Pokemon Heartgold and Soulsilver doubt

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you here play these two games on a DS emulator. I have heard that it is not possible to use the pokewalker unless you own the game. Is it so?

Please note I am not asking for a rom or an emulator and so please do not post any links here. I am just asking whether it is possible to use the pokewalker feature when we play the rom on an emulator. I haven't played the game yet but I do have played almost all games of the Pokemon franchise upto Pokemon Platinum.

Please post if you have some information regarding this.

I really don't see how that's possible. What are you going to do, point the Pokéwalker at the emulator and hope it works?

If you're using an emulator on your computer, then it's not going to work. From my understanding, the Pokéwalker only works with the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi.

If I were you, I'd just get the game on DS and save yourself the trouble. DS and PS1 emulators are amongst the hardest emulators to set up, obviously excluding the major consoles such as PS2, PS3, Xbox and Xbox 360 emulators.

I haven't played Pokémon Soul Silver or Pokémon Heart Gold, I just bought Soul Silver for my girlfriend around the time it was released. She said it's an awesome game though. Personally, I enjoy the original Gold and Silver's compared to the newer ones. It just adds abit more nostalgia when playing. Not to mention that the creator of Pokémon has now died, so get as much 'original' as you can.

Hmm okay I was hoping there was some software like a virtual pokewalker or something but I guess that is not the case.

But I dunno when you say that DS and PS1 emulators are hard to set up. I have them both. NO$GBA for DS and ePSXe for PS1 and they both work fine on my system. I like Gold and Silver the best too. Could be because of a huge story arc which includes the Johto as well as the Kanto region.
