MIXED MARTIAL ARTS MATCH
"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs. Frank Trigg​

I'm not sure what a Mixed Martial Arts Match is, I think they're usually called fights. But I might be wrong on that. This reminds me of the Matt Hardy/MVP match that was supposed to happen last year but didn't. I was curious as to what it would be like. I was fully aware it would be awful. But I still wanted to see it.

I'm guessing that this will be booked in a similar way to Joe vs. Angle at Lockdown. But instead of being something new and intresting, it'll be total shit.

A.J. deserves better, and Trigg is great on the mic. I was hoping his first match would be higher profile, and without a stupid gimmick.

Don't get it. Don't get it at all. What an odd way to introduce Trigg into wrestling. Well, not for TNA - this is pretty sensible for TNA. Just in general. What an odd feud. I mean, some people will say they've been building it up for a while. I agree, in the same way they built up Kaz: schizophrenically, inconsistently and in a confused direction, or rather directions.

Still, it'll be interesting to see how Trigg does in his first match. We'll see if he will be Kurt Angle 2.0. I doubt it, he's in TNA. Then again, that never stopped Styles being awesome.

Styles is good enough to make this match at least intresting. But the reason the Lockdown match worked because of Joe's style, and Angle's supposed MMA cradentials. A.J. is a hell of a worker. But I'm sure that Trigg hasn't been training long enough for this to work. TNA might think they're being clever by having it as an MMA style match. But it'll still be a wrestling match so it's hardly going to hide Trigg's flaws.

From what I read this is up there with the Blindfold Cage Match & the Electrified Cage match from Lockdown 2007, in terms of stupidity. I honestly can't see what either would earn from this. Trigg's first match ends in a duff decision, and Styles has had to take part in a stupid gimmick match. A match that by all accounts came off like shit, and the crowd hated.

TNA will probably try it again next month. But as a Ladder MMA match.

I read reports that during this match they actually had it blackout and get interrupted by a porno. When I watched the version that recorded on my DVR (satellite) I seen no porn, but I did see a lot of meaningless male on male action that I wasn't into.

I have to admit, this was the dumbest match they've had SINCE the Electric Cage match from a few years back. And to have A.J. Styles win? You know what makes things unrealistic? When someone who hasn't done what they're entering into and wins on the first go.. when their opponent has been doing this all their life and gets basically "owned".

I have to admit, I watched the p.p.v. AFTER reading reports of porn.. and I was disappointed to not get the porn. Stupid lucky cable subscribers.

EDIT: Shows how much I apparently paid attention to the match. On WZ.com they claim the match ended in a no contest, but I could've swore A.J. Styles was declared the winner. Maybe I got confused because they played his music after the match.

It's east to get confused with TNA Will. But never fear. If the outcome is in doubt I'm sure that they will tell you what happened on iMPACT. They'll have a big long promo explaining what the outcome way. But if you need to explain then you really haven't done your job properly.

Next month we'll get A.J. vs. Trigg in a wrestling match. It's getting to the point when that's a stipulation in TNA.
