PPV's need the "it" factor.

WWE PPV's have been getting low buy-rates for a while, steadily going further down & down. I'd back it up with data, but I can't be bothered to look it up. But everyone knows it's true.

There's only one PPV that the WWE produces which makes people feel like they're going to miss something unless they buy it; WrestleMania. The only other one which comes close is the Royal Rumble, only due to the Rumble match. But fair enough.

But what about the other PPV's? SummerSlam is supposed to be the 2nd biggest PPV of the year, but it's stale. Storylines are done about 3 weeks in advance to the PPV. Matches aren't built up enough, and there isn't enough promotion to make it feel so.

The B PPV's, if you will, are even worse. Matches are put on the card randomly. But they're not built like a big PPV, like they should be. I'm not saying heavily promote every PPV, but better storylines are needed.

Each PPV should feel special, and that you're going to miss a big match if you don't watch it. Sure, it's very, very hard to do this for every PPV, but surely it could be done for over half of them. The main event match should be announced around 3 weeks in advance. The PPV poster should centre around the superstars involved, like a boxing poster. Give it that big match feel.

Anyway, anyone agree? Disagree? Go on, tell me my views are completly wrong.

i wish WWE would go back to just having the 4 big shows WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series back in 1998 those 4 ppvs were always the best the whole year i remember the first ppv i saw was SummerSlam 1998 and it was just amazing and i was in awww for every match, and you also had the IN YOUR HOUSE PPVS i just wish we could go back to that cuz a ppv was about every 2 months i think

What PPV's need is a main feud to build up to them. Make the two opponents be involved with each other as much as possible to increase the feud and makes you want to see the match.

Another thing PPV's could use are the different sets for each. WCW had different sets or settings that made each PPV special and had that big event feeling. Each show seems the same with the same set, just a Raw with title matches on it.

And they need more time between them. Look at the last PPV Bragging Rights, they had had 4 or 3 weeks to build up to a new PPV. You need more time to make each match have enough heat to make you want to spend 40$ on 5 matches. I had no interest in buying Bragging Rights or even watching it at Justin's house, 3 of the matches had no point to them! Why would I want to pay to watch them if I could just read the results.

PPV's need to be revamped and rescheduled, not just given gimmicks.

The main reason, in my view, why the buyrates of PPV's are, on the whole, decreasing is because there's too many of them. Realistically, you can't expect the average wrestling fan to pay £40 (is it $60 in America?) every three weeks to watch a PPV, they simply can't afford it, particularly in these times of economic hardship. So why the WWE has over-saturated the amount and quality of PPV's, when it might turn some people away from the product, is quite frankly beyond me.

I believe that there should be the four main PPV's (Wrestlemania, Survivor Series, Summerslam, Royal Rumble) and maybe have one PPV in between them, which makes 8 PPV's in all. The ones in between the main four would have some bearing on what happens at the main PPV, for example an Elimination Chamber focused PPV to see who qualifies for Wrestlemania, Number 1 Contender matches and so on.

The other benefit this would have, aside from reducing the strain in the fans' wallets, would be to give an untested Superstar such as MVP, or the Miz, a title shot on a 'lesser' PPV, just to see how they do.

Feel free to criticise me, agree with me, whatever.

Watching a PPV, even when I was younger, seemed like such a huge thing. They were special, and you just HAD to stay awake to watch them, despite them not finishing until 4AM and you having school the next morning.

Now, maybe it's just me getting older, but I don't have that same sense of excitement, aside from with Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series, which are my 3 favourite shows. I think this is likely because every 3-4 weeks we have this 'special' event, so the power of the big 4 is diluted. Can you imagine the excitement if there were only 4-6 shows a year? I'm not usually one to criticise WWE, but this is one thing I definitel think needs changing. The excitement needs to come back.

Well the number of PPVs is irrelevant when WWE fails to establish strong feuds and hype behind their PPVs besides Wrestlemania. I would like it to go back to less PPVs so they have more time to build up for it and so there is more excitement and hype behind it. I hate the new gimmick PPVs as well, it just ruins the match type. After HIAC I didn't want to watch another HIAC match for the next year.

They ABSOLUTELY should feel special. In my opinion they don't because their is just too many of them.

Let me compare two sports so you can get an idea of why I say that.

Major League Baseball: Has 162 regular season games that for the most part the average fan will care about but not stress over until the season is on the line. Meaning less buy rates, ratings PERIOD per game.

National Football League: 16 game regular season where EVERY SINGLE game carries meaning and MORE fan fair. Which to me is why the NFL is so friggin popular.

Basically if they skip a month, maybe do every other month there is a PPV it would become more effective, which would give it that more special feeling you and I think they should have.

I think we have to put this into a realistic perspective...

Although ideally I would love to see 8 ppv's a year, building great feuds etc. It simply won't happen. McMahon saw starting in the Attitude era that people do buy ppv's and made great money putting on 1 a month. Especially in these economical crisis times, a company that is losing money is nto going to reduce these ppv's without radically putting up prices to cover money lost elsewhere.

Ideally a couple of ppv's will be dropped to about ten or eleven then it still won't be overly expensive for us but still raising money for him!

I say 12 a year. here are my custom.

Royal Rumble w/ rumble
No Escape w/ chamber
Wrestlemania w/ money in the bank
Blackout w/ last man standing
Annihilation w/ first blood, street fight, extreme rules
King of the Ring w/ kotr
Scrambling Hell w/ scramble and hell in a cell
Summerslam w/ inferno or 4 way dances
Impact w/ 2 of 3, submission and i quit
Locked Up w/ punjabi prison
Survivor Series w/ ss tag, 3 way tag, sd vs raw vs ecw
Metal Mayhem w/ cage and tlc

12 a year would increase in money probably but more build to the ppv
