Mr. Perfect

Pre-Show Stalwart
I have been watching some old early 90's footage of Mr. Perfect and especially his face run, and i thought it was great at the time.. and I like it even better now. He was a heel the majority of his career in WWE and WCW.. but that face turn in 1992 and 1993 before he turned heel again at Wrestlemania 10 I thought was amazing. Even though it was brief.. a Face Perfect in my opinion was better than a Heel perfect.. To me He just had the look of a face.. maybe not the attitude but the look for sure..

So which side of Mr. Perfect did you guys prefer.. Face or Heel?
Opinions?

Mr. Perfect is one of my five favorite wrestlers of all-time, and I thought he was great either way. There was something cool about that face run, because it felt like finally the rest of the fans were catching on that Curt Hennig was truly a talent worth cheering for.

The one negative thing about his face run was that he couldn't be all-out cocky like he was as a heel. He wasn't that toned down, but I would have liked to see him as full-throttle full of it as he was in 1990.

So maybe I slightly preferred Hennig being a heel, but all-in-all I didn't really care; I was just glad to see the man wrestle. During that time he was Ric Flair's executive consultant, I was pretty upset that he wasn't wrestling; when he came back to replace the Ultimate Warrior as Randy Savage's partner against Flair and Razor Ramon, I was f'ing stoked. It was truly an honor to watch Perfect work--one of the greatest ever.

As an aside, I met Mr. Perfect at a hotel/restaurant in Milwaukee in 1991, about a week before WrestleMania VII and his match against the Big Bossman. I just happened to run into him walking in the lobby. He was a heel at the time, but he was the nicest guy to me (I was 12 at the time). He gave me an autograph and we talked for a few minutes about wrestling. He had no obligation to even give me a second glance, but he took the time out to talk to me and truly make me feel important. Curt Hennig was a great wrestler, a great man, and I miss him very much.

I preferred heel Mr. Perfect, but he was awesome as a face also after turning on Flair, Heenan, and Ramon right before Survivor Series 1992 and teaming up with the Macho Man. He was awesome whether he was a heel or a face (like Randy Savage, who I consider the GOAT). It's really a shame about his injury problems because he was the total package, one of my top 5 favorite wrestlers of all time. He would have been a great WWF Champion in 1993 during his face run, and could have been just as popular (if not more) of a champion as Bret Hart.

He was the best as a heel I remember as a kid I didn't like him since he was a heel but as I got older I realized how good of a wresler he actually was and good his character was. it made me think how thats a true heel and he could actually draw real heel heat. He is the greatest wrestler who knew never won the heavyweight title

Mr. Perfect is one of the GOAT. I have been watching WWE since 1984. I was a huge fan of Perfect and Rick Rude being I was from Minnesota and they were too.

My Perfect was a better heel then a face. He knew how to agitate a crowd, and get the best out of a face. In those days, being a face was easy, just go out and say the right thing, flash a smile, a few cliche's and you were in with the crowd. Mr. Perfect did a phenomenal job of getting heat from crowds.

Aberle4Life.........I have not met Mr. Perfect, but I have met his father, Larry "The Axe" Henning on several occasions being we live in the same community. He, like Curt, is a very grounded and pleasant individual. He loves to talk wrestling, and doesn't look down on smart marks.

But again, Perfect was a MUCH better heel then face.

I dont emember Hennig winning many matches by pinfall as a face, he was there to elevate the next batch of guys. Mr Perfect, the heel, is one of the top 5 WWE superstars of all time. No comparison.
That Hennig did not attain a WWE championship run was a lost opportunity for Vince, when he would have been a much better option than Sgt Slaughter in early 1991. The argument that they were playing off the Iraq war does not hold up, Vince thought he would have sold over 100,000 tickets to the LA. Coliseu but they had to move it to the LA Sports Arena due to only selling not quite 18000 tickets. Hogan vs Slaughter bombed terribly, Hennig vs Hogan would have been great fun.

"Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig is definately in my all-time "Fav Five." Much like Booker T's "Fav Five" mine also has probably at least a dozen. Hennig as a heel was........ simply perfect..... pun intended. Great in the ring, great on the mic, great at elevating those he is in the ring with. Easily one of the best heels in the history of the business. Mr. Perfect should haev NEVER been a babyface wrestler. It was in his blood. Just a natural heel. Much in the way of todays Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes. I am in NO WAY comparing those two to Perfect, just merely stating that they as well are natural heels.
