Miss Tessmacher is the *NEW* Knockouts Champion

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
And it's about fuckin' time, too! For those who didn't catch the Pay-Per-View, Tess managed to pick up the victory off a quick roll-up in ring to win her first ever Knockouts Championship.

Say what you will about the state of the Knockouts division and or about Tess herself (or any of them as performers), but she'll undoubtedly bring a breathe of fresh air to what became an incredibly boring championship run with Gail Kim, who I've always found to be wildly overrated anyway.

Ultimately a great feel good moment, too, with her winning in her home state of Texas.

Thoughts?

Like I said in the LD, the best thing for the Knockouts Division was to get a new champion. Tess may not have been the better pick, but she certainly had a proper build. This is great, but I don't expect it to last to long.

Gail Kim is the most overrated female performer going today. I know some exaggerate the skills of Sara Del Ray, but here is the thing, despite the exaggerations she has a habit of putting on fantastic women's wrestling matches which prove people wrong. I can't remember a good match from Gail Kim in the last three years. She came back to TNA with this public agenda against the WWE, talked a lot of crap, said how she was misused and was better than they showed her to be and they gifted her the TNA Knockouts Championship.

She hasn't had a good title reign, she hasn't impressed anybody, she went stale months ago and the fact TNA have allowed the likes of Mickie James who people would much rather see slip into obscurity is a very poll decision. Run a pool, I got money people would rather watch the likes of Tara and Mickie James than Gail Kim.

As for "Miss Tessmacher"; we can't call her Brooke anymore, may confuse her with the other Brooke, she has been steadily improving since she joined and started actively competing as a Knockout. She isn't the best, but this is a girl who started out alongside Kelly Kelly and Layla, and in my own opinion as an in-ring performer is better than both, with ease. She has been pushed well towards the belt and its both nice to see her get it as well as Kim's horrible tenure end. Now, Gail, stay away. Thank you.

To me it's sad to see it end to someone who honestly really isn't even that good as a female wrestler. Gail is the best main stream female wrestler in the business today and I was happy to see her get the title run she deserved but I feel she was often misused in it. Mickie James, Victoria, Winter, Sarita, imo would of all been better people to build up to take the title from her, and from what I have seen all of them are far better talents than Tessmacher.

I know Gail had to lose it some time, and I'm not really sad it ended as I think it will freshen her up some now that she will be chasing, but they had so many better options to have take the belt from her and some far better options in terms of story line to create. This whole thing to me is just rather bleh, inspite of the build Tessmacher doesn't feel like a credable champion, she feels like Layla does to me I don't care about her build, don't care to see her run she's just there.

I am a HUGE fan of this and I do feel Miss Tessmacher was the best candidate to take the title away from Gail. Due to her recent involvement in the Hooters competition she was heavily promoted on TNA television, TNA website, and TNA social media outlets. She also managed to bring some publicity to TNA as well from the casual fan who saw her in the hooters competition and went "I want to see more of her. Let me check out this TNA thing she is a part of"

To those of you who are not satisfied with her being a technical wrestling specialist, I'm sorry to bust the proverbial bubble but the best television is NOT about the best technical wrestling. It's about characters we can invest in. Look no further than Gail Kim for this fact, as far as knockouts go, she is one of the best technical wrestlers on the knockout roster but the problem is the fans never invested in her. During her feud with Amazing Kong/Kharma, the fans invested in Kong, she just happened to be Kong's main opponent which elevated her own status.

Now can Tessmacher improve with regards to the "wrasslin" apsect? Absolutely. I think she has improved since her initial hiring and will likely continue to improve as she gets more time and more opponents under her belt. Keep in mind that at one point Trish Stratus, who some feel is the greatest female wrestler in history, was viewed as nothing more than eye candy but she improved her skills over time. Now I don't know if Tessmacher will become anywhere near the wrestler of Trish/Mickie/Lita/Madusa/etc but all we can do is give her time to shine.

as you said IDR its about frickin time gail dropped the belt! i like tessmacher i think shes improved a ton over the last 6 monthes and i hope she gets a decent run with the belt and they dont do to her what they did to gail kim i expect a rematch probably on open fight night or on impact i wouldnt mind seeing someone like sarita or rosita step up and fued with tessmacher sense neither has been KO champ before.

This a good thing since I feel like Mickie is turning heel pretty soon. (Just a gut feeling) Gail Kim is NOT over rated. She is a phenominal worker and her run as Knockouts champion since leaving WWE has been noteworthy. Thank you, Gail. However, I agree that it was time for a new face to win the title. Miss Tessmacher is a good choice. My personal favorite was Velvet Sky, but Tessmacher had a better build up. With this change, I hope that Sarita will get more of a push. She is an amazing talent and deserving of a championship run, as well!!!

1st thing Brooke was born in St. Louis, MO but resides in Texas so she's a Missourian. 2nd thing I'm glad she's getting a run as a prev post pointed out that she was the Final member of Xtreme Xpose to win gold. I think it kinda Ironic that Layla is the WWE Diva's Champ while Brooke is the TNA Knockouts Champ. Now let's see where this reign goes.

1st thing Brooke was born in St. Louis, MO but resides in Texas so she's a Missourian.

She was born elsewhere but Texas is her home state, similar to Chris Jericho and Canada. I think she put over Texas in her post-match speech (lol I forgot the whole thing.) She's billed from Houston. "Don't Mess With Tess" is obviously a play on words inspired by the infamous "Don't Mess With Texas" motto. Hell, her ring attire has the friggin' Lone Star on it.

Good move by TNA for putting the title on her. She may be somewhat rough to watch when it comes to her ring work, but she's improving. I honestly don't see her as the face of the Knockouts division, not anytime soon. If Mickie James turning heel soon is true, she'd be a great opponent to put Tessmacher over. If they already had a match then I must've missed it.

I actually agree with both of these statements. Gail Kim is obviously talented and she sometimes shows brief flashes of this in her recent work, but overall her lack of success has more to do with the company's half-hearted investment in her and the poor way they've booked her, rather than her lack of talent. She simply hasn't had any interesting feuds, character development, or well-built opponents to take her belt.

Tessmacher is okay at best. She's hot, but severely lacking with in-ring work and doesn't really have that "it" factor IMO. Not the worse choice for champion, there's some potential there and might as well try to capitalize on the recent Hooter's publicity I guess.

AND...
This a good thing since I feel like Mickie is turning heel pretty soon.(Just a gut feeling)

I agree, I felt like TNA threw out some pretty obvious hints/signs that Mickie James was going to turn heel soon last Impact with the jealous looks and hesitant group-hug. It's a good idea at this point in Mickie's career for a heel turn, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Velvet vs Mickie, and Tessmacher vs Mickie in the near future...

Texans have this thing about who's really from Texas. They treat it seriously, but it comes down to one person saying their connection to Texas is more solid than another, thus, they are a real Texan and the other person is not.

Which is all well and good, because it keeps people who think that they're real Texans down in Texas, so the rest of the country doesn't have to deal with them.

My only issue with Gail being champion was they gave her both Knockout championships within a month. In one month she beat Tess and Tara. Beat Velvet. Beat Mickie James and Velvet to defend the title. Those women are TNA's top female face talent. While Tess was away, Gail pretty much ran the gauntlet and beat the remaining three month, after month, after month. They only did one heel vs heel match in the whole thing, and that was the tease a potential Kim/Madison break up.

So my problem was she just came in fresh off being "victimized" by the WWE, wins all the belts, beats every relevant face in the Knockout Division. Her series with Mickie James (which happened too soon I might add) didn't impress me. Her match with Tara was ok. Lockdown was when I really turned against Velvet as an in ring performer, I wasn't under any false assumption Vel was great. That match was, ok, I can only use as a talking point you're over with the fans for so long. You can't work a match. So really, after she beat every where was this reign supposed to go?

I hopped on Brooke's handwagon when she came back. Except for last night (which wasn't her greatest performace), she has impressed me. Unlike Velvet, Tess can work a match. The fans are behind her. I do think she has an "IT" factor. It does help she is hot, outside that, I actually care about the character. Gail Kim? Another forum I go to tends to overrate her. She's talented, I give her that. She is one of the best workers in the business. With that said, Kim bores me. I'm not entertained by her. I have been waiting, waiting, waiting for this reign to end. Thank god it's over.

Tess reign might not last time. Just as long as it's not back to Gail.

I'm all for this. I'm cool with Gail and all, but she's been underwhelming since returning to TNA, even more so after winning the belts. Tess isn't exactly my favorite KO, but hopefully she actually has a decent run with the belt compared to Velvet when she had it. I only hope that if or when Mickie turns heel, she isn't the one to take it off of Tess.
