Love this thread as I was a huge fan of the elimination tag matches from the old school Survivor Series'. I miss the fact that back in the day every member of a team had a reason to be on a team [for the most part] as he was usually feuding with someone on the opposing team. For my old school team I'm going to make some [probably] confusing picks because these guys were some of my favorites so tough, and they're not necessarily related to the current product.
Old School:
Bret Hart
Jake Roberts
Ricky Steamboat
Rick Rude
Mr. Perfect
New School:
John Cena
C.M. Punk
Daniel Bryan
John Morrison
Randy Orton
Firstly, I would have Bret Hart feuding with John Cena. Now you're probably thinking, "Why would you have two main-event faces feud?" Simple, because Bret was at one time the face of the company. This would be a simple who's a better face of the company.
Second, I would put Jake Roberts up against C.M. Punk because I would have C.M. Punk playing up his straight edge lifestyle and accusing Jake The Snake of living wrongly, etc. This would be an in-ring and out-of-ring psychology frenzy as C.M. Punk is probably the best in the WWE and Jake is one of the all-time greats.
Third, Daniel Bryant vs. Ricky Steamboat. Simply put these are past and present light-weight in-ring performers who just wrestle[d] beautifully.
Fourth, Rick Rude vs. John Morrison adds the "who's the more popular with the ladies" category which would add for some very entertaining promo work, mostly from Rude I have to admit.
Finally, and this probably my favorite, Mr. Perfect and Randy Orton. Where Randal would reinvent his Legend Killer gimmick, which is my favorite Orton persona/era. Mr. Perfect would act as the last remaining Legend for Orton to destroy and these two could put on a clinic both in and out of the ring.
