Old School Wrestling games

Being born in the 80's I was exposed to video games at an early age, Mario was my first. But it was not until 1993 I got my first taste of wrestling games with WWF Royal Rumble for Genesis. I always liked (most of) the wrestling games from the 16-bit era with Monday Night Raw being my favorite.

Tecmo Wrestling is a very underrated but very fun game from NES.

Wrestemania Arcade was pretty awful, but I am curious of the long time rumor: Is Adam Bomb actually a secret character, if so how is he unlocked? I'd try it again if this rumor were true.

And then, there were the very bad games like WcW Superbrawl for SNES, the other WCW and WWF games for Gameboy and Gamegear, most of NES' games (except WCW wrestling).

What were some of your fav old school wrestling games? (by old school I mean anything before the 64-bit era).

WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game was fairly hilarious for the little bit it lasted.

Basically just a wrestling game through a very arcadey style, think NBA Jam or NFL Blitz.

Its a cartoony over the top game not trying to be a wrestling game really. Undertaker shoots bats and Yokozuna shoots out food when hurt, Bam Bam Bigelow has the ability to turn into flame and go into the mat, reappearing somewhere else etc.

Just a silly little game worth a few hours of entertainment.

Oh god, definitely Wrestlefest.

This game ate up more of my quarters than any other arcade game I played at the time, it still remains as one of the greatest wrestling games of all time, despite its simplicity.

WWF Royal Rumble for the Mega Drive was my fave wrestling game growing up. Also the RAW one that was on the Mega Drive was good too, it's pretty much the same as the Royal Rumble game but with different wrestlers.

Wrestlefest RULES!! WWF Superstars arcade game wasn't too shabby either. It was also a tag team affair, chasing Andre & Ted for the belts. If i had to chose though it would definately be Wrestlefest. I'm still heartbroken it was never ported to a console & still hunt for it whenever im near an arcade.

My first memory of wrestling games had to be WWF Royal Rumble for SNES. With a solid roster at the time, well coming from a little youngen, I can remember playing the game, mostly the Royal Rumble match for hours with only Mr.Perfect because I really loved his song and would sit in screens for minutes at time just to hear it. Also getting down to the final 3 and letting the other two go at it only for me to Button Mash my way to eliminating the remaining wrestler. Also something I will always remember was stupidly running to the top turnbuckle and than Flair just running and hit me outside to win.
