Old School RAW got me thinking

Moonsault Madness

Dark Match Jobber
Now it was cool to see the old school wrestlers out there tonight, but having them wrestle anybody was ridiculous and they are way to old to be doing it anyways. Now what what the show got me thinking is what if the E creates a one time PPV that featured "throwback" wrestlers rather than such "old school" guys. Now hear me out before you guys start blowing me up. When i say throw back and why this should be a PPV, i mean a throwback to wrestlers that can actually still wrestle and compete. Not sure about of of the logistics with some of these guys, but it would bring back guys from the attitude era and early 2000's. Have them wrestle their equivalent counter parts. When i list these matches you will see why it would be a PPV and the E would have to build it up which wouldn't be hard.

Co Main event- The Rock vs. John Cena, this could be a brama bull match or anything goes match. Could you imagine the promos!

Co Main event- Steve Austin vs. Randy Orton. Rattlesnake vs. Viper, no DQ.

Other matches to include:
Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison in a ladder match

Kurt Angle vs. Jack Swagger in a Ankle Lock submission match

The Road Dogg Jesse James and Billy Gunn vs. The USO's (once they get their push, which they hopefully will)

JBL vs. Sheamus

X-Pac vs. Daniel Bryan

Scott Hall vs. Dolph Ziggler or Drew McIntyre

Goldberg vs. Edge in a spear match (though i think a edge vs y2j would be a better fit)

Billy Kidman vs Evan Bourne or Justin Gabriel

Trish Stratus vs. Melina

Now I know this would probably never happen, but how sweet would it be. It could be bigger than wrestlemania i think and it could be possible considering all the "throwback" wrestlers are not to old and could pull it off. I mean some of these promos for the matches would be incredible. What matches would you like to see and do you feel that this could be successful?

Its a great idea in theory. There's only a few problems I'd see.

The most obvious are the choices in talent. This isn't meant to flame you or anything but some of the talent work for the joke company... We know which one I refer to... Anyways, it is a wrestling fans dream but having some people (aka Shawn Michaels) compete won't happen because they're either retired, aren't physically able to or they have a bad relationship with their former employer.

I believe if the WWE focused strictly on seeing what worked in the past and maybe bringing a little of that flavor to the current product it might help out....

Now back on topic.

I think it would be widely successful because there are wrestlers that can still go that people know who they are. It could bring in a new/ returning audience base to the WWE and elevate their status farther.

People I DO NOT want to see wrestle are:
Ric Flair - he makes me sad when he's in the ring. 60 years old and still trying to wrestle...
Hulk Hogan - not as old but see the above.

I don't have any particular wrestler from the past I really DO want to see back in the ring. The surprise factor would be something that would make it awesome.

The thread would be more aptly titled 'My dream PPV'. I was with the OP when I was reading the post, up until I saw the match lineup. As a dream card, I like it, and it makes sense.

BUT, as a feasible card, it's just not going to happen.

On your dream card, the two matches I would find incredible would be: The Rock vs. Cena and Swagger vs. Angle. The build-up to the Rock/Cena match would be epic. Since this is obviously a dream card, I would like to add Mr. Perfect vs. Kurt Angle.

Mr. Perfect could go with anyone. Sure, he oversold, but it worked. And I honestly think no one else can oversell so much, yet make it look amazing. Just my opinion.

And for a comedy bout, how about Santino comes out, does his normal comedy routine along side Koslov, then the BUSHWACKERS come out, and they sanction a match. Now THAT would be comedy. The Bushwackers all over the place with Santino doing his Cobra and jumping around and such.

Aaaahhhhh.... Just thinking about Old School WWF just brings me back.

Nice idea for a dream card, and nothing else.

that would be a pretty awesome card and most of those guys should still be able to give a good show and with the right build up each match could be a hit... though I'd imagine you are looking at a multi million dollar pay day for all those guys as their egos are all through the roof haha... for now though i must say i wish they would at least incorporate some stuff back into the mix from old school... i LOVED the old school way they showed the names of the guys, small detail i know but it's great, the old theme video was great to see back, and the little box that appeared during the match with a promo was HUGE to me... i think that was a great way to get some extra exposure for talent and to build feuds or whatever, why they stopped that is beyond me... also the brooklyn brawler as a jobber! They need to bring back squash matches in my opinion... someone to take a handful of moves that showcases a wrestler's arsenal without burying someone else in the process... sorry to digress but those were somethings the throwback made me want... as for your idea, again would be great if it ever did happen... could be wrestlemania worthy for most of those matches

The Rock vs John Cena
Stone Cold vs Randy Orton
Shawn Michaels vs John Morrison
Triple H vs McIntyre
Goldust vs Cody Rhodes (I know they're not "counterparts" but still would be epic)
JBL vs Del Rio
Jericho vs The Miz
Edge/Christian vs Dudebusters (Once they're pushed more)
Finlay vs Sheamus
Kurt Angle vs Jack Swagger
Trish Stratus vs Melina or Michelle McCool
