Morrison Face or heel?

Pre-Show Stalwart
How is everyone feeling about Morrison's face turn? do you like him better as face or heel. I honestly liked him better as heel, with that cocky scowl and attitude. This new Morrison is just kinda goofy and just smiling and acting all respectful is kinda weird. I don't know if its because the face turn wasn't gradual, it was just that he switched shows and boom i'm a nice humble face. I used to be big on Morrison and thought he was next in line for a big push. Maybe im just a natural heel fan but when I saw him in the one segment where he was goofing with Teddy Long about Michael Jackson songs and Long told him to beat it out of his office and Morrison was just all smiling about it i was like wtf. Ever since that segment I'm not even interested in a Morrison push at all, anyone share the same thoughts? disagree?

I liked him better as a heel and I believe he is better at playing the heel, but he is still insanely over as a face and does pull it off in a very credible way. So while I loved him as a heel, I feel his is just fine as a face and in fact he needs to remain that way with the loss of Rey now to a supension and with Hardy leaving. That two major faces gone, granted Taker is back, but still Morrison needs to remain a face as of now. Especially if he is going to be making a run for the IC Title now, since Taker is going to be feuding with Punk. Morrison will likely go after Ziggler who I believe will take the title off of Rey on friday. So he'll need to be a face for that. So for now he is gonna remain a face and he will do it well, but eventually I would like to see him slowly take a heel turn that is built up over a few months, I think that would be awesome.

As a heel he was part of a tag team that was opening ECW and couldn't got on the card at Wrestlemania. As a face he is main eventing Smackdown, teaming up with one of the most popular tag teams of all time and is currently the second top babyface on Smackdown. I think it's pretty safe to say his face run is currently better.

His in ring skills are suited to a babyface. To get over with the modern day live crowd as a babyface you need flashy moves, heels are more ground and pound type of wrestlers. Morrison definitely falls into the first category. Jeff was over because of his flashy moves, as was Rey, as are Kofi Kingston and to a lesser extent Evan Bourne. Morrison is getting over due to the "flashyness".

As for the fact he isn't cocky anymore, modern babyfaces aren't meant to be cocky. They are meant to be respectful and good role models. parents don't want their kids to grow up as cocky ********s, there are too many around as it is. He is much better off as a babyface, it is how he is best suited.

i agree he makes a better heel nd yea it was stupid that just caused he switched brands he became a face. he should of feuded with mysterio and battle for the i.c. tittle and out of respect turn face and move on to other chanllengers

Morrison as a face is a bit like MVP to me, i.e. a guy who trys really hard in the role but no matter how hard he tries it just doesn't come off as naturally as when he was a heel. However, as much as I might have preferred JoMo as a heel, in reality it was time for a change and that finally came via a gradual face turn (and now that it has happened, Morrison is arguably receiving the biggest push of his career...would he have gotton this as a heel?) Nonetheless, despite all that I think the John Morrison 'character' has attributes more typical of the heel such as the frat boy personna, the chiselled body, the cocky swagger and what not, but hey credit to the guy for having the determination to make his face turn work....it might not be as natural as his heel incarnation but with more time he can probably pull off what he is doing currently.

With Mysterio being suspended he will probably work with ziggler for teh IC belt.....he's the new babyface a la Stone Cold who might cheat or use a shortcut against a heel opponent..But he makes a way better heel...like Jherico

LOL.

The preferences of smarks is to naturally like Heels better, anyway. I bet there are only a small handful of people today in the WWE who people can honestly say that they prefer as a Face.

Triple H was better as a Heel.
Cena was better as a Heel in the Rap gimmick.
Randy Orton is best as a Heel.

With that being said, I prefer Morrison as a Face. It takes real talent for someone who can pull off both a successful Face as well as a Heel. And I believe Morrison is doing a great job as a Face.

We've seen way too many cocky, egotistical characters. I think a Face Rock Star character is absolutely perfect right now for WWE. Damn, there are so few actual characters anymore as it is anyway. Much less characters who are actually Faces.

Morrison as a face is like Austin or The Rock as a face (although not w/ the same charisma, and not even close in terms of impact on the WWE in the grand scope of things, so don't go nuts on that). Morrison is the egotistical face who is completely self-involved, but gets cheered for it. The slow motion entrance, the wind blowing, the posing....all of it says heel and everyone is cheering for him. He is over because of his in-ring abilities, not his allegiance to the crowd. His self-involvement probably leads him back to heel status, but currently, with the lack of faces on Smackdown & w/ Hardy and Mysterio now gone, Morrison fits the role perfectly and should continue to absorb the cheers. He doesn't seem to care that he is being cheered....he poses and behaves the same way he did as a heel.

I say Morrison is the next big thing in WWE with Jeff Hardy out of his way, and he had fantastic feuds with CM Punk on ECW, so the future of the Main Event Scene on Smackdown looks very promising.

It was kinda weird that he all of a sudden just turned face out of nowhere, but he's doing a really good job and running with it. He has the face look, but his overall gimmick is def for a heel. Although I enjoyed the cocky s.o.b, he's more suited for as a face and his goal to become champion looks like the face route anyway so it's working for him for sure. Morrison as a face over heel def.

LOL@ Morrison being insanely over.

Primo gets more chants than Morrison.
NEW comer YOSHI gets more chants than Morrison.
Santino gets more chants than Morrison.

Morrison is not really over. His fans pretend he is.When has he ever got
a big entrance pop like Jeff or Rey? Why has he gotten a world title
shot before a way more over R-Truth?

They tagged him with CM Punk. They tagged him with Cryme Tyme. They just recently tagged him with Matt&Jeff.

They made him go over CM Punk twice.

They had him appear on every brand w/MIZ some times too when he was
on ECW.

But he's still not very over.

Miz drew most of the heat when he tagged with Morrison too.

And right now Miz is more over as a heel than Morrison is as a face.

LOL.

The preferences of smarks is to naturally like Heels better, anyway. I bet there are only a small handful of people today in the WWE who people can honestly say that they prefer as a Face.

Triple H was better as a Heel.

Randy Orton is best as a Heel.

Exactly.

If some people online had their way, every wrestler would be heel except Rey&Jeff.

He's obviously having a better run as a face, considering he's main eventing more and more. I prefer his face persona as well, his attempts at the "poetic" cryptic jim morrison type of promo was just stupid. He seems to be more comfortable in his role now as well.

I liked him better as a heel. He was arrogant and self-centered. As a face, he is a completly different person. I also don't like the fact that on ECW he was a heel, and after going to SmackDown via the draft, he was a face. He should have done something to become a face, not just show up on SmackDown and have people asking themselves, "Is he a face now?" He didn't turn face on RAW after Miz turned on him, because the next night on ECW he pinned Evan Bourne to prove that he can still win on a singles level. Then he shows up on SmackDown as a face-what? I think it was a last-minute decision to make him a face, because on his first night on SmackDown there was scheduled to be a scramble match between Morrison, Kane, Mysterio, Jeff, and Punk to determine the #1 contender for the World Title. But that was changed to a fatal 4 way, where Morrison was dropped, and faced Benjamin in a 1 on 1 match.
