Brilliant Idiot
According to some reports, Nonito Donaire is serious about pursuing the best fights at Bantamweight and collecting all the alphabet championships. According to those same reports, he's currently targeting Anselmo Moreno.
This is not a walk in the park for The Filipino Flash. However, it's a fight that I'd assume he'd be favored to win. Still, this would essentially keep him one fight away from a total unification of his division. (Counting only the most prominent sanctioning bodies.)
While it's troubling to think that he'd have to collect so many titles in order to reign supreme in the division, it's still quite the feat. A feat that has only been accomplished in the sport around a handful of times.
Still, even getting passed Moreno -- which isn't completely in the bag by any means -- he'd have to then face the winner of Joseph Agbeko and Abner Mares. Both of whom are solid fighters as well.
With this.. I ask these questions:
1. What are your thoughts of Nonito Donaire's apparent desire to unify the entire division?
2. Do you think he has a chance? If you don't, who do you think has a better chance at Bantamweight currently?
3. Where do you think this would place him all-time amongst the greatest 118 pounders?
