Popular Music and Vagina Colorization

I don't search out music. I never really did. I enjoyed a multitude of artists in my younger years but it all was put in front of me on dull days flipping through MTV (MTV used to play music videos) or sitting in the car and just listening to what was presented to me on the radio. I would occassionally find something new through a friend that was really in to a band but for me I didn't search anything out.

So today my exposure is pretty much in the 15 minutes a day I spend going back and forth to the train station. I have Sirius XM and I am mostly jumping between the 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, a couple hip LA and NY stations and Lite FM. I don't have the time and patience to look for anything else. Most of the new stuff I hear either doesn't appeal to me or is by someone I am not terribly familiar with and will never hear from again (a one or two hit wonder).

That brings me to my point. The one artist that stands out to me that is consistently putting out popular and enjoyable music to me is Pink. There, I admittted it. I hated her when she first appeared. Get this Party Started is about as empty and vapid as anything since I Like Big Butts. But that's ok. She has made up for it with some popwerful songs that I can't help but enjoy. While others like Jay-Z seem to be running on nothing more than name recognition and Kanye West puts out 5 shit bombs for one sampled classic Pink is just consistently making music I like.

Even worse I would say Train is second. Go fuck yourselves Maroon 5! Am I wrong? Is there a popular artist that has been better over the last 8 - 10 years? Is this my age showing? My vagina? Who betta? Or are y'all too cool for Kiss FM type shit? What do you think of Pink?

I hated hated hated Pink until just recently when her and Nate Ruess from FUN put out that duet Just Give Me a Reason. I am guessing I am about your age GSB, and that song dare I say chokes me up everytime. Since then every song she has put out has caught my attention. I never thought she would be someone I would listen to but I now find myself doing just that. As far as Train goes 50 ways to say good bye is one of the most clever songs to come out in a long time. I find myself cracking up when I hear it and it is quite catchy. Soul Sister is another that I still enjoy listening to, and they have been very very consistent for as you said the last 8 or 10 years. So you must be right we must just be getting old and becoming girls. I wish you would have told me this was going to happen sooner.

I've got a lot of time for Pink. Her early stuff seemed a bit bi-polar as one single would be about going out with no worries and having fun, then the next would be about not having a stable relationship. She did a lovely duet with City and Colour at a live gig which cemented her as a good egg to me.

I've grown to appreciate Justin Timberlake in the last couple of years. He may have been a noodle-haired d-bag looking prick when he was younger, but then, weren't we all? His songs are catchy, relatively nicely written and the man himself seems to have a good sense of humour.

I was never a fan of her music in the early 2000's when she first came around but I always thought she was hot. I still think so.
I haven't heard her new stuff so I can't really say if it's good or not.
She did a song with Eminem on his album that I liked though.

Pink has been the most consistent, no denying that. She has catchy hooks and most of her singles have been enjoyable. She just goes unnoticed because of artists like Katy Perry, who has fallen off the deep end despite her sex appeal and Lady Gaga, who is always doing some weird shit to make up for the fact that the musical difference between her and other female pop stars is almost none. I would put Pink along with Timberlake and Mars in the pop stars category.

While others like Jay-Z seem to be running on nothing more than name recognition and Kanye West puts out 5 shit bombs for one sampled classic

Jay-Z has become the master of filler albums, which is what happened to Kanye. It's a shame though, because up until Graduation, I loved getting that new Kanye album.

Pink does have a few songs that I like and listen to but other than that, I listen to Katy Perry and other artists that peak my interest.
