Point in having a draft?

Even though WWE said 3 weeks ago the Draft would have stricter rules on appearences, we saw Undertaker, Swagger, Christian, Michelle & Layla on last nights Raw.

It really does have a detrimental effect on the Brand Warfare they like to play out. Its meaningless! I wanna see Wrestlers appear on their own shows only and just have isolated appearences to make them mean more!

Any Raw vs Smackdown storylines just seem pointless. They are all WWE in my eyes.

How often does that happen? Don't you think there's a reason they all happened on the same night? Would you rather it happened every week but with just one person?

It was a commercial free RAW, they tried to give it the PPV feel. It was a special event. I assure you next time there is a three hour RAW they will have smackdown talent.

And personally, I don't care who appears on what brand, as long as its entertaining.

Are you realy complaining about this? I went nuts when christian came out. I never expected him to face edge last night. The last thing I wouldve thought is hey hes on smackdown now how stupid. Its not like they have smackdown talent crossover every week they only do it for special occasions. Just enjoy it last night was great. I dont see anything to complain about. Having a draft keeps the already over exposed raw main eventers from being on tv twice a week. Be thankful for that.

It does seem to diminish the point of the draft since sd talent seem to appear on raw quite often, i know it was a commercial free raw so they were doing something special, but still the draft is supposed to seperate the rosters and keep all the superstars brand exclusive. :appart from the tag champs ofcourse.

Although raw last night was a pretty good show IMO other than Bret Hart winnin the US title which i thought was rediculious, thats for another thread though. It was a good show but i think like the OP said the sd vs raw story lines that they try to play out once a year or so, probably at bragging rights, i think all superstars should be brand exculsive because without this the draft does seem meaningless.

I agree with this. Why even have a draft? Just merge brands if it makes a more entertaining show. Honestly Undertaker has appeared on raw three times since wrestlemania. How many times has he appeared on smackdown since wrestlemania? Zero. Last time I checked he was a member of the smackdown brand. Its like I said if you need smackdown stars to make raw entertaining then merge brands.

Why are you guys making this out to be such a big deal?? Quite frankly, my answer to the original poster's question would be WHO GIVES A SHIT?

Don't you guys want to see a more exciting Raw program? Don't you want the return of shock value to television? That's what they are doing here. It's not like the Undertaker, Christian, LayCool, and Swagger are permanently going to be on both shows now. They made ONE FUCKING APPEARANCE.

Like I said in the aftermath thread, I see last night's commercial-free Raw from Toronto as payback for screwing the Canadian fans out of a PPV, a pro-wrestling angle, and screwing their national icon on live television. They deserved every bit of what transpired on last night's show, and it was probably the best Raw of the decade. But of course, dumb ass holes still want to chop it down, go through it with a fine-toothed comb, and take away all of it's glory because they broke the barrier of a technicality?!?

Get over it and just enjoy the fucking show.

Crossing brands does not happen all the time. It occasionally will occur for special events and the crowds love the surprises. It is good to create a splash on each show. I do wish they would do more for Smackdown because it has better wrestling in my opinion, but gets less press.

My real complaint with the draft is they no longer have it on both shows. Imagine knowing all the talent will be on both shows not knowing where they will end up? I miss that alot and would keep the drama going for both shows. Instead, the Draft happens on Raw only and there is a lame supplemental draft hardly anyone mentions on tv. That is my biggest complain with the draft personally, not the occasional appearances on other shows.

With the WWE, it doesn't matter what the draft says, a special Monday Night Raw will always feature Smackdown stars....Raw has more special episodes than Smackdown, last I can remember for Smackdown was Decade of Smackdown back in October of last year...It's what WWE does, pus it's good and you can really get surprised..

baldjedi made me think. I do believe that the Draft should happen on both shows. Imagine a week of top quality cross brand matches with the best competitors trying to get a win and a draft pick for their respective brand. SmackDown should host the draft the same week as RAW. One thing I haven't seen in a long time is have a big pick from SmackDown move to RAW only to get drafted again to SmackDown on Friday. You could have the guys sitting in the locker room waiting to get drafted celebrating on Monday, only to have glum faces on SmackDown.

But nonetheless the point of the Draft is still there. They don't cross brands all that often. If I was gonnna have an argument, it's that the cross branding that happened last night seemed just a little bit early considering the Draft was only about a month ago.

This is really quite pointless. I think you're all forgetting that Smackdown is a pre-recorded television program. The results of the Smackdown version of the draft will leak onto the internet and take all of the shock value out of the program.

The reason it has always been held on Raw is because Raw is a live show.
