News on McIntyre & Daniel Bryan

The Whole F'N Show

Professional Smark
- Former WWE creative team member John Piermarini has started his blog in which he has released a ton of scoops regarding things that occured in the company during the two years he was employed. The blog has since been pulled (the Website does say it will be back soon) but we have managed to retain some of the things Piermarini said. Below are some notes:

* The storyline between Daniel Bryan and The Bella Twins was actually first pitched by The Bella's. WWE has planned to run with a similar storyline for Evan Bourne before he was injured.

* There was talk that Drew McIntyre would be the man to take out the Undertaker before it was changed to Nexus.

* On the Undertaker, the plan right now is for him to wrestle Wade Barrett at WrestleMania 27, but of course this could change.

You're Thoughts

Evan Bourne working with the Bellas is interesting. It shows that WWE was planning on giving Bourne a decent push. Makes you wonder how far they were going to go with it. Was he going to do nothing and just come out with the Bellas? Was he going to possibly work a feud with Bryan? And what were their original plans for Bryan?

The same can be said for McIntyre. They were going to give him a big push and a big rub by being the one who buried Taker. Did he do something wrong that made creative feel he wasn't ready for the push or was it just because they thought Nexus and Barrett would be a better angle?

All it does is raise more questions and speculation on what WWE was planning for those superstars. Also I'm taking this with a grain of salt because this man did get fired and could just be a disgruntled ex-employee writing bull shit.

Ahh.. damn those Bella twins.. It would have been better if it was Evan Bourne, Bryan doesn't need this twins.. they make him look like a ladies man coming to the ring with him like that!! He isn't a ladies man, he is a serious technician and I think the Bella's are just making him look kinda weak..

I remember reading several months ago that McIntyre was being depushed because of a very diva-ish backstage attitude. Really, that guy is lucky he's still around. He might be the worst talker on the roster, especially for someone who does a lot of talking, and he gets almost no response from the crowd, at least, in my impression from watching Smackdown.

Evan Bourne working with The Bella Twins? Good Good. Maybe in addition to working with The Bella Twins he'd have been turned heel, and could have worked a few segments calling the crowd losers because they couldn't get women like he could. And it would have given him a gimmick that isn't used as much in the WWE anymore. You don't really see the ladies man gimmick used anywhere anymore, they tried to put it on Zack Ryder, but it didn't really work out with him. This gimmick could have taken his career to a higher height. Instead of being known as the underdog in every contest, he would have been known as the guy that dates beautiful women, and brags about it. Good gimmick IMO.

Drew McIntyre taking out The Undertaker. I'd have loved to see it. But the question is...where would they have gone from there? As i recall, Tiffany and Drew were trying to pitch a storyline to WWE Creative with them (the one he's in with KK atm). They liked the storyline, but Tiffany was fired. So maybe the reason Drew McIntyre didn't take out the undertaker was because they had this storyline planned for him still.

The Undertaker vs. Wade Barrett at wrestlemania 27? Are you kidding me? No. This is going to most likely be Taker's LAST wrestlemania. You can't have him wrestle Wade Barrett. You have to have him wrestle someone that the wrestling fans actually give a damn about. Honestly IMO Wade Barrett is not fit to wrestle the undertaker at Mania...on another stage at any other times, i'd love to see it, but you just can't risk it. His matches with Orton were okay AT BEST. They need to have The Undertaker against someone that would actually pose a threat in EVERYONES mind to the streak. Like John Cena. Truthfully i believe he is the last man that can be believed by anyone to break the streak. Every year someone says "this is going to be the year the streak breaks." I started calling it back when he wrestled Orton. It would have been the perfect way to put Orton over...but this year...i can feel it...this year is the year...that the undertaker's streak will be finished.

I really dont get all the Bella Twins hate on the net. GRRR ARRG WE HATE WOMENS!

Its helping get Bryan over to the casual fans who are focused more on the entertainment factor than the sports factor. I think it will eventually run its course but for now its funny and entertaining.

I think Evan Bourne and Daniel Bryan being mid-carders is great as the WWE needs to build their mid-card line back up. It seems somewhere down the line they destroyed the relevancy of every element other than the World Heavyweight division and even that title itself (both of them) has lost significant value (compared to the value it used to have).

As seen over the years - even mid-carders who have never won the World Championship can have extremely successful and prestigious Hall of Fame careers (i.e. Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Jake Roberts, etc.). I strongly believe guys like Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, and Rey Mysterio Jr. should have remained in the mid-card area to keep it alive. Hell, Deam Malenko stayed there and did perfectly fine - his reputation is no different than the others who were "pushed" to World Champion status. Once they opened the flood gates for cruiserweights and perrenial mid-carders winning the title, not to mention it being combined with the new guys instantly winning the world title, the mid-card, cruiserweight, and tag team division's all suffered and nearly disintigrated. The cruiserweight and mid-card division are no longer respectable at all and are mainly used as "extra training" for those younger newer guys with potential. It's unfortunate because some of those mid-card matches were extremely exciting and helped pave the way towards the heavyweight matches.

WCW's formula in the mid-to-late 90's was incredible. Opening segment and the cruiserweights would instantly grab your attention and then it was followed by the exciting tactical mid-carders (TV title/US title guys) with perhaps a main event segment in the middle...and then the main event heavyweight segment at the end. They all benefited from one another.

It seems somewhere down the line everything lost it's value...and it wasn't only the championship title belts.

I could see that happening, and it all goes to illustrate how a program might take an entirely different direction based on who's playing the part. I've enjoyed the way Daniel Bryan has handled it; as if he's slightly baffled by the attention he's getting from two beautiful women. Evan Bourne, on the other hand, might very well have turned into a smart aleck, figuring that he must be something special if the Bellas latched onto him.

Of course, we may see it still happen in the future, as the Bellas aren't going to stay with Bryan forever. Evan earned his push and I hope an unfortunate injury doesn't wind up cancelling it.

Interesting stuff. Evan Bourne would have been better for the Twins. Then again, neither guys really needs them. Just let them put on the best match of the night and then send em to the back. Not too hard to book.

McIntyre would have been interesting with taking Undertaker out. However, with Barrett on Smackdown! now, it could get very interesting. WrestleMania could make a lot of sense. But, it'd be the second big program for Barrett that could end in a big loss. Hopefully, they have a way of minimizing that damage.

McIntyre being involved in a major program with The Undertaker and possibly a match at WrestleMania would be terrible. The guy can do very little in the ring and on the mic, he can't sell an angle or feud to save his life. If he went out there cutting a promo on wanting to be the one to end 'Taker's career or streak, I wouldn't believe a word he said and I'm guessing the crowd's reaction would most likely be, "Him?" People wouldn't believe for a second that he had a legitimate chance at ending the streak and the feud would be an immediate failure.

The crowd doesn't care about McIntyre and attempting to skyrocket his career with a storyline that big wouldn't work. If it was the final feud of 'Taker's career, people would look back on it with regret. The only person in WWE with less talent is David Otunga, and you can at least argue that he hasn't had as much opportunity to stand out. The rope extended to McIntyre has been a long one, and he has shown little, if any improvement. Aside from his entrance music, I find nothing appealing about him, and I have tried repeatedly to give him credit for something. If this was indeed the original plan, I'm ecstatic that they shifted gears.

I think it said on that same site that the guy who got fired pitched an idea to introduce Awesome Kong as Daniel Bryan's girlfriend, which is why Daniel is alway so coy around the Bellas despite them throwing themselves at him. I think it'd be pretty awesome to see a smaller male wrestler with a huge female body guard like Kong. Obviously she wouldn't be introduced as a "body guard", but that's essentially the role she'd be playing, and it gives the WWE an opportunity to give her an actual debut, and an in-ring debut after she gets over as DB's girl/body guard or whatever you want to call it. Maybe Maryse and Ted DiBiase go after Daniel and Kong eliminates Maryse from the picture so Daniel can retain his title, leading to a Maryse/Kong feud, giving Kong an entrance into the Diva's division. Just throwing ideas out there, but I'm building off of what this guy said on his blog. I can't wait for it to be back up again.

I would have loved to see Drew McIntyre take out the Undertaker. I know it's a huge push, but I would much rather see McIntyre vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania, instead of Undertaker vs. Wade Barrett. Don't get me wrong, Barrett is a huge heel, but he's already had the Nexus (and now the Corre) to get him huge heat. He's a natural leader and I love his place, and I do think he can continue being a big draw on his own. McIntyre however, needs that big push that only the Undertaker can deliver.

Hi, i'm new at the forum, and im a portuguese fan (european one).
:p
- Well first of, i would love to see Evan Bourne turning Heel and a cocky superstar, but Daniel Bryan has been a heck of a superstar, and I like him.

- McIntyre is my favourite superstar in all WWE, I'm tottaly loving this storyline with Kelly Kelly, I really want to see Drew becoming a face, and that idea of having a feud with Undertaker, is ridiculoous, i dont think that Drew and Undertaker was a good feud,
I'd love to see Drew entering in a feud with the Corre for helping Big Show, that idea IS AWSOME!!
Maybe later in that year he could really fight for one big title, but he needs some time, and a feud with the corre, was a hell of a push.:lol::lol:
