there can be a merge of the two next year. Great potential still I think.

Dean Ambrose - I'm with LaBar on this one

And of course CM Punk becoming the longest reigning champ in 25 years - an achievement that can't be understated - we'll be talking about this in another 25 years I reckon.

Wrestlemania-Definetly the PPV of the year

CM Punk's WWE Title run and Heel turn-How the hell anyone can call this a bad thing clearly has no brain or any idea what they are talking about.

RAW 1000-This delivered big time with the DX Reunion, the 1st interaction with The Rock & CM Punk,Lita,APA,Brothers of Destruction, and other Legends all coming back for the night.

Daniel Bryan-This guy turned into a bonified Superstar proving everyone wrong that guys who are not "products" of Vince can make it in the WWE.

The Miz's Face Turn

Paul Heyman's Return and the right hand man of CM Punk.

Sheamus-Ive enjoyed his stuff this year and his latest Feud with Big Show.

Micheal Cole-He gets tons of crap for whatever reason and I just don't understand it. The way he handled King's situation I have nothing but mad respect for him.

John Cena vs The Rock-I know it started in 2011 but their Feud this year going into Wrestlemania was pretty well done.

King's Return-We almost lost a True Legend and Im glad he is back.

JBL's Return to Commentary

The Shield's Debut at Survivor Series

AJ-Probably the most over WWE Diva since Trish or Lita

Ryback-Call him a Goldberg ripoff or whatever but he has become a Superstar. People always clamor for New guys well here's one right here.

Dolph Ziggler-One guy who has deserved a push and is getting it in his Feud with John Cena.

Brock Lesnar's Return

Booker T as Smackdown GM

Undertaker vs HHH-MOTY,it told a Story and had emotion. HBK played his part very well and had me on the edge of my seat.

Tag Division revamp and Team Hell No

Antonio Cesaro's push and Wade Barrett's resurgence

John Cena & Randy Orton still going strong. Some can bag on them but you can't deny they are there almost every week. Respect to both guys.

NXT's revamp

Damien Sandow-This guy is awesome.

Big Show getting another World Title run and Kofi's latest IC Title run.

Overall, 2012 was a good year for me and one of my favourite PG Era years. Certainly has its ups and downs.

The GOODs

- CM Punk's year long title reign
- Y2J's Return
- The whole of Raw 1000. Epic start to finish
- The Rock Concert
- End of an Era
- Dolph Ziggler - Big swing on me since I hated the guy at the beginning of 2012 and now I love watching his matches. Particularly selling moves!
- The Elimination Chamber Debate (R-Truth stood out big time)
- Kane and Daniel Bryan. Provided the "E" for me this year!
- CM Punk vs Y2J and also the Daniel Bryan Rivalry
- The Rock vs John Cena - lived up to its hype and was happy Rocky won it
- CM Punk's awesome heel turn
- The Miz turning face
- R-Truth's funny segments
- Debuts of Damien Sandow, Antonio Cesaro and The Shield
- JBL back on commentary
- Jerry Lawler recovering from a heart attack
- The revamp of the tag team division
- YES YES YES (and NO NO NO!)

The BADs

- Big Show's 100th heel turn
- Disappointing elimination chamber matches
- Santino's US Title reign
- Zack Ryder still has a job
- 18 second match between Sheamus and Daniel Bryan
- Alberto Del Rio vs Sheamus nearly every PPV this year
- Anything to do with Brock Lesnar (apart from Heyman)
- Miz jobbing for months
- Most PPVs early in 2012 ending with any John Cena match in it.
- Drew McInytre, Ted DiBiase and Jack Swagger being wasted - such great talents who are not being utilised properly
- Diva's division is still pretty crappy.

For me:

1. Wrestling being important again. Both the three hour RAW and Main Event (and to a lesser extent) gave us a steady diet of really good matches, the likes we haven't had in many years in WWE. So much so that it's been a little discouraging to see so much criticism of WWE lately: yes, the storylines could stand considerable improvement, but the matches count, dammit!

2. Titles matter. Punk's reign, the fallout over Bryan's defeat, the renewed emphasis on the tag belts and the mid-card titles is really encouraging to me. Titles should be the heart of storytelling in pro wrestling, and getting back to them is a really welcome development.

3. New stars. I had heard that Cesaro was a standout, so his emergence didn't come as a surprise, though he's bercome the one wrestler whose matches I make a point to watch. Sandow, on the other hand, was a total bolt from the blue to me, and I love him to bits. Ryback is a great monster face.

Once again, let me praise RAW 1000's interaction between the old and new stars. It really felt like a passing of the torch to have the Rock in the same ring with Punk and Bryan, and DX going after Sandow, and the Undertaker tombstoning folks left and right.

4. Fun. AJ, Daniel Bryan, and Kane have, over the course of the year, brought a lot of humor to the WWE. I didn't appreciate Santino as champion, but he's very entertaining when he's used correctly, as are Ryder and R-Truth. Most wrestling humor falls flat; this year, like Mae Young's hand, it felt a little more grown up and I actually laughed. The Rock and Jericho's returns weren't always successful, but they did have their moments (the Rock concert, Jericho's advice on catchphrases). And Sandow is a great comic heel. Thank you.

5. An edge. Okay. It's not PG-13. I don't want the worst excesses of the Attitude era again, but I'll gladly take things like Shamus's best of three match with Bryan, Brock bloodying Cena, Stephanie's killer promo with Heyman, the Shield's Joker promo.

I think WWE is going in a good direction. They need to relax and work on building stronger, long-term stories, rather than react to the ratings and overthink things, and a strong diva's division would be nice. but I'm pretty optimistic that they can build on the year. I'm really looking forward to the Rock's return at Royal Rumble and the possibilities for Wrestlemania, and I haven't always been able to say the latter.

I felt that Punk turning face(iwc) at Raw1000 was setting up the rumble which will be great. Lesnar's return was great as the tag team of Kane and Daniel Bryan which to me stole the show this year considering they both made AJ. Kane really makes comical tag teams.

Pretty much Daniel Bryan in anything. The support Bryan got in the Raw after Wrestlemania was great. He had great matches with everyone he was in a rivalry with. My favourite match of the year is Kane vs Daniel Bryan at Summerslam, it was a short match but Kane was fantastic at keeping pace with Bryan the entire time. They showed that a match that clocks in under 10 minutes can still tell a great story. He (along with the pretty much always underrated Kane) singlehandedly lit a spark in the Tag Division just a month after that match. I always liked Daniel Bryan, but this year he became the reason to continue watching Raw each week.

I think the best match of the year could possibly be the main event at TLC, 6 people and all those weapons should be exciting.

I think the best thing I saw all year, maybe one of the best things I've ever seen in wrestling, was the reaction Daniel Bryan got the night after Mania. To say I was disappointed in how his match with Sheamus went down would be an understatement. That was the reason I ordered Mania. I've been a fan of his since way, way back in the day so for me to see him finally wrestling on the biggest stage of them all and for the WHC, that was more exciting than the Rock coming back. Then it turns out to be the opener which is kind of shocking, but the fans have tons of yes signs and are going bananas when Bryan comes out so I'm pumped. What happened next was a travesty. I can't remember feeling more cheated watching wrestling. The rest of the show was pretty good don't get me wrong, but man was I bummed. I felt bummed for Bryan too. The year before he gets bumped off the main card at Mania at the last minute and ends up wrestling in the pre-show, and then this year's shit show. I didn't see much light at the end of the tunnel for him following that. I kinda figured this was Vince's way of getting one up on the little vegan that could and everyone on the internet, before jobbing him to the moon, making him pretend to be ******ed for three months and then future endeavoring his ass. Thank jebus for that crowd the following night on Raw though. They let their voices be heard and that night Daniel Bryan became a made man.

Other than that, just off the top of my head and in no particular order some of the moments that stick out would be: Kane telling his life story, Vader vs. Slater and CM Punk showing the Rock who's boss at the end of the 1000th episode of Raw. Lesnar returning was cool, but other than that first night, whatever.

Team Hell No have to be the biggest and best surprise of the last year for me. I never really thought it was going to work, But they have become the main reason to tune in every week to watch the show. They have great chemistry together and it has not been since the days of DX that I have Laughed so much watching Raw or Smackdown.

WWE bringing back paul Hayman was a fantastic Idea. you just can't help but hate the guy and I hope WWE give him his own Stable in 2013 to help get some of the younger guys on the roster over.

Another thing I loved about 2012 has to be the storyline involving Heath Slater and all the returning Legends. Slater sold it so well and it was great seeing all the legends peform one last time.

Having JBL back on the announce table has been another treat this year. I know he only originally return because of what happened to the King, but its nice to see he has stuck around.

Since you want three events, I'll pick the introductions of Damien Sandow and Ryback; the first for the force generated by his personality and the other for the impact created by his physical look. Both men are terrific examples of what the oft-maligned WWE writers can come up with.

For me, the best thing in 2012 was the development of A.J. Lee. What an idea! They took the most adorable little performer in the company and gave her a whacko, yet compelling personality that reverberated throughout the men's division, causing discomfort even to CM Punk as well as other guys who were discombobulated by her actions.

This year, if there was a diva whom WWE intended to make a big splash, I think it was Eve. She started as a "perhaps" girlfriend to Zack Ryder, soon to become a betrayer of same. Then, she was a pseudo-executive, trying to worm her way into Booker T's hierarchy....but only after donning eyeglasses and a dress to try and take over Raw. Yet, with all that, A.J. overshadowed Eve, and how nice it was to see a diva make such an impact on the company, not by being an irritant (like Vickie Guerrero) but with solidly written segments. The writers took the old psycho routine of Mickie James and expanded it.

I'll admit Creative went off-track when they made A.J. general manager of Raw; she was miscast as an executive; they needed her as a misguided, lovestruck femme fatale.....and got back to it in a big way this past month.

The build-up going into The Rock versus John Cena, the match itself and The Rock's promo the night after Wrestlemania. Daniel Bryan skyrocketing up the metaphorical WWE ladder, his entire character and the progress it has made, coinciding with the "YES!" and "NO!" chants. Sheamus' World Heavyweight Championship reign which featured some of the top (and underrated) matches of the year, still in love with him and Show from Hell in a Cell.

Ryback's debut, character and rise. Loved him from the moment I saw him, hes built like a machine, treated like a machine and basically is a machine, this coinciding with his quest to feed on CM Punk and become WWE Champion. CM Punk's reign as WWE Champion - certain parts more-so than it as an entity, but I've enjoyed it - Paul Heyman's return as both an on-screen character and manager. The build-up to Triple H versus Brock Lesnar at Summerslam, very intense build.

End of an Era match, countless matches from pay-per-view most of which are balloted in the match of the year category. Mick Foley's promos, The Shield, Damien Sandow, Christian returning to win the IC Championship (his reign was meh, but that night was awesome), Chris Jericho's run, CM Punk versus Daniel Bryan; I could go on, despite it not being one of the best years in history I feel there has been much more good than bad.

Im also going to throw in the YES & NO Chants being another good thing from 2012. Who thought that would have caught on following Wrestlemania.
