MVP: The WWE homegrown Booker T?

Pre-Show Stalwart
It's not that hard to look at the "rap sheets" of both MVP and Booker T. in comparaion. Not just because there black or anything. It's just the fact that both wrestlers (for the time being) have gone down the same path to become wrestling stars.

-Both started off in crime
-Both got into wrestling to stay out of crime
-Former United States Champions
-Former Tag Team Champions
-Both wrestled in TNA for awhile
-Have brothers in the wrestling business
...anything else?

What I'm trying to say is. With the WWE trying to make a new top "black wrestler" in the company at the level of the Rock and the Junkyard Dog. Should it matter what race a wrestler is to get a big push in wrestling? It doesn't to me!

So is or should MVP be the one to get that racial push, and be the WWE's top black superstar like Booker T was in WCW?

booker t wrestled in a tag team for a long time before getting a shot as a singles star. Mvp has wrestled for three years and got tons of breaks. Don't compare the two on paths.

So is or should MVP be the one to get that racial push, and be the WWE's top black superstar like Booker T was in WCW?

He should be featured as a top player in Smackdown, even gunning for the title. But as far as racially I have to say no. His pigmentation should have absolutely nothing to do with it. He is an impressive competitor in my eyes, and can actually make me care about a match. As a face he is over fairly well, and as a heel he is even moreso.

Give it time; WWE shouldn't drop an oppurtunity like MVP. Hell even his name rings success.

I think they are two completely different people.I think Booker T has loads more charisma than MVP,not to say that MVP isn't up there, but the Booker-man was ,ic gold when they were fresh off the invasion, teaming with goldust and let's not forget KING BOOKAH!

I think all in all no one should be compared to anyone in the business because legends aren't made that way.

Actually, if you've read the news, WWE are already starting to look for that black star...its the reason they gave the us and ic titles to r-truth and kofi kingstion respectively...I think MVP shouldn't be left out of this...he is great in the ring and can cut a promo...i think it maybe because he will be a heel soon? IDK...i would love to see him as World champion..

I don't think so. Everyone just has to face the facts.....MVP most likely will never be consistently put into the main event, and he's just not that good. His matches are usually mediocre or terrible, and he is VERY boring as a face. Was MVP a better heel? yes he was, and a heel turn would only help him. Becoming a bad guy again would not sky rocket him into the main event, and he wouldn't become a multiple time World Heavyweight Champion.

While Booker T's glory days did happen during the dying days of WCW, he was still better than MVP. Booker puts a great amount of energy into his promos, and his in ring work is far better than anything MVP has ever done inside the squared circle. He also was able to pull the King Booker gimmick off very well.

So you really can not compare MVP to Booker, because Booker was just better in every way. MVP might get near the Intercontinental title some where down the line, but I seriously doubt he will ever become World Heavyweight Champion or be elevated to main event status.

Booker T is about 5 million times better the MVP. Better in the ring, on the mic, far more entertaining, and unlike MVP, Booker could pull off being a face and a heel very well. MVP has been given opportunities as a face and failed. Booker T took advantage of every opportunity he was given whether it was a main event spot or a tag team with Goldust.

Well, MVP is just about unremarkable in every way. He's completely undeserving of a title run. He even wears those silly nose things on occasion. So yeah, I'd say that's a pretty apt comparison.

How can you compare MVP to Booker T? MVP still has a long way to go in the WWE before he can be on par with Booker T. MVP did look credible at one point in his WWE career and that started after his series of bouts with Chris Benoit. His future looked bright in terms of climbing to the main event ranks and holding the US title and WWE Tag title at the same time. But, look at him today. Even his movement looks like slow motion (although that might have something to do with his abnormal heart rate?). Let's examine Booker T. Remember Harlem Heat? 10-time World Tag Team Champions in WCW. I'm just as impressed with Billy Gunn's WWE tag reigns. Anyway, Harlem Heat was popular and this was before Booker T broke out on his own. He's had awesome feuds with Benoit and Finlay and the Steiner Brothers during a time when the WCW Television title still meant something. Basically, he's won every major title in the WCW before it was purchased by the WWE. His success in the WWE was even grander. Not only did he win the WCW title here, he went on to win the Tag titles, IC title, KOTR AND WHC. So, there you go. Booker T is miles ahead of MVP and besides the fact sheet that you displayed, there's nothing they have in common as far as talent is concerned. MVP has decent mic skills, but he's sinking so fast that no one really cares about him anymore. Meanwhile, Booker T won two more titles in TNA before leaving that promotion. To me, Booker T is a legend.

Naw,
MVP's a little to green to be compared to Booker T
MVP
Ballin"
Booker T
Spinarooni
2 completly diffrent styles and personas

MVP is nothing like Booker T. I like MVP, but he's not at Booker's level anyway, at least not yet (and maybe not ever). While MVP certainly gets the crowd going, Booker T was far more charismatic and "electric" to watch in the ring. Booker T has always been a versatile character, especially in his stint in WWE, where he was engaged in a hilarious feud with Stone Cold, resulting in one of the funniest moments on WWE television (the famous supermarket brawl). Also, as other have pointed out, Harlem Heat were one of the most dominant tag teams in WCW history. MVP has not developed his reputation the same way.

I Think mvp is way more deserving of what he receives currently. Currently I will say he is being used better than he was previously being on RAW,is he ready for world title contendership? mmmmmmm not quite but he is deserving of more than jobber status on Superstars. He was the longest U.S champion in WWE history (WCW days excluded) his feuds with Chris Benoit,Kane and Matt Hardy were the best and he gets a decent reaction and I don't care what anyone else says is better in the ring then most of what we see in WWE. Can you compare him and Booker T? No they are vastly different with very different wrestling styles. While I will admit his promos may need work currently, because they were better as an heel, they have gotten better and i have noticed his reactions are getting better. But you cannot compare them just because of there race as the two are entirely different.
