[OFFICIAL] Game Show Thread!!!

It's...Baylariat!

Team Finnley Baylor
This is where we discuss the marvel that IS, the Game Show. Many game shows have come and gone in our era. We have Password, What's My Line, and To Tell the Truth during the black and white TV era. There's also the 70's game shows like Name That Tune, Tic Tac Toe, Jokers Wild, The Newlywed Game and some game show called The Price is Right. Family Feud was also a 70's game show. And last but not least...The MATCH Game!

The 80's seen a boom with the 25,000 and 100,000 Dollar Pyramids, Sale of the Century, Love Connection, Press Your Luck, and two games shows that stood the test of time in Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. And lets not forget Scrabble. That plunger rocked my socks off!

The 90's seen sort of a lull in the game show category. Then in the 2000's we have Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Greed, Deal or No Deal and for the Aussie folk, Temptation. This is the thread to talk about your beloved game shows. You know you watch them. Now you can TALK about them.

This is for you my nWZo-ite brother Latriat.

My favourite show is definitely the Wheel of Fortune. I like in the UK and we still have that show. Although it was hosted by John Leslie, covered in scandal later on in his life. Nevertheless, I remember sitting with my family when I was very young to watch it. I was always quite good at guessing them but I enjoyed the show a lot more. One of my friends dad's actually got to the final of the show at one point, it was really fun. I liked that show.

Another favourite of mine was Catchphrase. It was a really great show. "Say what you see". It was really fun and it was a funny show at some points. Who wants to be a Millionaire was also very good when it started. It was on on a Saturday and I used to stay in every Saturday night to watch it. Now, that's commitment.

Lariat, awesome idea. But for 2000's you can't forget 1 vs. 100 lol. The host is Bob Saget. Who doesn't like that foul mouthed S.O.B.? Just being a bit of a smartass to start.

To the thread at hand. The Price is Right was awesome with Bob Barker. I don't know what it was, but when I was home sick from school, I would flip it on and there he was in all of his glory, right by that big freaking wheel. Is it just me, or did anyone else sort of feel better after watching that show? Or to start the games, I know I get pissed when people do the, "What did she say, 1,000? I'll go with 1,001." But that is just me.

Another classic Game Show as you mentioned Family Feud. Watching on the Game Show Network is awesome with Richard Dawson. He would kiss the female contestants, and was a great host, I'd say that was a win-win. After he finally retired, it just doesn't seem as if the Feud's hosts can stay for longer than 3 or 4 years. Louie Anderson could only stay for 3 years, Richard Karn (Al Borland from Home Improvement) stayed for 4 years after Louie left. And finally John O'Hurley has been the host since 2006. Fun show, I prefer the classics of the 70's and 80's with Dawson rather than the newer hosts.

My #1 favorite game show has always been and will forever be Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I watched Millionaire since the very beginning in 1999, where I was about 4-5 years old, and I loved it then and I love it now. Regis Philbin is the man! He's one of my many influences and heroes... I love that guy! When he left Millionaire in 2002, I was a bit disappointed, but I got Meredith Vieria in return. From the start, I used to think she was so hot! I was a 8-9 years old kid who thought a women nearing 50 was hot... haha! Well, I still kinda do now. She's beautiful!! "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" will always have a special place in my heart. I LOVE game shows, but Millionaire will always be my favorite of all-time.

The Price is Right

This game show is simply an icon of American television. In other countries like Australia and the United Kindgom, TPIR is good. In America, it's an institution. At 11:00 AM EST, Bob Barker made me want to be a better man. Bob Barker was the medicine I needed as a sick kid who stayed home from school or who was home during the summer and up early for no apparent reason.

The Price Is Right's Bob Barker era started in 1972 with pricing games, the showcase showdown, and of course, Barker's beauties. I have a few favorite games. Of course Plinko's my all time fav, along with Cliffhangers with the yodeling mountain climber who cheated death in every instance, the 3 Strikes game, and the Golden Road

This is one of my favorite clips and one of my favorite games being played to perfection. And she's quite the looker, too.

She breaks the record for biggest win on the Plinko game at that time, until a woman broke that record on Drew Carey's Price is Right. And of course, we can't leave here without one of the best sounds ever to indicate failure at anything.
