Pizza

I remember a fairly popular thread in the spam section back when The Bar Room still existed, it was just a simple discussion about pizza. I thought we'd try it here. Just remember that the spam rules are in effect.... So here are some questions about pizza.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?

My favorite is Peperoni Lovers from Pizza Hut. I never turn down extra Peperonis because it makes it taste that much better. To me pizza is not pizza without the peperonis! My favorite crust is stuffed crust due to it being one of the few types of crust I'll eat, AND it has cheese in it! Whoever invented that was a genius. To me, Raw and Stuffed Crust Peperoni Lovers pizzas used to go hand in hand.... back when I could afford to do it weekly. Monday nights meant it was time to order in a pizza to eat during Raw! I'm brand loyal to both Pizza Hut and Dominoes. I actually like Dominoes better than Pizza Hut though thanks to their new crust style and having more options that I like. All that they are missing is that stuffed crust option.... If only.... My strangest topping experiment was probably a tombstone Peperoni pizza with Garlic and Chocolate. It was spicy, sticky, and amazing. Granted I had to chug a bottle of water afterwards and wipe off with a large paper towel, but it was a fun pizza experiment that I'd do again, I recommend it if you like chocolate or spices but let the chocolate melt on the pizza when it's done, don't cook it with it. One of my former roomies made that mistake when I had recommended this type of pizza to them.

So let's hear some pizza stories from the rest of you. Well?

1. Mine has to be pepperoni. Not a fan really of any other than this and BBQ pizzas.

2. I prefer thin crust.

3. I usually order from Dominos because there's no Pizza hut delivery near me so it's my only option. It's still awesome though.

4. One time when eating a pizza with a couple of friends one of them dared me to put a grape on top. I accepted the challenged and it was the most horrible thing I've ever tasted I was almost sick. Pizza has never been the same since and sometimes I can remember the taste in my mouth and I get shivers. Don't ever try that lmao.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?
I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for just pepperoni on my pizza as that's how I've eaten it ever since childhood. But as I grew older, I liked my pizzas to be heartier so I would order my pizzas with various other meats like sausage, hamburger meat, and/or bacon. When I turned ten, I also began taking a liking to having green peppers on my pizza which is something I didn't think to do when I was younger. I was naive and I actually thought the green peppers were green worms. :p

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?
Hrm. I don't typically eat any special crust. I've eaten thin crust but it was never enough for me (because I love to eat so much haha). I've eaten stuffed crust and I loved it. The concept of crust stuffed with cheese blew my mind as a kid and it still makes me happy today. I remember watching commercials as a kid in which people would eat their pizzas backwards when the crust was stuffed. Ahh nostalgia.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?
Nah, not really. I just get pizza from wherever I can get it. As of now, the closest pizza place to my home is Lil' Caesar's. A lot of people give it mixed reviews but I personally enjoy it. The pizzas are always hot and ready to eat by the time I get there so I can easily come in and out without much hassle.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?
Personally, I've never done any experimenting when it comes to pizza but my friend Brian does. He called it the Big Baby. It involved taking whatever you had in the fridge whether or not it made sense to put on a pizza and actually use it as a topping on said pizza. This is the only image I have of the Big Baby pizza Brian did but it was from about three years ago.

I prefer my pizza's simple. Not really a fan of plucking out what falls off the tray. I do however enjoy mine with some chicken bits on or beef. I have tried experimenting with them. Adding Hot Dogs on top instead of how Pizza Hut does them.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?

I like a simple pizza pretty much. I usually hate anytype of meatlovers, vegi lovers, or anytype of mixed toppings. I eat either pepperoni or cheese. Or pepperoni with two other toppings of cheese and more cheese.

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?

Thick crist. If stuffed crust is available then I will get that, but I like the thick crust so I can roll my pizza up like borrito and eat it. I hate thin crust. No flavor.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?

Papa John's. Better then the rest of them shitty places. They fix the perfect pizza.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?

No. I hate experimenting with my pizza. Pepperoni all the way.

My roommates and I order pizza pretty much once a week. I'm sure that's probably terrible for us but the life of college students beckons...

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why? Pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers. I know a lot of people hate mushrooms but I LOVE them, especially on pizza. This combo of toppings in particular tastes so good but I'm really not too picky about what's on my pizza.

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why? Pizza Hut stuffed crust is the greatest thing ever but I prefer to order stuffed crust when I actually go out for dinner at the Hut, that way it's all fresh and perfect. It's just the perfect consistency - a little bit of crunch with gooey cheese inside. SO GOOD.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not? My favourite has always been Pizza Hut but it's also the most expensive so I usually get Pizza Pizza. Cheaper, still tastes good, and there's one not far from where I live so when it's nice out I can just walk and pick it up.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried At Pizza Pizza (and I know Delissio sells one too) there's a bacon cheeseburger pizza. It's amazing but I really have to be in the mood for it because it's such a distinct taste.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?

The nod goes to Pepperoni and Italian Sausage for me. I like to use beef as well, but there's only one place in my are that uses real ground beef instead of that precooked shit so I don't use it very often. I really don't use vegetables much either, though I will make an exception for green peppers. Onions, mushrooms, olives, and tomatoes all disgust me. As for why, I don't really know how to answer that. I just like it.

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?

I'm not too picky, I just don't really care for thin crusts or any kind of crispy shit. I like my crust soft, with more of a bread like texture. Stuffed crust is boss too, though all that cheese usually comes back to bite me in the ass. Literally.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?

It's Pizza Hut all the way for me. Domino's, Papa John's, and Little Ceaser's are all acceptable substitutes, but I go for Pizza Hut every time. They're the only ones whose cheese doesn't completely suck. My first job was at this local Pizza joint called Funhouse Pizza. I worked there for 2 damn years, and I absolutely hate the food with a passion now.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?

Not really. I'm a really plain eater for the most part so I don't have the urge to try a lot of weird shit. I had my own special way of making my pizza though. I would take the crust and put a layer of Pepperoni down first, then I would spread the sauce, then I would take a bunch of ground beef, pinching it in little bits and covering it. I throw it in the oven and when the beef is thoroughly cooked, I take it out and cover it with a mass amount of cheese. I loved it.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?

1. Pepperoni and meatballs are my favorite. Unfortunately, not a lot of places near me offer meatballs as a topping. Great combination. Screw vegetables.

2. Just normal thick crust, I like it to be fluffy and not too heavy. Thin crust is okay sometimes. Usually with a cheese pizza, no other toppings.

3. I have two, Pizza Pizza. Great cheap pizza, great garlic dipping sauce! And also Gabriel Pizza is amazing! Pricier than PP but worth it! The cheese is so damn good, best I've had on a pizza and they offer meatballs as a topping. Never go out to have pizza, always order in.

4. I did once, I ordered a pizza from PP that had chicken and some other toppings on it, like tomatoes and pepper I think and it was awful. Took the plunge and didn't like it. Back to the old favorites.

1. Pepperoni and jalepenos. Most delicious thing you will ever taste. I used to go with only pepperoni, but lately I've been adding jalepenos and it adds the perfect amount of "umph to the pizza, if you know what I mean.

2. Thick crust. I like it when it is kind of doughey still and not cooked all of the way. That's the way my old high school used to make it and it was amazing. I also thin I might be the only person to really love the crsut on pizza. Whenever my friends don't want theirs, I'll gladly take it.

3. It depends on whatever I feel like, I go through phases. Papa John's was my choice for a while, but lately the one I go to just hasn't been that good. Pizza Hut is usually solid, but it is never anything great. Domino's is very hit or miss here, it's either the most delicious pizza ever, or it is totally disgusting. I went to a local pizza buffet called Monte's all the time until they closed down and it was by far the best place.

4. Not really, I don't think. I'm very picky with what I eat so I don't do too many weird things with my food.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?

Extra cheese and mushrooms.

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?

I prefer thin crust although I'm open to any type of crust save for deep dish. I absolutely despise deep dish. It's too "biscuity" and filled with nasty grease (it also makes you run for the shitter about ten minutes after you eat it).

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?

I usually go with Pizza Hut, but I occasionally order from Ledo Pizza. There used to be a place called Generous George's that I went to but all but one of its locations closed.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?

Yes. Pineapple and ham is great. I once ordered anchovies on my pizza and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. I thought the anchovies would be more firm but they turned out to be flaky as sin (I mention this because I only got them on one side...their flakiness made the other half of the pizza just as nasty). I'll never make the mistake of putting that shit on my pizza again.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?
My favorite would have to be Canadian bacon, my favorite mix would be colby jack cheese, burger meat, and Canadian Bacon. I like the mix because it tastes like a bacon cheese burger to me.

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?
I love rising crust, I enjoy the thick chewy crust. I allways have, I hate thin crust because it's to crunchy and dosen't really fill me up. But two big slices of rising crust pizza will allways get me to the point ware I'm ok.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?
All my pizza shops in my town fail to every aspect of this pizza shop. I have 3 shops in my town of 2000 people. They are all god awful, but I still eat there shit. I went on a fishing trip to Detroit last year. Yes, you can actually fish in Detroit! I was acutally infront of the Gm building for over an hour we also were right by big ceasars casino and hotel.

I still say that the glass glare off that building gave me my sunburn, but still after fishing for about 6 hours in Detroit we headed over to Hamtrmac I believe and stopped at a local Jets pizza. I got a square 8 slice cheese, and jesus was it good. Not greesy just like I love it, and for only having it one time. I'm still in love, I can't wait to make my way back up this year.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?

Not really, I stick to the norm. About the strangest toppings I've had was pinapple and ham. I don't like change with my pizza. I like it the good old way.

Why is this thread not titled best food in the world? Seriously, whoever invented pizza belongs in some sort of Hall of Fame. Fuck it, put em in every Hall of Fame there is.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?

I usually just stick with plane cheese. I don't eat many vegetables, and I was raised kosher so I have no taste for pork. I do occasionally like a good buffalo chicken slice though. I've also had a few gimmicky slices from my local pizzeria in New Jersey, including a cheese steak slice, a baked ziti slice, and a chicken Caesar salad slice.

2. What is your favorite style of crust, and why?

According to my pizza guy, thin crust is all the rage right now. Don't get me wrong, I like thin crust just fine, but I'm still a fan of a nice thick crust with some crispiness to it. None of this Domino's soft crust pizza bullshit, I like a little bit of a crunch with my pizza.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order them from, why or why not?

Hell yeah I do. In Boston I order them from a few different places. When I'm feeling saucy I order them from a place called Il Mundo. They make a really good, classic style pie, but it's kind of pricey. When I'm looking to get a nice, cheap eat, I order from Supreme Pizza. They have what I refer to as Ninja Turtle Pizza: Smells great, looks great, reheats like a champ, but it's just pizza, nothing to write home about.

When I'm in New Jersey I order from a place called Michael's. It's all of a 5 minute drive from my house, so I don't have to pay for delivery, and he makes some delicious Italian food in addition to making a good pizza. The owner is the nicest guy in the world, and we're on a first name basis. I've known him since I was about 13, and he catered my Bar Mitzvah.

4) Ever try experimenting with weird toppings? What are some that you have tried?

I've had a few gimmicky slices from my local pizzeria in New Jersey, including a cheese steak slice, a baked ziti slice, and a chicken Caesar salad slice. All of them were very good, though I wouldn't suggest the baked ziti slice. It was tasty, but the whole concept of eating bread on top of bread doesn't sit well with me.

Sometime in your lives, you've got to come to New Haven, Connecticut......the birthplace of brick oven pizza. Freakin' ay!

If the first Thanksgiving had been held in Connecticut, the Pilgrims would have been sharing brick oven pizza with the Indians (they weren't called Native Americans back then, so don't give me a hard time).

The best place in New Haven is Pepe's Pizza. You've got a two-hour wait to get in there on a Friday night, a long wait for the pizza.....and it's served by nasty waitresses who practically throw the food at you, as if they're personally offended to have to be serving you.

And the pizza is the best I've ever had.:worship:

So does anyone else ever buy frozen pizzas? They're usually never as good as the pizza joints, but as a parent, it's a real quick dinner solution and some of them are pretty good. But one pizza I came across that I would never recommend is this Double Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza. It would have been very good, but the sauce was replaced with this Ketchup & Mustard combo shit. The whole thing was just dry and very unpleasant. My son hated it, I hated it, and My girl hated it, so I tossed it and made something else.

Another thing that I'm a big fan of is Pizza Rolls. They'll make you feel like a shit excuse of a human being if you eat too many, but if you control yourself, they're fantastic.

Wow, can't believe that I missed this topic lol...

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?

This may sound crazy, but if you've ever been in Tennessee or Carolinas... or anywhere that uses REAL barbecue (that's pork, not beef or a sauce) then you'll understand that barbecue pizza is AMAZING. It's everything that a true barbecue fan loves about barbecue on top of a pizza crust with cheese and barbecue sauce to compliment it. I was basically raised thinking that THIS was traditional pizza, but then when I got older I found out about pepperoni and stuff like that. It's all good, but there is nothing better than barbecue pizza.

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?

Thin (and I mean THIN) crust pizza is the best with the barbecue pizza. It's the crunchiness of the crust that compliments the barbecue so well. If not thin crust, then it's definitely deep dish. Again though, thin crust is simply perfection.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?

Any place in the south that has "barbecue pizza" is great enough for me. But if you're talking casual pizza places, then I go with Little Caesers. It's quick and easy, and not a lot of money has to be paid for it so it's even more amazing.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?

Is Barbecue pizza not weird enough? Okay, then how about breakfast pizza? It's a biscuit crust that uses egg as the sauce, sausage, bacon, cheese, and in some cases it also has hash browns on it. It's really really really good and makes an amazing breakfast.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?
Olives. I don't think there's a pizza out there that wouldn't benefit from the addition of olives. Black olives, ideally. I think it's because I vividly remember being on holiday in the south of France when I was about 7. The camp site we regularly stayed at had a pizza van come round every Tuesday. It was the best Pizza I've ever eaten, and it had olives on it.

Outside of my olive fixation, I don't have any must-have ingredients. Pepperoni is obviously a classic. Mushrooms are cool. Garlic mushrooms are incredible. The most important thing for a pizza, however, it the quality of the cheese. It needs to be good cheese, otherwise the pizza is totally pointless.

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?
I don't have a preferred crust. I think it depends where you eat pizza. Pizza Hut have perfected their deep pan pizza. Therefore, it's better than their thin crust. Chicago deep dish is pretty awesome, too. It's different. Normally, Italian restaurants only do thin crust so they excel in that area.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?
No, I don't. I normally eat frozen pizzas. Pizza Express has an awesome range of frozen pizzas. They're not that far from their restaurant pizzas in terms of quality. If I do go out, it will Pizza Hut if I'm with friends or an Italian restaurant if I'm with my family.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?
Um, no. I haven't. We don't really do pizza in Britain like they do in America. We Brits like our food boring and pizza simple. The craziest we get is ham and pineapple, and that's horrible.

1. What is your favorite pizza topping, or mix of toppings, and why?

The meatball pizza. This little Italian place by my house makes the best pizza, and the meatball pizza is just great. They cut the meatballs in half, then they spread them across the cheese, and they also put extra tomato sauce on top, when they do this. The taste is just great, and there have been times where I can't stop eating this pizza. It doesn't matter how full I am. I will keep eating until I can't eat anymore.

Also, Papa Johns new double layered premium pepperoni pizza is shooting up my list of favorites.

2. What about your favorite style of crust, and why?

I'd probably have to go with the traditional style crust, that you would find at the chain restaurants (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns). I love Italian style pizza, but I always prefer the thicker crust. I also like the stuffed cheese crust.

3. Do you have a favorite location that you like to eat your pizzas at and/or order from, why or why not?

Most of the time, I order from the little Italian place by my house. But I always go there and pick up my pizza, because the delivery can take forever. The same thing goes for Papa Johns and Dominos, especially Dominos. And yes, I do eat pizza from Little Caesars every now and then. I know, it's cheap and shitty pizza, but I always get these strange cravings for Little Caesars.

4. Ever tried experimenting with weird topping choices? What are some that you have tried?

The Meat Lover's pizza from Pizza Hut. I tried it once a few years ago, and I will never try it again. I was VERY hungry that day, so I did eat the entire pizza, but man did I feel horrible afterwards. It felt like someone dropped a giant rock in my stomach, and I couldn't move after I was finished. Also, the taste was fucking horrible. It just tasted like a bunch of grease, and everything was so bland. And Pizza Hut doesn't put a good amount of sauce on their pizza, so that didn't help either.

So does anyone else ever buy frozen pizzas? They're usually never as good as the pizza joints, but as a parent, it's a real quick dinner solution and some of them are pretty good.

I always enjoy Freschetta. Their pizza tastes great, and the crust is just awesome. This has to be the best frozen pizza on the market, and Red Baron would be a close second.
