Original Plans For The Brood Revealed

Getting Noticed By Management
Gangrel recently appeared on The Roman Show and during that interview, he revealed what the original plans were for The Brood, and to some, this may be very surprising and interesting.

He revealed that there were no plans at all for Christian to be involved at all

"Edge was in from the beginning." he said. “Originally a guy from Canada and the guy who was in TNA Christopher Daniels. Chris Daniels was in the lead, where out of nowhere Christian came in. Edge got Christian in.”

He then talked about how much influence he had in the stable.

“I worked from 1988 and on with WWF to WWE,” he said. “They knew who I was and I kept pushing the vampire thing. They told me, ‘the vampire thing wouldn’t work and its not going to happen’. I gave them all this research about vampires. I kept telling them about the group of vampires it be cool it didn’t matter if they won or lost. It was about doing it and looking cool.”

I have to feel for Daniels now. He lost out on what would have been a cool spot for him and essentially what would have made him a star. Why not just have the four of them in?

I remember Vampyro saying that he was contacted to be a part of the Brood as well. The Brood with those three alone was awesome but the fact that the original plans called for Christopher Daniels to be involved then to be switched out with Christian is unfortunate.

I've always heard this "Vince doesn't like Christian, Vince doesn't see anything in Christian, WWE made Christian a contract extension offer in 2005, which he didn't like, making it seem like they just wanted him to leave the company" and I never knew why. Now it all makes sense to me and it's obvious why.

I never cared for The Brood outside of the stage entrance and theme music. Gangrel was a good worker it's just I never cared for the gimmick. I still feel that Michael Hayes interview killed them when they decided to have them break silence. Putting Gangrel on the microphone was a terrible idea.

Christian was a hard worker, regardless of Edge got him into the Brood stable or many of his pushes that he acquired at the fage end of the career, which everyone deem mostly because of Edge's influence, he still is a hard worker and a real talent. He really is Captain Charisma isn't he?

Anyhow, talking about Christopher Daniels, he's one of the few who have that natural ability and athletics but unfortunately he some sort of is moulded for the Wrestling rather than sports entertainment. Even in his days in TNA I really had enjoyed his wrestling albeit not his entertainment. It's one of the main reason why he didn't get pushed in TNA as well.

Christian and Chris Daniels are two different assets, after all these years trying to judge what would've happened if Daniels replaced Christian in the Brood would lead to fallacy I reckon.

It worked out best for both guys honestly. If things went with the original plan, we would have not gotten some great E&C tag matches (especially TLC) and Daniels wouldnt have been as good of a fit. Chris never needed that big WWE push to get over and frankly his run there would not have had the creative freedom he got in ROH and TNA.

Daniels would have been phenomenal in the gimmick. The guy is a great talker and always gravitated to dark gimmicks like this. Edge, Gangrel, Vampiro, Daniels would have been badass.

It's dangerous to say Daniels "should" have been in... so much of WWE would be different. There'd have been no 5 second poses, flash photography or awesomeness phase... Edge's singles push would have gone differently without Christian's jealousy of KOTR and we might not have ended up with the Rated R Superstar/Hall Of Famer we have today. One of the reasons Edge bloomed as he did was that he had his childhood buddy riding shotgun. While it didn't stop him getting in trouble, it was only really over women... living the dream with your school mate, that you BOTH had is a pretty good way to keep out of the drugs/drink trap as you don't want to screw it up for the other guy.

There'd have been no TLC matches, the Hardyz and Dudz wouldn't have gotten over the same and Attitude as a whole would have been vastly different. Just by swapping one person!
Sure, you could say Daniels should have been in WWE by now, but there is probably deep down a reason he hasn't been. If Vince doesn't rate Christian, perhaps he rated Daniels less. The only time Daniels has ever been remotely "mainstream" was when he was Spiderman in the first movie's wrestling scene... but had he been in WWE at that time, and Vince knew Savage was playing Bonesaw, you can guarantee it would have been stopped. If there was still beef between Vince and Savage then just being "the guy who worked Randy in that movie..." would make Daniels persona non-grata.

So be careful - that one change and a lot of the wrestling world and even outside entertainment changes.

Excellent post. Without Christian, Edge is unlikely to have had the career he did and we wouldn't have seen the legendary TLC matches and the personas of E&C. I guess they could have had "Edge and Christopher", but it wouldn't have been the same. I think they made the right decision in going with Christian as the 3rd member of The Brood.

However, I am a big Christopher Daniels fan. He's always been a fantastic performer and I think it's very disappointing that he never got to have a run in WWE, he would have been a great addition to the roster. It surely must be the fact he's so slim that stopped Vince from giving him a run as it can't be his in-ring or mic skills.
