Mr. Anderson: Back on the Path to Full-Blown Heel?

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
The choice to use Disco Inferno of all people in the "Scorpion Sitdown" segment aside, between that segment, last week's when he first dressed as old school Sting and attacked him at the close of IMPACT Wrestling, and the various segments designed to build this feud between he and Sting over the last few weeks since he won the battle royal to become the #1 contender, it seems like the tweener Anderson we've all come to know is slowly dissipating into the full-blown heel incarnation, no?

As far as I'm concerned, heel Anderson is, and always has been the best Anderson there is.

Yes, he's still cheered by the fans to an extent, especially with the whole 'asshole' thing, but if he continues down this path of using standard heel tactics, those cheers should slowly turn into boos, especially if it's coming at the expense of someone like Sting.

Thoughts on this?

Is this the right route to go with Anderson, or is his tweener role better in the long-term for his character?

I think they have to because they need more people to feel it is good vs. evil. I like it and I hope he wins at the PPV.

Yes it is the right route yet it should have happened 3 months ago. A Face/Face(Tweener)/Face angle just doesn't work.

I think it's already working anyway, there was a good spattering of boo's during the segment. Anderson saying he was going to 'bury' Sting got a bit of heat and rightfully so.

p.s. I want to now officially give my nomination for 'best pro wrestling promo of the year' award to Disco Inferno...

"You call yourself an Asshole, the way I see it, you are just a dick." - classic.

It's not a huge change as far as his character goes but if you try to act like a smartass in front of a legend like Sting, you are boun to get that reaction. There is after all a very thin line between an antihero and a heel. If he was doing the same things to a mega over heel, maybe Anderson would have gotten a face reaction.

But history suggests that he has always done better as a heel than as a face. I think that he could have gotten over even as a face if he had been presented as the sole challenge to a dominant heel faction. His character was working well for the first few weeks after Immortal was formed but it just went haywire when both RVD and Sting showed up to challenge Immortal. Both, as faces, are much more popular than Anderson and by opposing them Anderson transformed into a chronic whiner.

I guess that with the presence of so many faces like Sting, RVD, Angle and Fortune, heel is the best route to go for Anderson.

I miss Disco! Anderson definitely is in true heel mode, I think that is best for his character right now.

Heel Anderson is the way to go. Although i don't mind the tweener thing they(TNA) were doing, Anderson is way better as a heel. Remember when he was heel in WWE? He was beating world champions night in and night out. If Anderson wins the title he should join Immortal as their main man.

I don't think he's heel or face.. he's neutral... he is... MR... ANDDDERSSONNNN.... ANDDDERSSOONNNN... he is no normal wrestler... he does what he wants.. when he wants.. and if his assholes follow him then so be it... if they despise him.. well then so be it... the guy is an asshole...

It's just that he's feuding with the Icon Sting... he's poking fun at The Icon Sting... of course some Sting fans are going to be disrespected by it and boo him...

Definitively. After last night I consider him as a heel. People actually started booing him when he attacked Disco Inferno.

TNA needs a top heel. When J. Hardy left, TNA wanted to make Bully Ray the main heel. I guess it did not work out very well. So now it is time for Anderson. IMO he will be better in this role than Bully Ray. Also, he is facing Sting (a top face) for world title and face vs face or face vs twiner does not sound as good as classic setup face vs heel.

Please go full blown heel. The program he had with Kurt Angle last year that ended with a five star classic last year was awesome. It's amazing that they built the full heel Anderson with a fan favorite like Angle and the blow was the best match out of the lot. That is how you work a storyline.

Straight after that, he went to being a tweener which was just boring and stale. Get him full blown heel immediately.

Anderson's character sure is interesting to say the least, and it seems like it gets adjusted every few weeks. Im really big on Anderson so I've enjoyed him in all his roles, but his full blown heel role is damn impressive. His heel work with Angle and Pope last year was just amazing and his work with Sting so far has been solid.

Personally I'd rather see Anderson as a hard-edged face, so basically the Anderson we saw from November-January when it was Anderson vs all of Immortal. It made Anderson look like a complete badass while keeping his asshole character in tact. The only thing I don't like about Anderson as a heel as that they book him cowardly sometimes. Just like this past week on Impact Wrestling, Anderson ran like a little girl after the real Sting came out, but I guess the heel has to act like a little bitch sometimes.

Regardless of what role Anderson is in, it will be entertaining regardless, and I will enjoy it. Since Anderson is about to get the strap, it would make more sense for him to be more on the heel side, as TNA is full of great babyfaces that are ready for the title as well. It would probably be better that way, as the last thing you would want would be for people to start to boo guys like Morgan and Styles because they are feuding with Anderson.

You say back on the path to full blown heel? I think he's already there. After just watching the "Scorpion Sitdown" there was no indication to me that he's a tweener anymore. In fact when the guy you're in a feud with comes out to help the guy you just laid out in a cheap fashion, and then cowardly run away once he hits the ring. That's standard heel tactic right there.

This does work better for Anderson though, he just seems more comfortable as a heel and his promo work will be better as well.

Anderson needs to go heel! His best work is as a heel... So many more open options with him heel over face.... Anderson/RVD... I know we've seen it but it works... Anderson/Styles... could be classic matches for the title... Anderson/Jeff(Once he's off the drugs and stays clean) Bring Jeff in as face... works much better for Jeff anyway... Along with many others.... But turn Anderson Heel and retire Sting

I can't speak for everyone, but I think he's already a heel. The fans weren't nearly as receptive to his antics on this past weeks edition of Impact. Actually, they were doing quite a bit of booing, and that's somewhat shocking, given the setting.

I didn't care for his tweener character. To be honest, I don't care for him. But, if he's being booed, drawing heat, I can't complain. You can't bash Sting, and get away with it. That should be the theme of the story. If you want someone to turn heel, go after Sting, aggressively.

I welcome this change. Like I said earlier, I'm not a fan of the guy, but, he's far better as a full-blown heel, no question.
