I Can See You... MWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAH
This has probably been done before. Couldn't find a current thread though.

Simple really. Who do you think is the most hated heel in wrestling history? They can be from any time period, Any company, it just has to be a heel.

Without a doubt what my pick would be Sgt Slaughter. In 1991(i think) He turned on the U.S and became a traiter to Iraq. He destroyed the mega babyface Hulk Hogan on many occasions and burned his merchandise aswell as saluting Iraq infront of pissed off fans. It got so bad at one point he actually started recieving death threats.

He is without a doubt the most hated wrestler I can think of.

I completely agree with you that Slaughter was one of the most hated heels in wrestling. Along side him was Iron Sheik who was also one of the most hated heels back in the 90's.

I also remember hearing them get death threats becuase they pissed so many people off.

And another heel that I remember that got a lot of heat was Muhammad Hassan. He got a ton of heat and my most memorable moment about him is gettign eliminated by 7 or 8 guys in a royal rumble.

the obvious answer is "The Great Muhammed Hassan", hey, im from Middle Eastern descent, and I was really into the guy, he was just so entertaining to watch, and the heat he generates was awesome, but the whole terrorist angle ruined him, and well.. he just recently started to break his silence about it all, the sad thing is that he wasn't even Arab American.

but if there's someone who gets a little more if not the same heel heat that he got, its Vickie Guerrero, shes the best heel of today, even the vintage tool cant top her.

If we're talking about sheer "quantity of boos and jeering" then I agree you'd have to look at either WWF/E or WCW to find a suitable answer to the question of "Who's the most hated heel?"

Based on sheer loathing alone, I think the most hated heels were the Dudley Boyz in the original ECW. Though some of this translated to the audience at home, if you ever had the unique pleasure of being in the crowd for a live event with the Dudleys on the card, you'd have seen just how despised these guys were.

The fans absolutely HATED them. I remember seeing folks trying to jump the barricade to get at BuhBuh Ray and Devon after being challenged to a fist fight right then and there. I remember BuhBuh literally getting in a fans face to jaw-jack, only to get spit in his face, then to be held back by security while "Damage Inc." restrained said fan. I remember two kids in the audience who dressed as the Dudley's for a live show, then proceeded to get unanimously cursed at every time they stood up to do anything. Of course, there were the 10-20 minute diatribes that BuhBuh went on consisting of increasingly sickening and creative ways of labelling the most jeering of fans mothers as prostitutes. Usually resulting in said fan either giving up or becoming so unruly he was escorted out by security.

In my 20+ years of watching professional wrestling, I've NEVER seen someone get that kind of a reaction from the fans. There was legitimate hate there every time the Dudleys came out, and they were masters at inciting people and snowballing that anger to near riot proportions.

I agree with the original post that Sgt Slaughter during when the Iraq spy storyline was going on would be one of the most hated ever, the poor man was receiving legit death threats from fans. As far as anyone else is concerned, I'd have to say that Vickie Guerrero is coming close to reaching the top of the hated heels list because she gets boo'ed out of the building if she as much as says one word. Now that's heel heat. Granted most of it is "go away" heat, but fans legitimately hate her and she's a heel. Sounds like one of the most hated heels if you ask me.

I have two Sargent Slaughter for the 1st one because of the whole Anti American gimmick, and my second most hated heel pick The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase he played the part so well that everyone hated him and when he stuffed the 100 dollar bills in his opponent mouth then took it back out man that was classic heel heat or when he he '' bought '' the WWF Title Belt another classic heel heat moment.

It's hard to make a case for a wrestler I've never seen live, but I was told that Killer Kowalski inspired hatred that made Slaughter and Iron Sheik look like babyfaces in comparison, mostly because fans knew that those two were doing an act, whereas Kowalski appeared to be legitimately vicious.

In an era in which many top wrestlers had huge abdomens, Kowalski was lean and mean. I was told that in real life, he was quiet and a loner, and he extended this persona to the ring, making him come off as a man who truly didn't care about who he hurt. In reality, I doubt this was so, but my Dad told me he remembered people throwing things at Kowalski as he made his way to the ring and shouting obscenities that were offensive and disgusting.

Apparently, Kowalski also (accidentally) ripped off part of an opponent's ear......long before it happened to Mick Foley.

Now, that's a heel!

You know, an argument could be made for Triple H circa 2002-04. He might not have garnered as much hate as a man who sympathized with the country we were at war with but as far as the IWC goes, he was the worst person in the world. The dude was hated almost universally to the point where ratings actually dipped for a while.

Not necessarily saying he was the most hated heel of all time, but he should probably be in the discussion.

One of the most recently hated heels was definatly JBL during his 10 month long title reign in 2005. Everyone used to watch the smackdown ppv's just to see him lose the title but he always found a way to stay champion. A perfect example of this is the barbed wire steel cage match he had against big show at no way out, i remember throwing my remote at the tv in disgust at the manner in how JBL managed to fluke his way through another title match.:banghead:

It was definatly one of the most memorable title reigns of recent times and the longest wwe title reign in the past 20 years.

There have been a lot of great heels over the years. When I first started watching wrestling back in the mid 80's, the guy people loved to hate was Roddy Piper. Hulk Hogan had a tremendous "Rogue's Gallery" of heels to go against, but Piper was his greatest adversary, with Randy Savage as a close second.

The only other guy in wrestling who could keep up with Piper on the mic at that time was Jim Cornette. Check out some of Jim Cornette's shoot interviews where he talks about the lengths many fans went through to lay their hands on "The Louisville Lip". One in particular was one where he and the Midnight Express were heading to their car after a show and a group of fans tried to jump them - and the Rock & Roll Express came to their aid to fight off the mob.

Sgt. Slaughter during his Iraqi sympathizer era got tremendous heat, largely because he had spent the last 7 years being built up as an American hero (I remember seeing Sarge at an indy show in 1986 and him leading everyone in the Pledge Of Allegiance), and when the country is in a war, he sides with the opposition.

In the 90's, Hulk Hogan moved to WCW and wore out his welcome fairly quickly - until he turned against the fans and became Hollywood Hogan. The heat he (and the NWO) generated helped WCW win the Monday Night Wars for a while.

In the new millennium, HHH has been THE guy to hate. He may have been a heel before, but when he married Stephanie and the McMahon-Helmsley Era began, he took on a new level of hatred. People couldn't stand him to the point that he is often credited as the reason the Raw ratings began to decline around 2003. He can work face and gets a lot of respect from the fans as he really is a total package (great look, wrestling ability and mic skills), but he did his best work as a despised villain.

Is this even a question. I has to be VINCE RUSSO! He is by far the biggest heel ever because not only do people kayfabe hate his on screen character, But people legit hate him with a passion because of his booking. Plus he's the only person i've ever heard a "FIRE RUSSO" chant for when he isn't even in a match (or even a on screen character for fucks sake!)

How has nobody mentioned Mr. McMahon yet? The guy who spent a year and a half throwing everything at Stone Cold Steve Austin, hiring every single person possible to take the title away from him and keep him down.

Austin would never have become as popular as he did without Mr. McMahon for the fans to hate.

Edge from 2005-2008 deserves a mention.

His affair with Lita got Matt Hardy fired and propelled him into the role of Raw's top heel. Sleeping with Lita was probably the best move of his career, and a lot of people hated that in the same way that HHH's marriage to Stephanie McMahon helped his career. Throw in all the vile acts from smacking around Cena's father, to the Live Sex celebration, to pairing with the human heat magnet Vickie Guerrero; and I think he belongs in the conversation.

Got to say the sheik he had people trying to stab him all the time going to the ring and coming bacc from it yell

I made a video and song of who I consider one of the greatest heels of all time that is in line with some of your guys' suggestions. I posted it on here, but some moderator deleted my post and warned me for spamming. B.S. I'm just joining in the conversation and sharing my wrestling love with everyone else. If you're interested in watching this video that nearly got me banned, go to youtube and type in "Sgt. Slaughter Metal Video". Please, don't boot me; I'm just an average guy having fun, not trying to make a dollar, spread a business, or make a name.

If you check it out and enjoy it, please comment and let me know your thoughts. I'm working on more of these, so if you like them, give me some ideas.

The Freebirds in WCCW seemed pretty hated. I wasn't alive at the time, but from clips I've seen, and what my family tells me (we are from Dallas) they had alot of heat.

I would have to say Hollywood Hogan. Yeah the n.w.o had a lot of fans but the guy was the pretty hated. He got booed like crazy every night and the fans were always throwing trash in the ring at him. His year long title run from Aug of 1996 to Aug 1997, really grew the frustrations of the fans, boiling up the point sheer glee when Luger finally beat him on Nitro. Seriously go back and watch that match, the reaction to Luger winning was bigger than probably any title win I have seen since and maybe before it.

HHH fo sure. When i first got into watching westling near the start of the attitude era one man stood out to me... Triple H. I fucking hated him buh now he's my favourite wrestler of all time (funny that isn't it), i hated him so much that i wanted him to die. I especially hated him during the Mcmahon-Helmsley Era because of the way he always used to get one over on the Rock all the time (my favourite wrestler at the time), him cheating to win and him at times being a coward which used to piss me off even more. Without a doubt HHH is the best heel of all time.

I would have to also mention Randy Orton too during his fued with HHH leading up to Wrestlemania 25 and after mania. The pain and suffering he caused Trips and the Mcmahons (Punting vince and shane to the head, rko-ing Steph and kissing her while Trips watched and finally punting HHH and winning the WWE title from him) I fu#*ing hated Orton during this time.

Obviously I need to mention Sgt. Slaughter during his alliance with Iron Sheik, and Iron Sheik. Also Vicki Guerrerro is definitly deserving to be mentioned, when I went to Elimination Chamber this year the booing was so loud I didnt hear one word she said.

With that being said i'm going to go with one that hasnt been mentioned yet, Michael Cole. Yes he's only really become a major pain in the ass recently, I cant recall anyone being hated so fiercly. I have even felt like kicking his ass to a bloody pulp and normally I dont let heels get to me but rather respect the role they're playing. His role is not only annoying but it is getting old and I really hope it comes to an end soon. But most hated of all time does go to Sgt. Slaughter with Sheik coming in a close second, because the only thing people hate more than an enemy is a traitor.

I agree with Baximus. Mr. McMahon is THE heel, he has done so many despicable things throughout his time as chairman that it pales in comparison to just about every other superstar to call themselves "bad", including:

-Challenging (and beating) God in a tag team match.
-The Incident in Montreal.
-Carry on a love affair with Sable in front of his real wife.
-Countless heel mannerisms regarding SCSA
-Forcing his own daughter to "quit" her job in a Father vs. Daughter Match
-And so many, many more

Vince's heel record extends far beyond that of anyone else's because he is in charge of every goddamn thing. Even his walk down the ramp, that strutting swag, is pure ego. You can't hold a candle to The Boss. There's no chance in hell.

Hassan hands down. Probably the only guy that noone liked, even from the perspective that people like heels based on their wrestling or promos. A genius gimmick to garner heat from pretty much everyone in America. Too bad they took it the wrong way with the terrrist angle...

Larry Zbyszko this guy was a heat magnet in his day he did everything from attacking Bruno Sammartino to paying Killer Tim Brooks to beat Paul Orndorff for the national heavyweight championship and give it to him if there were a heels hall of fame he would be in it.
