New Main- Event Picture

incrediblesim

Dark Match Winner
I know how everyone has been talking about S/D! new and improved Main- Event picture but we would have to assume that after Sunday at NOC new feuds will start and we will see what RAW will be like for the next year or so.
If we assume that Taker ends up here on RAW then we have-

Solid Main- Event

John Cena
Randy Orton
The Undertaker
Batista
Shawn Michaels

2nd Level

Chris Jericho
JBL
Rey Mysterio

3rd

CM Punk
William Regal
Lance Cade???

Too weak?? Strong??

My thoughts-

It'll do for this year. They really will have to bring through some new fresh Main- Eventers this year. I think they way to do it is to have guys like Mysterio/Cade/Jericho/Punk (Jericho less than the others but still) are going to have to be pushed hard. If we assume reports are true then they reckon Cade is the real deal. Which is good.

Your thoughts??

I personally do not see the need for more main event level stars on RAW. You just listed 11 guys in the upper-main event, and that is too many as it is. Mind you, I don't want to see the same 2 guys out there every week in the main event. I also understand that the structure of a wrestling card has changed, and there is no more build to the main event, but instead many main events. Not that I want to see Taker and HBK gone, b/c they are still the 2 best workers and 2 of the most popular stars in the company. However, as long as they are around, that is 2 less spots at the top. This is a problem that will not be solved until certain superstars either take on different roles within the company, or just retire.

However, I do see the need for more time, story, and character development in the undercard. Like him or not, I am a big subscriber to Vince Russo's theory of "something for everyone". In other words, there is an actual storyline, character and story development from week to week for everyone on the card, top to bottom. Everyone is growing and their story continues to move forward.

If WWE better utililized their lower to mid card guys, then the issue of credibility wouldn't arise nearly as much once they are pushed as main event level stars. Also, by incorporating storylines for the low-mid carders, more pressure is taken off the main event to carry the entire show. Quite frankly, just because the fans are behind a talent ala C.M. Punk, doesn't mean he is ready for a main event spot either. It means he should be pushed and allowed to develop into a main eventer if he does indeed have what it takes to be that caliber of star. So if someone like Punk, Cade, or Rey get stuck in the mid card on Raw for another year, it isn't necessarily a bad thing, if WWE is devoting ample time to their characters and respective storylines...assuming they have actual storylines.

Im sure Raw will be dominated by the likes of Cena, Batista, Undertaker, and Orton over the next year, plus one other guy (such as a Jericho, CM Punk, or HBK) that will able to move up on their level with them.

As far as the mid-card goes, the WWE needs to start paying a little more attention to it. They need to make it matter more by creating engaging and enticing storylines for these guys, something they haven't been doing lately.

A new title picture would be good, but I dont see that much of a change coming soon, it will obviously be Batista, Orton when he returns and HBK up there, if any change is to come then the only guy ready is Y2J.

It will happen sometime though, hopefully the likes of Batista will be demoted and the likes of Y2J and Kennedy will shine through

I think RAW has a solid main event picture as it is. What they need to do is work on the tag team and mid-card divisions. The only bad thing about this title picture is that it will be dominated by Cena, Orton, and Batista. The top carders will probably have a match here and there but we all know Cena will eventually get the title back (boo) and feud with Big Dave and Randy.

As of right now it's weak.

Randy Orton - Injured.

Undertaker - Most likely soaking up sun somewhere.

We're left with Cena, Batista, HBK and Y2J(?) ..I suppose we have to include CM Punk as well since he's the "Champ" don't we..?

In the long run things look good, I don't like Batista basically at all and while I have respect for Cena's inhuman ability to work and he seems like a genuinely nice guy he was on top for way too long and his actual wrestling is sub par. I'm sure many feel the same way but regardless they are here to stay so let's see where that leaves us..

The most interesting thing going is when Undertaker comes back this sets up some good feuds (Provided he comes back to Raw..Was this confirmed at all?).

Undertaker vs HBK.. while it's been done it's been years and i'm sure this is one 90% of us would love to see again.

Undertaker vs Cena.. As we all know Taker can have a 5 star match with almost anyone and the build up for this and the lingering question of who will get the win has the potential to make this a real edge of your seat match.

Undertaker vs Randy Orton.. I'm not a huge Orton fan but he has improved a lot so this could be a rivalry worth revisiting.

HBK vs CM Punk - I think CM Punk has been all down hill since a impressive debut but if WWE wants to make him legit some decent matches with the show stopper could possibly get him there.

HBK vs Batista - The way the feud left off between them feels like it needs to be revisited imo.

Cena vs Batista - Asking for this match to be good might be at a stretch but let's face it - when it happens WWE will consider this to be HUGE. The match should have enough scripting to make it a lot better then it should be and with two of the biggest names locking up for the 1st time it would be really interesting to see who gets the W. In spight of me not being a fan of either i'm actually looking forward to this one for those reasons.

Batista vs Randy Orton - I can't picture this managing to be anything above 3 stars and a two star match would surprise me but atleast the back story between them could make for interesting build up.

CM Punk vs Ortion - This again could help solidify Punk with out being that aweful of a match.

CM Punk vs Y2H - Same as CM Punk vs Orton.

Really I see CM Punk vs HBK the way to go.. HBK is small enough that he doesn't have the ability to squash people really and he's good enough that if you make him work for it you look good. He's also a ideal opponent imo for Punk to be able to show off his move list against. He's the best of both worlds.. making him work for it doesn't make HBK look bad and having a good showing against him or winning makes you look good. There really isn't anything to lose by going this way.

Matches I don't want to see

JBL vs Anyone - The guy has been cutting the same promo ever since he 1st won a major belt and his in ring ability makes Cena and Batista look amazing. The guy is just fucking horrible.

CM Punk vs Undertaker - Undertaker should be used as a measuring stick. You should have to earn a feud with him. You've made it big.. you've beat top names.. now can you do it against the undertaker? Sure CM Punk is champion but that's a joke. Anything with Undertaker vs someone in the Mid card in a serious feud is a joke imo and done way too often. Undertaker should be reserved for Main event caliber matches with the bigger names. HBK, HHH, Cena, Edge ect. and not for testing the waters to see if you can 1st make something of your self. The guy is too big, too good and his persona just don't make it believeable.

Batista vs CM Punk - Between Batista being as bad as he is and CM Punk being sloppy and lacking experience this match has train wreck written all over it.. though that alone may make it worth watching. I picture more moves being botched then not and someone possibly breaking their neck.

Y2J vs Anyone - I'm mixed on Y2J, him on the Microphone just feels silly a lot of the time. I always seem to expect more out of his matches. He had huge build up for his return and still couldn't get the crowd over basically forcing them to turn him heel. He looks ridiculous with short hair and really has never done anything of value except being the 1st undisputed champion which was a total fucking joke. The WWE giving it to him just make everyone involved look dumb. There's a reason Y2J always ends up heel in WWE.. when he's face nobody seems to care about it. He just really seems to lack "it". Not to mention they dropped the ball on re invigorating Y2J's career and the IC belt. Even if the belt was a foot note a ladder match for it would have done well for everyone and every belt involved. A pointless feud between the two of them over HBK telling lies and nothing more lacks substance imo. Especially with how personal they are trying to make this thing.

All in all there's the potential for good things to happen but I expect WWE to dissapoint as usual.
