Most anticipated of 2009

Lee

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Supermod!
This thread was inspired by an article I read somewhere else. It's not a cut and paste job, it's what I think the baest games coming out this year seem to be...so here we go the most anticipated games of 2009 (The months are the UK releases!)

February

Whilst people shall be raving about the sims 3...there's only one sequel anyone should look forward to in February of 2009.

Can I get a Hadouken for STREET FIGHTER IV! It's street fighter II imagined for a "new generation" and is looking pretty darn sweet!

March

Sam would kill me if I didn't put Resident Evil 5 here. So I will...resident Evil 5 is the game for March. Will it live up to the hype? IT'S RESIDENT EVIL! OF COURSE IT WILL!!

April

Madworld for the Wii, is looking a rather good game. You're a mechanic with an arm-mounted chainsaw! Here's a screen shot;

May

Is a game called Conduit, another Wii game. It's a first person shooter a first-person sci-fi shooter, set in a near-future alien invasion. With online multiplayer, this should be a good assett for the Wii...or bomb spectacularly.

June

Ah summer is on us, that's when video games slump for a bit as people like to go out and play football and frisbee, butsurely there must be a good game coming out in the summer...surely! Maybe I should call someone...but who am I gunna call?!

FUCKING GHOSTBUSTERS!!! It's a sequel to Ghostbusters 2 with all the original actors voices, it has been delayed by six months, and its cross platform. It's looking incredibly good, I am so excited for this game I may just wet myself!

TBC's

After June it's generally To Be Confirmed dates...

So there are three I'm looking forward to, but with them not having a release date yet I won't go too much into it. There's Tekken 6, coinciding with the Tekken movie. Final Fantasy 13 which has really took its time, and lastly God Of War 3.

Feel free to discuss any of the games scheduled for release this year in this thread, which you think will be ace, which you think will suck balls. If you're going to discuss God of War 3, there is a thread on that kindly done by Monkey...so post in there :)

Assassin's Creed 2
I'm told there's a trailer to this somewhere. I can't find it for shit. GamesTM says it's coming out this year though, and I believe them. Hopefully, Ubisoft have taken the criticism of the last game and crafted something better. Maybe a new setting, a lot more variation and a new combat system - that would make the game incredible. As long as they don't touch the free running element; never has running been more fun in a videogame.

Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams
I hear that it's actually set in a desert. May as well rename the first one Bioshock: Desert of Hope to complete the absolute mind fuck. Judging from the teaser trailer, it's set several years after the first and there's some sort of sand theme going on. May well be a mindless cash in on the first, which remains one of my favourite games of all time. Finger crossed that it won't be.

Resident Evil 5
Well, obviously. My only concern is that the AI of your partner (Alisha? Atari? Some sort of "ethnic" name, I'm sure) may be shit. The most infuriating parts of Resi 4 came when protecting Ashley ("Leon!"). If the computer can't hold their own, what do I give a shit? Otherwise, looks incredible.

I'd also say God of War III, but I don't know if it actually will be released this year. Reason to get a PS3 if there ever was one.

Assorted FPS's
Yes, Bioshock is too good to be grouped in with the rest of the riff raff, why? There's id's new game - the name of which currently escapes me. Killzone 2, which looks fucking insanely good, if a bit "brown". And, of course, Aliens: Colonial Marines, which spans the settings of the good (i.e. first three) Alien movies. Should be damn good,

Legends of Wrestlemania - In all honesty, this game will probably be a complete letdown. It probably will be worse than Smackdown vs. Raw, have less features, and have half the effort put into it. But still....playing as all the heroes that I grew up with on a Playstation 3. That will be fun.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - So, I'm playing World at War right now...and for some reasons, I just don't really like it. I'm not sure why yet, but it just hasn't grown on me. But, Modern Warfare..that was just incredible. For World at War, Treyarch was the developer, but Modern Warfare 2 will bring back Infinity Ward. Based upon the name and developer alone, I can't wait.

MLB Front Office - OK, I'm not really highly anticipating this, but I am very curious to see how it rates. While I generally find that games like this are TOO detailed for my liking, one of my all-time favorite games was the High Heat franchise of baseball games, where you developed players, had minor leagues, etc. So, I'm holding out hope that this game might hearken back to those days.

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires - I might be the only person left these days, but I still LOVE the Dynasty Warriors franchise. And with DW 6 still being $60 most places, I figure if I want the DW experience, I might as well go with the Empires version. Hopefully, the graphics will be improved some, and the Empires mode will be more exciting than past ones.

TNA Impact 2 - Just to see if the game is any better received.

Mafia 2 - Don't know anything about it...but the first Mafia on the computer was very good.

And since I'm already anxious for this next game, I'm going to go ahead and say anyways, even though it won't be released until at least 2010.

The next Elder Scrolls game. I have no idea what it will be called, or what it will feature, but I'm excited for it just the same.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: I absolutely can't wait for this game. World at War just kinda left me wanting more. The story wasnt all that great, and i felt kinda lost through the whole game. The original Modern Warfare had fantastic gameplay, and a fantastic story. Absolutely can't wait for this game.

Killzone 2: How long has it been, 4 years since the first trailer was unveiled, and after many delays its finally coming. I've read some articles and everything, looks like it could be a fantastic game. I really enjoyed the first one. I saw some gameplay on G4 and it looked incredible. Graphics looked amazing, as did the gameplay. I never really understood why the first Killzone got a bad rep.

Prototype: I haven't really seen anyone even talk about this game. You take on a character who is a shapeshifter. Basically he can take on the shape of anything such as another human being, animal, ive even read that you can take the shape of cars and light poles, etc. The premise sounds really interesting to me. Of course like many games it has been delayed over and over, last i heard it was in April, but it might set back all the way til June.

Those are mainly the ones i can of off the top of my head. Other games im looking foward to are Heavy Rain, I Am Alive, and two that im not sure will come out in 2009 but im hoping will are God of War 3 and Assassins Creed 2.

Well I look at there being two full games and one expansion for me to get excited over this year.

Dawn of War II This game looks good, and if they have improved on Dawn of War then they have done a good job, the graphics for it look good, and the playability looks good, and you get to play as the Tyranids, so pretty much the game looks like it is going to be pretty damned good.

Starcraft II This is slated for starting to come out this year. and I do mean starting since it is now split into three separate games, I would imagine that each game is going to be split between Terrans, Zerg and Protoss but you never know.

Red Alert 3: Uprising This is the expansion that I am looking forward to in March, the expansion to Red Alert 3 which I enjoyed myself, though a friend of mine didn't. It even has The Nature boy in it. I am looking forward to playing some of the new units that the Empire of the rising sun are going to have.

BlazBlue
I am a fighting game arcade junkie. I spend a few good hours of my week at the arcade playing BlazBlue. Seeing as how the only arcade in New York with a BlazBlue machine isn't exactly close to me, i highly anticipate this release fall of this year.

Street Fighter 4
Yet another game i blow hours away at the arcade playing. Pretty much the same reasons as Blaz Blue why i anticipate this game so much. Those reasons and the fact that I am a huge SF fan.

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires
The first 5 and spin offs weren't enough for me. Even though nothing really changes each game except characters, i still enjoy the DW series.

Resident Evil 5
While i am not crazy about the new gameplay system introduced in RE4 and 5. I am still a loyal fan to the series. Besides i have to find out what happened to the love of my life Jill!

Star Ocean 4
Yet another series i am highly loyal to. While i should boycott it for being released on the 360 and not PS3(Fuck you Square). I just can't live with myself if i didn't buy it.

White Knight Chronicles
Aside from the fact that i have enjoyed most Level-5 games to date, i will buy almost any JRPG.

Final Fantasy XIII
After reading my list so far you all must be shocked to see this. Not looking forward to 13 itself so much as i am looking forward to the PS3 exclusive FFVersusXIII, but i look forward to XIII nonetheless since it has a female lead.

Madden NFL 2010 I wanna just see if it will be as good as or better than Madden 09 cause Madden 09 was really the best Madden game I have played in a long time.

TNA Impact 2 I'm hoping that they improved this game by alot & make it a bit less difficult to use the finishing move & complete the story mode. I won't rant about what features the game should have.

Street Fighter 4 God it's been forever since I have played a Street Fighter game. I wanna know how it will do on the new-gen consoles.

Legends Of Wrestlemania I'm mainly into how bad this game really is & to make matches I imagined in my head.

Splinter Cell Conviction
This is a game I've been waiting for for a long time.
I've seen some videos of it and it just looks fantastic.
From what I've seen you have to hide from basicly the entire city.
You still get a ton of the original gear you get from the games before,
But now, you can use them on anybody.
You can interrogate anybody, use anybody as a human shield.
And you now also get a cover style of shooting, which is something I felt the previous games were always lacking in.
Basicly you can do what ever you could do before, except now in a GTA esque world.

Half-Life 2 Episode 3:
I know that this will probably not come out this year, considering that no videos or screenshots have gotten out to the public,
But this is something I can't wait for.
These are most fun games I have ever played, the story and characters are
the best ever. The controlls are perfect in every way, the driving parts are awesome. It's the most open world you can get without it being a sandbox game. The gravity gun is the greatest gaming weapon ever, flinging a toilet at an enemy from 100 yards and hitting them right in the face is the most satisfying experience you can have.
All in all, Best Game Ever. Can't wait for the next one!

KillZone 2 - I have a PS3 and I got the demo (Set up a EU PSN account). Game looks fantastic. But before that game...

Star Ocean 4 - Been looking forward to this one for awhile. Unless reviews come back really sour, I do look to be playing this game by month's end. :)

My biggie isn't even coming this year, but Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy versus XIII. Sad that I can't get it sooner. :(

Resident Evil 5 - Come on, its Resident Evil. It's bound to be epic! If it matches the level of awesomeness shown in Resi 4 than I'll be 100% happy.

Formula 1 2009 - Being a die-hard Formula 1 fan and not having a new F1 game for 3 years, this is a very exciting game for me.

Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2 - A sequel to my favourite FPS off all time... bring it on!

Well being the big gaming freak I am heres my most anticipated of '09:

1. Killzone 2:
From the graphics to the gameplay to the action. The demo really surprised me as I thought it was just overhyped Shit, which the demo clearly proves it ain't.

2. Halo Wars
Another one that really surprised me. I downloaded the demo and before playing thought that it probably won't be that good and actually its excellent. Shows that RTS games really can be done on consoles.

3. Uncharted 2: Among thieves
Really loved the first one and Nathans back.... with a MUSCHTACHE. Really can't wait for this one. Sad thing is apart from a handful of screenshots we don't really have anything much more.

4. God of War III (If it releases this year)
Really cannot say much apart from: GOD OF WAR DAMNIT! This is gonna be worth all the wait.

Overall it looks to be a blockbuster year for the PS3. The 360 however will have to pull out some surprises to fight back in terms of games.

Halo 3 ODST anyone?

One game I reckon will go under the rader but dosen't deserve to will be Batman: Arkham Asylum. After reading several articles on the game, it appears that this will truly be the dark horse of 2009.

Forza 3 and PGR5 are suppose to coming out this year as well. So its not all doom and gloom for the 360 this year.

I will admit though that God of War 3 will be the best thing the PS3 may ever see.

Right now, apart from the already mention Resident Evil 5, the 2 games I can't wait for are The Old Republic and THe Conduit

The Old Republic is an MMO based on the awesome Knights of the Old Republic series and really, I just know it's gonna be amazing. The only let down will be fucking 13 years olds called "dARtHjOhnLOlzz" running around asking "H3y n006, hws I gEt a lIfeSAveR so I cn p00n the 6aDDies"

The Conduit is a frankly gorgeous looking game for the Wii which, along with Madworld, is trying to appeal to the older market.
The developers are talking about making this the "Halo of the Wii" which sounds moth watering, especially seeing how well FPS's can be done on the Wii thanks to Metroid. And it has 16 player online play... I just hope it's done properly

Star Ocean: The Lost Hope: It's out now, and it is a sequel to my favorite game ever. I have not gotten around to getting it yet, but I cannot wait until I do.

Legends of Wrestlemania: Shall be a bad game i'm sure, but it does not stop me from looking forward to it.

Really those are the two games i'm looking forward to now. Lost Hope is far ahead of Wrestlemania though.

Man, the only game that I'm really looking forward to this year and the game I will most certainly purchase is Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

COD4 was great, I borrowed it off a friend but didn't buy it because I'm a tightass and spent my money on other things. Plus it's still $100 rrp here in Australia. I heard World at War as shit, but reviewers say it was good. I was about to buy it, but Gears of War 2 caught my eye instead. But I will be buying this game, because I need a decent shooter game that I can play online without lags and people leaving before the fucking match even starts! Stupid players on Gears of War are too annoying to play with. It's almost unbearable when 7 people out of 10 leave within the first 3 minutes of a game.

Apart from that though, I really can't think of a game on Xbox 360 that I really want this year. For the first time in 4 years, I really don't know whether I'll buy Smackdown vs Raw or not. SD vs Raw 2009 was too shit, too easy and didn't have replay value at all. If GM mode returns, I may change my mind but for some reason I seriously doubt that it's returning.

TNA iMPACT doesn't interest me because I heard last years was absolute shit, and I believe that. I may buy Fifa 2010 if SD vs Raw isn't worth getting, only because I need a sport game on my Xbox, and soccer is the only sport that produces good video games. I'm not American, so I don't like or watch Hockey, NFL or any other of those sports that are talked about on a daily basis in the Bar Room ;)

Not to mention I'm most likely buying my first car this year, so I can't see myself even paying much attention or money towards video games.

These are the most anticipated to me.

UFC 2009 Undisputed- Been waiting for a game from them forever.

Legends of Wrestlemania- If you are a wrestling fan and don't want this, you have a problem. May end up being a let, as previously stated, but man I want it.

Fight Night Round 4
- I am a huge sports fan, can't wait for this one. Love boxing.
