Miz Needs A Bodyguard. Who Other Than Sid?

First of all, where's all this percieved weakness and lack of credibility when it comes to The Miz come from?

I don't know what this near obssession that internet smarks seem to have for all wrestlers to be heels and for all heels to be these unbeatable badasses. It's not the least bit fucking realistic. The Miz is about 6 feet tall and weighs probably about 220 pounds legitimately. Comparatively speaking, he's a pretty good sized guy when you put him against your average guy. However, Miz doesn't have the look, the size, the strength, the physical presence, etc. to be this human juggernaut heel that runs rampant over anyone that gets in his face. Honestly people, everybody can't be the super cool anti-hero badass type of character that the IWC loves.

A bodyguard for Miz isn't a bad idea in my view as it will only reinforce the idea that Miz is an arrogant heel with a bodyguard to not only watch his back but to keep the riff raff away from him. And why wouldn't a main eventer need a bodyguard? Ted DiBiase had a bodyguard to help him win his matches. And what about JJ Dillon? While he wasn't a bodyguard, he was a manager that helped the Four Horsemen win countless times, including Ric Flair. None of these guys looked "weak" because they had someone "help" them, they looked like cheating lowlifes willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead. That, in and of itself, is basically the definition of a heel.

But Sid? Nah, not a chance. Sid's 50 years old, he's half crazy, has a horrible reputation and he's just not worth the effort. This would be the idea role for someone like Mason Ryan. Let's face it, Mason Ryan isn't nearly ready to be turned out on his own and given a push. He's far too green. This would give him television time, it would keep him part of a relevant goings on and would put him with one of the most over heels working right now.

The Miz is beyond having a bodyguard, the guy doesn't even need one. I think it would be refreshing to see The Miz in the title picture without the help of someone like Riley to win matches.

If Vince wants to make The Miz a household name, and make him one of the top guys in the WWE in the future, you can't have him Paired up with somebody at all in this part of his career. He is having a very good feud with Riley at the moment, a very believable one at that.

He will put Riley over, then i believe he will be in the title picture soon if Cena is indeed taking time off soon. Who knows, he might even turn face soon, but thats for another disscussion. And even if he did need a bodyguard, why would you bring back a guy from the past?, especially someone like Sid who is not even that good or intimidating. He would be a bit of a laughing stock if he still needed someone to help him fight his battles, especially if it was someone like Sid helping him.

Yeah, I don't think a bodyguard or anything like that is necessary for Miz. It's time to let the guy be on his own, after he's spent many points of his career with someone else (Morrison, Big Show, Riley). Main event heels don't generally have bodyguards in this day and age, because they're not needed and they really just take the focus off the guy in question.

Plus, when they do give someone a bodyguard, it often turns into a push for the bodyguard more so than the actual talent. Case in point: Brian Kendrick and Zeke, the latter of whom is getting a huge babyface push now and the former of whom was unceremoniously kicked to the curb. It was obvious that they always had bigger plans for Zeke from the minute he debuted, and so Kendrick never really got his shot as the cocky heel the way that he should have.

I enjoyed the storyline with Sid and HBK years ago, and I am a fan of the match these two had at the 1997 Royal Rumble. Sid was the big bully, who wanted to push around Jose Lothario and his son, and Shawn wanted payback, because Sid attacked his trainer/mentor at Survivor Series 1996. It was a nice storyline, and Sid played the perfect bad guy here.

If this were Sid from the 90's, then I probably wouldn't have a problem with this, but this wouldn't be Sid from the 90's. This is a man who is in his 50's, and I doubt Sid could create a nice nostalgia buzz. Sure, the older WWE fans would recognize him, but not everybody knows who this man is. A lot of fans might just see Sid as another big guy.

I could see The Miz having another lackey. Miz can be an obnoxious jerk, and I could see him pushing someone else around, but I don't think he needs a bodyguard at all. Mason Ryan really is the only guy on the Raw roster, who can fill this role. He's a big guy, he has an impressive physique, and he has shown signs of some fierce intensity, but he is not ready for a big push. Miz having another lackey probably wouldn't hurt him, but I think he has moved past this, and he really doesn't need to be attached to someone else.

Miz is fine by himself. He'll find his way back into the main event soon enough. It's probably going to take some time, but I'm sure Miz will return to the WWE Championship picture again.

I heard Mason Ryan might be used, but Miz doesn't need a body guard. he needs to be a coward and run away and cheat as his heel type. Miz is fine as he is.

The Jackhammer!!! He nails it again.

Exactly right, Miz doesn't have the physical presense to be a tough-talking dominant heel, he is the cocky smaller guy who likes people to do his dirty work for him, and there is nothing wrong with that. As Jackhammer said, the addition of a big bodyguard to protect Miz from the angry faces who want to beat his ass is a great idea, and it will establish the Miz as an even better heel if he continues to steal victories and gloat while the good guys can do nothing about it.

A few years ago I would have gone for Sid for the role, definitely. However, now I think he is probably too old and rusty for the spot. He may still be worth a look for a short term role though, depending on what shape he is in. Say he came in, it could be for a fairly short term deal, and eventually Miz fires Sid and he gets beaten up by Miz's NEW bodyguard..

Mason Ryan

Ryan looks the part, isn't ready to be on his own and as the New Nexus is ending soon, the time is perfect for Ryan to be recruited by The Miz, who can promise he will make him into a star as long as he does his job right. And that job is to help The Miz win matches and protect his back.

I think this would be a great way to keep Miz looking a title threat, give Mason more TV to improve and eventually break away from Miz on his own, like Diesel did from HBK all those years ago.

Gotta go with Naitch and Jack-Hammer on this one. I really don't see where all the talk about "main event" guys looking weak because they have bodyguards comes from. It has been standard fare for decades. Million Dollar Man as well as The Four Horseman have already been mentioned, as well as HKB with Sid; but don't forget Michaels and Diesel or HHH having Chyna. These are some of the biggest names and they have all had those types of people around them.

Nothing gets heat on a heel more than when they are cheating to win. The crowd hates them and wants nothing more than for the face to finally overcome the odds and beat them. Having the heels win clean just because they are better is, in my opinion, what helped lead to the whole "tweener" movement. You no longer had that "bad guy" that had no reedeeming qualities.
