The Holy One

What's really good?
I notice a thread that talk about Edge coming back to a new theme earlier today. Instead of this:

It would be this:

It got me thinking that in the past most legends in the business had the one theme that stuck with them like HBK's Sexy Boy, Undertaker's Graveyard Symphony, Bret Hart's Hart Attack, Hulk Hogan's Real American (until he joined the nWo and got that Hollywood theme), Triple H's The Game, Y2J's Break Down the Walls, etc.

I wondered about the main eventers that are looked to lead this new generation. For now, I think it's John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, Christian, and John Morrison. Out of these seven mentioned who do you think theme song has that feeling that it WILL never be replaced. For me, it'll have to be Edge for his just have that feel that could work for a face or heel and it happens to be my favorite theme song besides Oh Radio.

I'm confused. What do you mean by had one song and stuck to it? Undertaker and HHH have both had several songs over there careers. Also, Cena, Edge, Orton, and Hardy have all had at least two themes.

Only time Undertaker change his theme was when he was the Ministry leader and the American Badass for four years, but for the most part of his career he has kept that same kind of slow funeral song. As for Triple H, since 2001 The Game has been his song that's eight years he used even during the DX and Evolution days. I considered that to be sticking to it. As for the rest, I know they had have other themes in the past. I'm just saying which one has the best chance of sticking with their current theme. I hope that clarified things for you.

Its all about their character. if they go heel or face chances r they will change their song cuz peeps will always associate the song to their previous status. I voted Cena just for the fact that it will never be possible for him 2 go heel unless they want every child who loves him (which is 90% of his fan base) to stop watching wrestling cuz their hero is a now a villian.

I don't see Cena's or Hardy's ever changing. They're completely over with those, the crowd knows from the start who it is etc, they won't change. CM Punk will probably keep his too I think. Morrison and Christian are probably most likely to change (if anyone will) even though Christian's is pretty sick..

Orton will probably never change either, it fits him pretty well now, much better than his old one.

o ok. i understand now i gues we just have different views on sticking to it lol. While he was the American Bad Ass he had like three different themes. Also HHH since leaving DX the first time has come out to "King of Kings", "My Time", and two different versions of "The Game" and maybe others but i can't remember.

but in my opinion i don't know which WILL keep there themes but i hope its Morrison I think it may be the only one (except for CM Punk) that has been proven to work with him as face and heel.

Punk's will only change when the license expires. I heard this Coming Home theme song rumour for ages, but there was any backing or evidence to it, just rumours. I think Metalingus says Edge, no matter if he's face or heel, it suits him and fits him appropriately. But then even if it did change, Edge will always have an awesome theme song, Rob Zombie, Alter Bridge, he's got great music taste.

Christian's I can't see changing only cause it's new and they needed to update with Waterproof Blonde now no longer together. Hardy's won't change, neither will Cena.

Morrison's will most likely change in the future, pending on where his character goes

I love Coming Home, but I can't see them changing Metalingus (which I also love), especially since Coming Home doesn't seem like its written for Edge, but rather, just another song out there.

Christian's "Just Close Your Eyes" I think will be switched up a little bit, but not to a different song.

Jeff Hardy's "No More Words" is staying the same. Its basically his first song, "Loaded", but upgraded anyway. If he's had that all these years, he won't be losing it.

I can see CM Punk having a song change, but maybe not. To me, it just seems like people usually change at least once. Orton had Burn in my Light and for a long while it seemed like that would be his ultimate theme, but now we have Voices - which he'll probably keep. CM Punk might get a new song.

John Cena definitely. Eventually they're going to turn him heel. It might not be for a long time, but it'll happen. He'll have a new song for that, if not sooner.

John Morrison...hm. That's tough. I could see him keeping this theme for the rest of his career much like HBK's "Sexy Boy", but I wouldn't be surprised if he was given something else. We'll just have to see.

One person I'm waiting for is Matt Hardy. I think he needs a new haircut and a new theme.

Zack Ryder is going to get a new theme when he eventually abandons the current gimmick, which I hope isn't for a while cause I love that gimmick and I love "Oh Radio" even if I can't find a full, clear version of the song online yet lol. Too many loops on YouTube that claim to be full :(

Cody Rhodes is definitely going to get a new theme. I'd like DiBiase to go back to V3 of Priceless when he splits off from Legacy. That's a great theme.

Evan Bourne will have a new theme at some point. They always give someone a new theme with lyrics in it nowadays.

The same goes for The Miz - though they may just put lyrics to the song he currently has or something.

Out of all of those in which you mentioned in this thread?

Hmm.... I actually think of all the songs that you mentioned, there's one there that you forgot to mention, which seems to have a longevity that will outlast any of the songs you've mentioned, and that is Voices.

I'm not sure why, but I really can't see Randy Orton turning into a full out face for a little while. I think the guy is destined to play the role of a hell, namely because

A. He's so good at what he does as a heel.
B. He leaves a lot to be lacked as a full fledged face.

And while wrestlers like John Cena and Edge are certainly identifiable by their music, at some point, I'd have to imagine that even these characters might make tweaks to how they portray themselves, and thus, their music will have to change to fit their personality. Randy's music is great in that it captures the image of his character, and can last very long with the character he currently portrays.

The next logical choice for me would have to be CM Punk's theme music. Again, the only thing that worries about this song, as well as with Randy's music, is that they are produced by other bands outside of Vince's library, and Vince usually sees it fit to change music when that is the case. I'm pretty sure that Vince usually likes his talent to have music that is under his library brand, and therefore is prone to changing up music and artists that accompany a wrestler to the ring. Otherwise, though, I feel that Voices and This Fire Burns are the most likely to be kept for their respective wrestlers, as they fit their characters so well, and are so recognizable with the man they introduce to the ring.

John Cena's song will never change but I hope that Edge's song doesnt change. Its one of my favorite theme of all time.

Nah, Voices is there, it's right after Metalingus, but I have to agree with you on Orton and Punk. For me, the one that will be changed is John Morrison. I for one think it's already and suits him well, but if I had to pick one I think his is it.

I voted John Cena. His theme song personifies who he is with today's fans. If he were to go back to "Basic Thuganomics", a lot of little kids would be wondering what's going on? At least until they see the tron video. I for one would completely mark out. But back to the topic at hand. If there's one person who's theme song shouldn't change, it's definitely Cena.

I hope it doesn't change as it is one of my favorites. As for that other song,Edge changing to that would be like :wtf:.That song makes me :zzzz:.Yes.It makes me think of Z's.But Cena's will never change.Ever.

Well the thing about Edge's theme song is that the song itself doesn't matter. As long as it has the "you think you know me" part then people will pop or boo. That's the part of Edge's theme that hasn't changed since like 1999 or something.
I think John Cena's will change. It'll be a thing where he'll released a new album, choose a song from his album to be his new theme song so the commentators can push the album whenever he comes out. Make sense?
I voted CM Punk because his music suits him very nicely. And the music of a superstar is never changed when it really fits them. The only problem I can see arising with that is if there's some legal issues with Killswitch engage, like there was for The Undertaker and Limp Bizkit. But I'm hoping Punk keeps that song, cause I really like it.
