As with all major gaming companies, after they sell a good amount of one console for a few years they end up releasing the new console to take over the sales for their company. Now the Wii is going on to be four years old this winter since it's original 2006 launch. So usually around that time a new console will eventually be unveiled at a gaming show before it's eventual release later that year or even a year afterwards. Now this brings me to the main point of this thread.
There is a lot of talk talking about how Nintendo when they reveal/release their next console that it will be called "Wii 2" and will most likely be a more high tech follow up to the original Wii. Much like the PlayStation and it's follow up consoles. Would this be a good idea to do? They would basically be capping off of the success of the first console, which would be a genius move by Nintendo but wouldn't they just be watering down the motion sensitive concept for a console? Could it perhaps be more beneficial to go back to the original console concept. The same concept that made the other consoles before the Wii?
I would much rather prefer to see something new and innovative for Nintendo to make. A new console, with a new name, with new expected titles to return and new ones to debut. I don't what they would able to call this future console but I would hope it's new and completely different from the Wii. I always think creating something new and creative has helped Nintendo strive because out of the gaming companies out there, they have the most creativity out of all them. So by creating something new and fresh it would keep with original Nintendo tradition instead of making a sequel console like Xbox and PlayStation already have.
In the end it's just a matter of preference. I think it would be beneficial for Nintendo to make something new for their fans, but I can't argue that releasing a second Wii would be a great business move to capitalize off the success of the first console. Anyway all Nintendo fans post in here and share your decisions and thoughts on this subject.
