RIP Sgt. Michael Paranzino / RIP CM
So it was just announced on Impact by Dixie Carter that Bobby Lashley will make his PPV in-ring debut for TNA at the No Surrender PPV in September against none other than Rhino.

This could be a decent match. I've never been big on Lashley, but I imagine he and Rhino might turn out to be pretty decent. We'll have to just wait and see.

Thoughts everyone?

(Beat ya to it M_F! :p)

I like this. It would make no sense at all to have him against someone like Deaner or some other jobber that has no credibility since they're trying to push Lashley as this wrestling god. Rhino is a former world champion in TNA so he's got the credentials for sure. He's a midcard guy that offers a degree of danger to Lashley as the Gore can be hit from anywhere at anytime and can end a match. It adds a good amount of credibility to the match to not ahve this be some jobber which I think is the right move here. Let Lashley have a decent win to start his career in TNA. It will save a lot of time since Lashley has a weird schedule anyway.

This match is so pointless I didn't even bother creating a thread for it(hence why X made it) :)

Anyways, I guess I wouldn't say this is "pointless" since the point of the match is to have Lashley debut and dominate, but it just seems so boring. I get that they are building Lashley up as a huge star, but his first PPV match should be in a feud, not a random single's match.

This will be a squash, and there is no way in hell Lashley is losing unless Angle or someone else get's involved. This match is basically just telling the fans that Lashley is back, is going to dominate, and is a future star. The sad thing is they will probably hype this up as some HUGE match, and make it seem that Rhino has a chance even though we all know that's not the case.

It will probably end up like the WM match against Umaga. Really flat, even though there was more then just a wrestling match going on at the end there.

It has the potential to be an intense match, but the fact that it's just random, coupled with the fact that it is Lashley's return is a guarantee he will win.

I would have pictured Lashley actually facing someone in the MEM, but I will wait for the buildup to see if my opinions change on if Rhino is the appropriate candidate. But for the moment, not really.

Bobby Lashley HAS to win his first match. THUS... Why waste it on an actual credible guy like a Samoe Joe, Scott Steiner (who showed with his match with Joe he can be seen as a bad ass) or Kevin Nash when you can throw a guy like Rhino (who on paper, is a tough challenge) who really hasn't been booked like a star in the past 6 months, in and feed him to Lashley.

Thus, after that, his matches will be more unpredictable. He will also have a chance to shake the ring rust off himself. Rhino is no slouch, he will bring his A game, knowing how much is riding on the success of Lashley.

This is Lashley 2nd TNA match not his 1st as he teamed w/ Foley to win the help him win the TNA Legends Title. So good try thinkin this is his 1st match w/ the company. He'll gore!! gore!! gore!! til he beats Rhino to become 2-0

yeah, but mral, he threw like 2 punches in that other match. This is his ACTUAL debut, in that he will be wrestling a full match. Winning a tag match that you were only in for 2 minutes with outside interference is not an impressive debut, so this match he will definately be booked strongly as it is his real first impression.

I can see his next match lasting only 2 minutes as well ryno could go eather way with TNA writers behind him. That would really show Lashley as dominate!

i dont think the match will be a squash, it could also be a match to boost rhino back up to where he was 6 months ago, maybe. but i see it lasting at least 5 minutes. yes we all know lashley will win but i dont think it will be a squash.

I'm with M_F on this one, not too excited about it. There really is nothing to this match other than it being Lashley "long awaited" debut and he is facing a random heel. I actually do like that they are actually using Rhino, he's a solid veteran guy and he can make any match decent. Rhino will also be able to carry this feud, if it even is a feud, on the mic.

He may not be the best, but he shows great emotion on the mic and can be entertaining. As for the match itself, it's nothing more than a glorified squash. Rhino will make Lashley look good and the fans will love it. This is the launching point for the Bobbys Lashley era in TNA, I suppose we'll have to deal with it.

If I were TNA in this case, I would have Rhino cut a promo about how he is not going to lay down for the 'new signing'. He is going to use Bobby Lashley as a way to prove he is still in his prime.

Maybe even, Kurt Angle approaches Rhino with an offer that if he beats Lashley (and spoils his debut match), he can join the Main Event Mafia (since Rhino is a former world heavyweight champion).

If a story is behind it, I think the match will draw better and make it somewhat of a question if Bobby is going to win.

Filler, completely pointless and useless filler is what this match is. Rhyno is basically just some random heel that's been dropped into the match and is basically going to be the sacrificial lamb to usher in Lashley's glorious presence and all that.

I'm thinking this match is ultimately going to wind up being close to a squash. If it goes 5 minutes, I'll be greatly surprised. Rhyno will get a few shots in and he'll probably wind up hitting Lashley with the gore. The announcers will try selling the shit out of it after Lashley kicks out of it, going on about what kind of man "The Boss" must be to kick out of the gore, Lashley will make a quick comback, hit his finisher, then it's Miller time.

I thought Rhino was a face. Wouldn't it make more sense for Lashley to easily defeat a heel? This is TNA though, so there are no real heels or faces.

Pretty sure Rhino is a pile of shit these days. So boring that not even TNA fans are intrested in him.

Lashley should at least face somebody either bigger than him or considerably smaller. I'd have him squash the Guns in a handicap match.

he was a face until he turned on Jesse Neal and now he's a heel. Rhino was on The Front Line but he crossed it when he did that plus a debut match doesn't have to constitute in a few punches or standin in the corner. So he's already had his debut match but this will be his Debut PPV match.

I'm confused. I thought Rhino was just working an angle with some reality kid that he was "training"? How is he suddenly in a match with Lashley? Please don't tell me this is building for Lashley to feud with Rhino's jobber trainee. That would suck on too many levels.

We all know who will win, I just hopoe they let Rhino look semi-credible, and don't just bury him in 3 minutes. He could work a decent match with just about any big guy, so why not let him?

Like it’s already been said, this is just a pointless match.

Who actually wants to see Lashley and Rhino go at it in a wrestling match? On one hand, you have Rhino who hasn’t been any good in years and then you have Lashley who is just boring and nothing special. Yeah, this should be an exciting match.

It’s fairly obvious that the winner is going to be Lashley because they aren’t going to have him lose just after a few weeks of him joining TNA and because there really isn’t a reason to give Rhino the win here. Lashley is probably going to win the match and probably enter a feud with Kurt Angle and they’ll have a match at Bound for Glory.

So I predict they’ll have a boring match with Lashley winning it and moving on to a feud with Angle.
