I really enjoyed what Cole was doing pre-Mania. The storyline should have ended then. After hearing Good Ol' JR calling the last of Mania then the start of Raw last night, I just couldn't stand Cole when he got on the mic he is starting to become stale and irritating. If they wanna keep his heel character going, make him the GM so a real commentator can do the job and call the action like JR did.

The worst thing the WWE could have done was bring JR back haha (in a joke way). I love hearing him call it and that little tease has made me just want more.

As an entertainer Cole is doing a great job, he's garnering heat and playing the whinny little bitch to perfection.. He would be a GREAT manager for a guy like Jack Swagger, and he is a great on air personaility..

That being said GET HIS ASS OFF COMMENTARY RIGHT NOW... He push's his own character at the expense of the in-ring match, he detracts from the talent in-ring, and is all around a huge negative on commentary.. The negative aspects of his character announcing far outweight any entertaining benifits he may have as a on-screen character.. I don't mind a cole segement, and I don't mind him feuding with other people ect.. But he can NOT keep on announcing, he literally ruined Dainel Bryan's initial push with his over the top character (not saying he would have show he is the best or anything, but Cole purposely overshadowed him, and it hurt his overall character in the end of the day).. ( Initially he helped get Daniel Bryan over, but I truly beleive the continued ragging on him while he was U.S. Champ hurt his run, you can't have an announcer calling your mid-card champion a joke every time he enters the ring, it does have negative ramificatioins on how he is viewed. If he was the Miz's manager he would have stopped all interaction with Daniel Bryan after there feud was over, but because he is an announcer he was forced to continue calling his matchs..)

The announcers should enhance the talent, yes there are heel announcers who enhance the heel talent, but you don't see them talking about how they could "beat up" the faces, or ragging on how pathetic a wrestler is.. You see them defending a heel's actions.. Michael Cole does not do that..

In short - Yes he can be entertaining, but he's REALLY over-exposed at this point, and is HORRIBLY detracting from the announcing on RAW. They need to solidify who the announcers are going to be and stick with it.. And Michael Cole needs to move into a managerial role

I couldn't agree more. I thought last nights horrid gimmick match would be the end of this, but I was wrong I guess. Michael Cole isn't getting the good kind of heat. I really try to put up with him, but it's so hard at this point. I just don't get it. Like you said, no one is into this storyline at this point. My other gripe with all this is, why would the have Jerry Lawler lose to Michael Cole at Maina? I got the event, so I know it was a reverse decision, but still, it just struck me as a low blow to Lawler's loyal career.

A similar angle was run in 1993. Jerry Lawler played the role of Michael Cole, and he was harassing Bret Hart and his family. Probably even worse than whats on TV now. Anyway at Summerslam 1993 Bret Hart won the match (he was in his prime and lost his first title that year) and the decision was overturned b/c Hart wouldnt free Lawler from the sharpshooter.

My point is Harts career wasn't degraded. That feud led to Survivor Series where it helped build towards Bret VS Owen, and by WM Bret Hart was the champion again. Lawler came out looking good last night. He clearly won and Cole is just saying that he won so it builds him more heat.

Michael cole is supposed to be getting heat from the crowd but this is not the heat he wants. with vickie guerrero, the crowd likes to boo her to see her get angry and get hit out of it but with cole, they really want to kill him because he is so annoying and will not shut up during a match. i am surprised no one has shot him yet lol.

I agree, I was REALLY, REALLY close to turning off my TV yesterday. At first I thought Austin would save Lawler, then that Austin would save JR, but when that didn't happen and I realise that we were stuck with him for the night...

I am done, I just can't stand the guy. He detract from the product and Booker T has to always remind him to shut up about it. He is hurting the product trying to push his character for something that will never really pay off, he will get his ass kick and be gone, but in the process he would have turned a lot of fans away from the product.

I know heel act like that but I am tired of him always twisting all the situation the way he want them like "Stone Cold throw beer on me to celebrate my victory".

He needs to go and he needs to go yesterday as fas as I am concerned.

Cole bothers me, always has. He's a terrible play-by-play guy, but his heel character does draw a ton of heat.

I think he and Lawler need to have another match at Extreme Rules, where Lawler beats him up and down the arena for a solid ten minutes..ya know, the way it should have been done the first time around.

After that, I don't much care what happens to Cole, as long as he doesn't return to announcing. They can make him a manager, the GM, or legit can his ass -- all options are fine with me. I'll take Scott Stanford or Josh Matthews any day of the week over Cole on play-by-play, and no, I'm not kidding.

If this doesn't end in another beating for Cole, I don't know how it ends. Like I said earlier, as long as it eventually ends, and soon, I don't care how.

Cole is such a dweeb. Heel or not lol. I don't know maybe since I'm trasitioning back into wrestling, I just don't like this heel crap and the fact he decided TWO nights in a roll to come out in that unflattering orange get up already has me sick.

I honestly miss Cole being the dweeb annoucer, and the dweeb who used to get tortured and embarassed when he did interviews. I don't get why the WWE is giving these announcers all this cred... They did the same thing with Coach.

Michael Cole. Why is Vince so big on this guy right now? There's some rumor that Vince sees Cole as the "new" Mr. McMahon, the super evil entity on the programs.

There's one major problem with that. Cole isn't a villain. He's that spoiled little brat with all the cool toys and lords them over the rest of us, taunting us. All he ever does is commentate whatever is going on in a match and how it relates to him and something he's done. He's gotten so cocky, I think he really believes his own kool-aid. That he's invincible and nobody within the company can touch him.

This was only exacerbated by the fact that after a bone head Twitter post that should have cost him his job, not only did he keep it, but he ended up with the win over Lawler at Mania. I understand that firing Cole would have cost King his Mania moment, but it should have been done. They could have written something to cover it. Drop Swagger into Cole's spot and he wanted revenge for Cole's firing. I don't know.

The big question is, where does the company go for now with Cole. It's obvious that he's become Vince's Man and that makes you damn near untouchable.

First off I never for a second thought that Cole should be fired for something that small. That would wreck everyyyyything.
Secondly, love him or hate him, Cole is a great heel.

Were you pumped as hell to see him get his ass handed to him at Mania? I sure was. And that's what makes his a good heel. He's probably the biggest heat-magnet in WWE today and people would pay good money to see him suffer. I used to hate the guy until a month or 2 before Mania. It's just really funny listening to the crap he has to say, and the victory lap he does with Swagger, priceless.

I don't see the need for Swagger anymore as Cole generates 3x the heat that waste of space does. Also, I would like to see Booker get somehow involved in something with Cole. They're always arguing over on Smackdown, plus it'd give him something entertaining to do.

I loved seeing Cole get pounded on at Mania. But, that was all I wanted to see happen. I wanted nothing more than five minutes of King beating Cole into the mat. To see Swagger try and get involved and get hit by one Stunner after another every time he got back up. We all wanted it. Wanted to see Cole humiliated after the crap he put King though. There were a few spots that I felt Cole went way too far, Kings mom in particular.

The company has essentially given Cole carte blanche to do and say anything he wants. Like I said, he's just about invincible right now. And more annoying than ever. I don't feel he makes a good heel, he's just hated. Mr. McMahon was the guy you loved to hate. All he does is generate heat through the lowest cheap shots possible.

I'm not the only one that has said this, but I find myself not wanting to watch WWE programming if Cole's gimmick is kept up. Even at his worst heel announcer gimmick, King was not nearly as bad as Cole. MC just wants to point to himself and try and make us thing he's as good as he seems to think he is. Let this go on long enough and he may end up truly believing his own hype.

michael cole is now sir michael cole, yet another ego booster. what is the point in doing this? just insulting the queen, and insulting london by having cole made a knight? what is this? coles ego cant get any bigger, its only changing but at the same lvl.

1)what is gonna boost coles ego next?
2)are lawler and J.R gonna slap the taste out of cole and swaggers mouth?
3)will swagger help cole in that match? or just abandon him?
discuss.

I have a feeling and hope that the ER match will end up in Swagger slapping Cole in return and abandoning him, or perhaps locking his ankle. Could open the road for a face turn as well.

As we speak, this promo was terrible and a waste of time. I was hoping that Swagger would lure Cole and turn on him, but no, yet another annoying promo of these two "beating" J.R. and Lawler.

PS: Cole's exposed foot made me wanna puke.

Honestly, I have tuned out Cole. I don't know if that is the plan but it sure is taking up minutes on TV. The entirety of his character is not interesting.

Just another way to draw more heat against him. Nothing more. Oh yeah and it does waste time obviously.

At this point I can't take any more of Cole. The guy is infuriating, I literally want to kick his ass myself. And seeing JR and King subjected to his crap week after week is starting to get to me. I get it he's supposed to be a heel but he's taking things too far. Even making JR get close to his disgusting foot was overboard. I hope after the draft he only appears on smackdown so I won't have see him.

Here's a question regarding this whole thing. Which is more infuriating? Cole being both an announcer and his godawful character OR...... The fact that he's getting more air time than half the roster?

Don't get me wrong. I hate the character. I think he can't act, it's not entertaining and I think anybody that says he's the next "Mr McMahon" character is seriously delusional. The "Mr McMahon" character generated heat in a hatred way to where the crowd looked at him and thought "this guy is an asshole." Cole is not even generating that. It was brought up earlier in this thread that he's more of a "spoiled brat" and thats exactly it. He's the spoiled little bastard that sticks his tongue out thinking it's still as effective as the middle finger. The cheap heat he generates it's not even a good heel trait, it's just cruel, tragic, sad, and....pathetic.

This storyline needs to end. And it needs to end soon. Why it didn't end at Mania, I don't know. But this has to end because with all the talk of WWE getting rid of the word "Wrestling" in their name, they might as well get rid of the word Entertainment too because they're not doing either one.

So again I ask which is worse? Cole's character or the amount of air time he's being given?

Can Cole be the new Vince McMahon? Hell yes they are grooming him for the role. Look at Cole now and Vince in the late 80's early 90's. Same hair, same smirky smile, over sold, over zealous gestures. If Cole isn't Vince's own mini me I dont know what the hell is going on here. Hell Shano o mac and Cole look like they could have brothers. And they could have easily had Cole be the illegitimate child instead of Hornswaggle a couple years ago. IN retrospective, the E has probably had this planned for awhile and just now getting to it.

Cole cannot act, over does everything to the point where he looks like hes taking the piss and not even being serious, and sounds totally scripted, and its amazing the wwe doesnt realise what a pathetic douche he is. Its not entertaining, it seems vince has confused genuine 'get off my tv' heat with real heat.

Hes a wasteman, but hes doing what hes expected to do, and we're all falling for it! Im respecting JR and King more and more by the day!

Cole however... well i cant wait for him to crash and burn!

While I can't say the same about the entire segment, I did love the part where Cole shouted "Sir Michael Cole" and the crowd would chant "SUCKS!" Watch the segment again and look at his body language. It cracked me up. I wouldn't be surprised if some joker took that scene and turned it into some techno-remix video on Youtube.

And come on, am I really the only one who literally laughed out loud when Cole forced JR to kiss his feet while screaming "KISS 'EM, YOU PEASANT!!!" ?

Yes you're the only one. It was stupid, and yet another attempt to embarrass Jim Ross who knows more about wrestling than the WWE does anymore. And Cole has gone from being a loud obnoxious horse's ass to being a Jerry Lawler wannabe. Where is the entertainment? They want to be an entertainment company, then start entertaining the fans again instead of pissing them off and annoying them

JR is a pro. I think reports about him suffering from Vince constantly publicly demeaning him are greatly exaggerated. Fan support for JR is always overwhelming for putting up with it every time they do such things to him. I think the fans are being worked a bit there. And it's not like the scene didn't serve a purpose. Now fans want to see JR forcing Cole to kiss HIS feet or even his ass.
Well, it's too bad the things Cole does receive such a negative feedback. On the other hand, he wants people to hate the stuff he does, so maybe it's better that people who liked it are in the minority.

That much I can agree. A lot can be said about JR and professional is definitely one of them. However, we all remember when Jonathan Coachman was a heel and an announcer. Not even he was this terrible. He didn't make you mute the TV or change the channel. He knew there was a limit. Thats my problems with Cole is he's getting WAY too much air time, and the fact that while he may succeed as a heel, he sucks as both heel and announcer because he's failing miserably now at doing the same job he's done the last god knows how many years.

I liked Cole back when he was JBL's bitch, now he has this thing where he things his the greatest thing since sliced bread!

And he's ruining both Raw and Smackdown :banghead: I hope that he gets his ass beat so bad at Extreme Rules that they make him go back to being a little bitch who does his job. God damn.

I mean yeah I suppose he's a good heel, but then again he does get a SHIT load of Promo time and if he isnt cutting a promo then he's just non-stop kissing ass and bagging JR and King on commentary. Surely anyone who gets as much time to talk like Cole gets can become a good heel.
