Ok ladies and gentlemen it time for one of the most talked about topics in gaming history....Which do you think is the better game? Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter?

Name you Winner and tell why you think they'll win

IMO I think Mortal Kombat would take this hands down their movesets were just brutal and the storyline was something that kept me intrested. Add in all the Blood and Fattlities and you got all the makings for a classic game for a hardcore fan of action. Street Fighter was cool but mortal kombat just had something that stood out to me. I never got bored playing it

So what are you opinions Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat?

This thread sounds like it belongs in the technology and game section, and street fighter is better.

I have placed this in the correct games room...

DO NOT INFRACT, THE THREAD HAS BEEN MOVED FROM THE GAMES ROOM TO TECHNOLOGY & GAMES AND THUS MARQUIS IS NOT SPAMMING.

Mortal Kombat...In a landslide.

The story that started as a simple tournament in the original MK, has turned into a wildly woven story, incorporating over 60 different characters, all with their own movesets, own weapons, and own backstory. There's no plotholes, and the games all help to support each other. The multi-player game is far superior. You can play for hours, and almost never have the same fight twice. The fatalities are an original concept, and exist in every game in the franchise, except for Armageddon.

Street Fighter was fun to play, but it got old very fast. Except for Zangief or Chun Li, I never had fun playing with any of the characters, and thought the moves were fairly bland. The graphics aren't nearly as smooth as the MK franchise either.

I like my video games violent and bloody, so Mortal Kombat, for me, wins this hands down. Although I will admit that Street Fighter 2 had interesting characters, they weren't nearly as cool as the ones in the Mortal Kombat series. Furthermore, Street Fighter 2 could have done with some Fatalities.

I'm assuming you mean the series as a whole and not the individual titles listed. Because Street Fighter 1 was total crap and hardly anyone even remembers it. Street Fighter II is really the proper beginning of the series.

Anyways, if we talking about the series as a whole, Street Fighter is much better. Mortal Kombat is enjoyable and all, but Street Fighter games generally have much more depth, more responsive controls, better balance of characters. Sure, Mortal Kombat has the violence and the cool characters to please the casual fans (not that there's anything wrong with that) but hardcore fighting game fans know that SF is where it is at.

That being said, I have a Street Fighter II arcade cabinet in my living room so I am little bit biased.

I'm going with Street Fighter. Mortal Kombat is cooler as far as having blood and guts goes but they need that in order to beat Street Fighter. Furthermore why would Mortal Kombat need the DC Universe to make a new game??? Street Fighter 4 is much better than MK vs DC.

Surely...no way is that RYU of street fighter fame against SPIDER-MAN of Marvel fame? The same reason MK needs DC for its latest game is the same reason Street Fighter needed Marvel for their games. So before you go on a rant about that, do some research, please.

Street Fighter hands down. Personally, it was the better and much more iconic fighting game. Better control scheme, button layout, special move execution, combo/chain system, character design/balance etc. MK was just over the top violence using realistic looking sprites, and it didn't really take much skill to beat. I remember learning Scorpions two or three moves and spamming my way to Goro, and beating him the first time out, whereas it took me many a quarter to finally beat M. Bison aka Vega for the non English players.

street fighter all the way. better characters, not such unrealistic violence as mortal kombat. all in all, i enjoyed playing street fighter more. i also liked the film, kinda funny :D
