NBA Draft Thread

Big Sexy

Deadly Rap Cannibal
With the finals over there is a quick turn around to the draft as it is in just 6 days. The Wizards have the number one pick and are basically guaranteed to take John Wall. After that it gets a little more complicated, especially after Sacramento and Philly made a trade the other day. Samuel Dalembert went to the Kings for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes. This means Philly will probably be looking at a big man rather then Evan Turner, and the Kings will most likely go for a small forward like Al-Farouq Aminu. This could lead to Demarcus Cousins falling to the 6 or 7 spot.

Keep all draft related talk in here. Who could be some steals in the draft? Which players are overrated and will be busts? What do you think your team will do and who do you want them to take? Go nuts.

This is today, isn't it? Certainly came out of nowhere. Wall is obviously going #1, as he should. The Wizards still are going to be a mess with Arenas and his huge contract still there. Not sure how there's going to be enough shots for both of them and whether or not Arenas will threaten to shoot Wall up after an especiall rough game.

It still looks like Turner is the sure #2, even though Philly already has talented wing guys like Young and Iggy (whose huge contract that haven't been able to trade). The next 3 will more than likely be Favors, Cousins, and Wes Johnson in some order. After that, who knows?

More than a few teams will be looking to trade out of their spots (G-State, Indiana, etc.) and there just aren't any guys you can be sure of that'll be left at that point. Monroe, Aminu, or and Udoh could all got at #6 or fall out of the top 10.

As for a semi-sleeper, Jordan Crawford is going to really be able to score in the NBA. There have been questions about his attitude and whatnot, but if you can get a guy like him in the 20s of a weak draft like this, you have to do it. Also, can't wait for Zubeck to get drafted. Will definetly be a high comedy moment.

I agree 100% about Jordan Crawford. He could be the steal of the draft especially if he goes late in the first round like he's projected to. I see him as a Jamal Crawford type of player. They are similar in size, both great athletes, and both great shooters with ridiculous range. There is always a place for scorers in the NBA.

Another thing to look out for is the Pistons trading up to get Demarcus Cousins. It would be a perfect situation for both teams but as of right now the price tag seems a bit too high to move up. If they can't move up I expect them to take either Greg Monroe or Ed Davis with the 7th pick.

The Sixers better draft Evan Turner (that is unless John Wall is there, but I really doubt that is the case). I'm not big on Favors and Turner is a guy who I am a huge fan of and I think he would be great for Doug Collins and crew. Maybe then work a trade to get Iggy out of town, as his contract is ridiculous, but I'm all for keeping him either way. I just don't want to see Thad Young get traded, as many here in Philly believe to be the case.

All the reports out right now are saying that the top three picks are all basically locks. It will be Wall to Washington, Turner to Philly, and Favors to the Nets. Even Wes Johnson to the T Wolves is close to a lock at 4. After that is where things really get interesting.
