Post your favorite Instrumentals

This is a thread for Instrumentals, Not songs that have lyrics. Songs can be posted that have had the lyrics chopped out of them, but I want them kept to a minimum. I love Instrumentals, hearing them without the singer really proves to me what a band can do. It gives you a clear train of mind on just the playing. Some bands that have a few Instrumentals come out with really great songs but the playing just goes up a notch with Instrumentals.

Here we go!

All that remains- Regret not

I love the Swamp Song. Oasis opened most gigs with it, as it was a great way to check all the equipment was working properly etc before going into their hits. It shows what the band is all about IMO, and never failed to get the crowd bouncing.

Great track

I thought this song was awesome on the album Ride the Lightning. But they brought it to a whole new level during the S&M Concert by adding an orchestra to the mix and making it even better than the album version. So here is The Call of Ktulu by Metallica.

King Crimson's "Red" makes for killer driving music. Robert Fripp can be an arrogant ass, but he knew how to write crushing riffs and his trio of instrumental compositions from the mid-1970s proves it. On that note, "Fracture" and "Larks Tongues in Aspic Part II" are also quite stunning.

Mogwai is one of the great post-rock bands. "Hunted by a Freak" is not their best song, but it's certainly one of the most haunting in their catalog, even inspiring me to write a short story at one point. It is an instrumental that can evoke a lot of different emotions.

Isis' album Panopticon is epic and sweeping in nature. "Altered Course" would make for a crushing finale and, in my opinion, should have been the last track on the album. It's brutally repetitive at first, but simmers out perfectly at the end, leaving the listener in calm serenity.

I love this song. Suicide and Redemption is my favorite track off of death magnetic. The song just fits with all that metallica used to do, like The Call of Kthulu and Orion.

Miles Davis-Time after Time

Everyone remembers the Cyndi Lauper originial, and the 25 subsequent covers. I thought Miles cover was best when he did it strictly as an instrumental song. Even without the words, you can feel the emotion through the music. He had recorded an entire album of pop song covers, but only released this one and a Michael Jackson cover.

Metallica - Call of Cthulu (S&M)

Yes, I posted the S&M performance, because I think it's much better than the studio version, which nonetheless is still a great performance.

I like the whole thing that it can serve both as something sorta soothing, as well as it can serve as something to get you ready for a fantastic show like S&M were. I've always liked this performance quite a lot, and the S&M performance as a whole adds a lot to the song due to the orchestra complimenting the song so well.
