Most stacked position in sports

PsychoBlack

Damn it feels good to be a Taylor!!
This just has to be said. I have never seen a spot in any league with so many GREAT players than point guard in the NBA right now. Lets take a look in no specific order.
Derrick Rose
Chris Paul
Steve Nash
Baron Davis
Deron Williams
Tony Parker
Russell Westbrook
Rajon Rondo
Brandon Jennings
John Wall
These are all excellent players and i'm sure i left some people out. Is there a better position in any sport?

This is kind of a hard question because all those point guards you named aren't at the same level. I could name 15 great wide receivers right now or I could name more than ten great outfielders in baseball right now. I can see where your coming from though because their's a ton of great point guards in the nba right now. Oh and Black Baron Davis shouldn't be on that list.

These guys belong on this list. They all range from good players (Baron) to a Hall of Fame player (Nash)

John Wall
You have got to be shitting me with this one. The guy has played what, 5 games in the NBA, and I think only 1 of them would be considered good. He's talented, but doesn't belong anywhere near a list of GREAT players.

I would say that NFL Quarterback is a better list then this one.

Definite Hall of Fame/possibly Greatest of All Time:
-Peyton Manning
-Tom Brady

Definite Hall of Fame:
-Brett Favre
-Drew Brees

Veterans that have a shot at the Hall:
-Donovan McNabb

Youngish veterans guys that have proven to be great players:
-Philip Rivers
-Ben Roethlisberger
-Aaron Rodgers

Celebrity QB that has talent
-Tony Romo

Not so Young guy that has been very good when he plays:
-Vince Young

Young guys that have played well and have Tremendous Upside Potential:
-Matt Ryan
-Joe Flacco
-Josh Freeman (I'm on the bandwagon that was started by Bill Simmons)

Guys that will be on the list eventually (maybe not yet), but if John Wall is on the NBA PG list, then these guys belongs on the NFL QB list:
-Matt Stafford
-Mark Sanchez
-Sam Bradford

That list is MUCH deeper then the NBA Point Guard list (16>10), and I would say the talent level on average is higher (4 definite HOFers, 1 maybe, 3 young guys that could get in if they keep up the pace, and 5 2nd-3rd year guys).

I'm going to have to agree with Storm here and go with NFL QBs. When it comes to that PG list, Wall shouldn't be on there and neither should Davis. At any rate, there are a great number of QBs out there right now. Storm already made a list so I don't need to do the same, but I can make a case for each guy (except for Romo, and its not because I'm a Redskins fan either). You guys HoF guys, guys who have won multiple titles, young guys who put up great numbers and are on there way. Yea, I would say QB is the best position out there.

1st Base is a top heavy position. Look at this list, anyone would be glad to have ANY of these guys:

Albert Pujols
Miguel Cabrera
Adrian Gonzalez
Joey Votto
Mark Texeira
Paul Konerko
Justin Morneau
Ryan Howard
Derek Lee (while he's getting older, he's still a pretty good fielder and decent hitter)
Adam Dunn
and even Aubrey Huff, who had a good 2010 after a rather poor 09.

That's 9 shoe ins, with at least 2 other possibilities. That's quite a good class to be in, and it's just stacked with power hitters from all over the country.

I know you're a Derrick Rose fan, but he doesn't belong among the best PGs in the game. There will be a time, but right now, no.

For top PGs, you're looking at...

Chris Paul
Deron Williams
Steve Nash
Rajon Rondo

Second-tier PGs

Russell Westbrook
Baron Davis
Tony Parker
Brandon Jennings
Derrick Rose

Jury is still out

John Wall

1. Baron Davis is no longer a great or even good point guard and hasn't been since he left Golden State. With the Clippers he has just been underachieving and out of shape.

2. As much as I love the point guards in the NBA and qb's in the NFL, it's hard to argue against pitcher as the deepest position. Even if you break it down and just go with starting pitchers it's still the deepest. Felix Hernandez, Roy Halladay, Tim Lincecum, CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee, David Price, Roy Oswalt, Ubaldo Jimenez, Johan Santana, Chris Carpenter, Cole Hamels, Jonathon Sanchez, Matt Cain, Justin Verlander, Johnny Cueto, Francisco Lariano, Tim Hudson, Josh Johnson. Way too many aces and other great pitchers for this to really even be a question.

I thought pitching too, and this year might have been a great pitching year but it's hard to say it's really the deepest. You have 32 teams all with 5 starting pitchers and not every ace is a true ace. You also only have about 5 pitchers per league that are usually in consideration for the Cy Young and you have all the starters that don't start all their starts because they get sent to the minors and things of that nature. So really you have less than a 5th of your players at that position that are even the best on the team.

If it's baseball I think 1st is the deepest and the best pool of talent.
