NBA all star weekend!!

Where did all of you NBA fans come from? Thought it was just me and Khalifa :p

I told you before man Warriors were my team.

No I was not a fucking bandwagon jumper, I follow players more than teams, and Curry became a favorite of mine in the NCAA tournament when he was with Davidson.

Before that it was AI and Garnett. After Garnett went to the Nets I switched to the Warriors and Curry. Gonna stick with them even if he ain't on the team now I think. I do keep an eye on the T'Wolves just because they're the closest to me.

I used to be the biggest NBA fan on the planet.

Then Chris Webber retired and each year after that my love for the sport dwindled further and further.

I'm starting to get back into LSU basketball though now that they've finally put together a nice little squad (and next year they have the top prospect in the nation coming).

The NBA though, like I said I really like the Slash Brothers, and I would really be digging this Hawks underdog story if they didn't play in ATL, but I really hate the rules today, I hate how buddy-buddy everyone is, I hate the corny swag culture, etc. It's hard picturing myself getting that passion I used to have for it ever again.

Honestly dude, the talent has never been better. Even in the days of Jordan reigning supreme has there ever been this massive influx of talent that's around the league. Now's the time to really get into it. Just look at the Western Conference. It's fucking insane how many good teams there are.

I do agree I'd like to see a more physical grinding style, but that's what we have Memphis for with Mark Gasol and Rudolph clogging up the paint. Otherwise you're seeing more artistry put into motion with the NBA today, and the advent of sabremetrics have really taken off, showing the midrange 2 is worthless compared to the post option and the 3 point shots. It's a smarter NBA nowadays and it's a treat to really sit down and watch it and breakdown how teams are succeeding.

That all being said, KG is one of the last old school players that got right in your face and talked shit constantly to you to get in your head. That and AI just being ridiculously awesome and putting a team of nobodies on his back to the finals. Not to mention that the stars of the NBA don't want to take on their rivals, they'd rather join up with them instead. However, even looking through history you really need 2 or 3 big time players to make it. Dallas was probably the last team that didn't have a big 2 or 3 if you will that won a title. But looking back the Lakers had Kobe/Gasol or Kobe/Shaq, the Spurs had Duncan/Ginobilli/Parker, Heat had Wade/Bosh/Lebron.

Really everything is growing smarter in the NBA. GM's aren't dropping huge contracts on players that are 3rd tier at best like they used to, and the specialists are becoming more important than ever. It's why a Ray Allen even when he's not anywhere close to the player he used to be is so coveted by the contending teams. He may only play 15 minutes a game, but if he gives you that crucial 3 point shot when it matters, it's all worth it.

The NBA has been entertaining as hell lately. All these young players are coming in and making an impact. Even if that impact isn't immediate, they're still great pieces for the future and will be great players in due time. Yeah, the tough, grind it out style is definitely gone but there are still some teams out there that play like that such as the Grizzlies. That's why it's interesting to see how they play against the different styles of basketball. Grizzlies/Warriors would be a great Western Conference Final imo.

The NBA has been at it's most popular right now. It's pretty awesome to see. If you watch the season right now, you can't choose one team that'll take it all in the end. The league is that good. There's about 6-8 teams out there that have a legit chance at winning the NBA Championship, how awesome is that?

Not only that, but you see these young players do some special things. Look at Klay Thompson, who scored 37 points in ONE quarter. Which is the most points in any quarter. That's more than Kobe, who scored 81 points in one game and Wilt Chamberlain, who scored 100 points in a game (when the 3 point line didn't exist).

Any other NBA fans out there?

I've always big a huge NBA fan, hell I tried to lead the LDs for it a couple of years ago, I actually find today's NBA more entertaining than Jordan's era and the early 2000s. I don't believe there's ever been a period in the NBA where having a complete team meant more than it does now.

If nothing else, just follow Anthony Davis in the next few years. He's gonna dominate the league soon if he stays injury free and gets a decent coach.

Yeah you can't go wrong with today's era or Jordans one if you ask me. Defense was awesome pack then and you got to see great footwork from big man every single quarter of every single game, but nowadays you get the pull up 3's which is cool because offense isn't boring. The league has disappeared from the 1 star per team rule and that makes for an exciting playoffs. It even keeps the regular season entertaining because now OKC are 0.5 of a game out of the playoffs. They should make it but will they with Phoenix and New Orleans right there?

Of course the answer is yes but it's still entertaining.

I like the NBA in theory, the games themselves ain't bad and the talent is GREAT, its just one of those sports that has WAYYYYYYYYYY too many games for my liking. 70+ regular season and playoffs that go 5-7 just have no way of feeling like there is any sense of urgency or tension for me. I simply can not be brought to care about game 47 sometime in the second week of January.

MY interest doesnt get locked in til usually game 4ish of every playoff series.
