**Merged** Carlito fired...Why? Does anyone really care?

HOLY SHIT IT HAPPENED

Carlito (Carlos Colon) has been released from his World Wrestling Entertainment contract as of today May 21, 2010. Carlito’s termination was due to his first violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility.

Jesus Christ, did they burn him hard with that last sentence.

I'm so glad that he's finally gone. I mean, I hope he gets help if he was abusing prescription medication, but Carlito was one of the biggest wastes ever on the WWE roster. He had everything handed to him on a silver platter upon his debut, and thus, he felt entitled. When things weren't going his way, he gave up, stopped giving a shit, and seemed more than content collecting a paycheck while exerting minimal effort. The WWE really tried to get through to him, even having Flair call him out in what seemed like a segment that was a little too real.

The guy just did not care, and I really hope that Primo at the very least gets a fair shake because he does have talent, and he seems like he's a team player. Whatever happened with Carlito shouldn't affect his standing and it wouldn't hurt to test the waters with him a little and see if he can gain some momentum.

But getitng back to Carlito, the guy just didn't care, and it's no real loss. He's been such a joke over the past couple of years that he won't be taken seriously by anyone if he jumps to TNA.

Bye ****e.

I'm guessing it wasn't prescrpition drugs that he failed for. If you're on pain pills, chances are you've got a legit script from a doctor, which'll get you past the WWE tests, unless your drug levels are rediculously high.

Makes me think he was on drugs you ain't getting a doctor to sign for under normal circumstances.

No big loss really, he hasn't been relevant in years, even the Unified Tag run he had with Primo was shit because they broke up and they both did nothing for the better part of the year and he seemed content with it.

Maybe this will get him to rethink his life and realise everything is not handed to you on a plate. Perhaps a run on the indy circuit will get him to work hard and make him a better employee.

Definitely a sad case. He had the potential to be something in the future, he just didn't care and wanted to be handed everything. He's been losing respect in my eyes for years, and now he's officially lost it due to the drugs and unwillingness to go to rehab. WWE tried pretty hard to keep him a few years ago. I remember he was only in MITB at WM24 because he wanted at least some kind of push or he was going to leave. That's not cool.

Had a decent run as IC champion, then went a very boring after that. Character got very stale. A little shocked but not that sad, don't think I'm going to miss him. I also don't think that spitting apple in people's faces is a great angle for a PG show.

Worry for Primo - I'm not sure he has great value on his own. Don't exactly think they were going places as a tag team either.

its a shame he had potential and a good chance (which i doubt primo will get) to get far but his attitude got in the way. He then did nothing good after the ic title run until he teamed with his brother and i thought things were looking up for them both, then they split (cos carlito wanted to be heel i think) and they both faded into nothingness, then later they reformed and did... nothing execpt attack r-truth for a check (which sums up carlito) now he gone, Shame i liked the colons (or butt brothers).

Primo screwed now though that was his chance to get tv time again and carlito screwed it up for him by not going to rehab, bit selfish if you ask me but hey i dont now the full story yet

Well, I for one am certainly surprised...surprised this didn't happen years ago.

It was obvious that when he debuted back in October 2004 that the WWE had plans to make him a huge superstar. Not only did he beat John Cena, whose career was on the rise, but he won both the United States and Intercontinental Championships within one year of debuting.

What a waste of talent. You could tell sometimes that he just didn't care and was pretty much going through the motions. If what was said about him threatening to quit if he didn't get somewhat of a push and a match at WrestleMania were true, than, to quote the man himself, that's not cool.

If he does have a substance abuse problem, I do hope he gets help. But as far as not seeing him in the WWE anymore, it's no big loss. It's not like he was an integral part of the company. But without his big brother there now, Primo might be in trouble of either becoming a jobber or joining him in unemployment. Then again, his cousin, Orlando Colon, is working in the WWE Developmental System so they might become the new Colons.

But what makes this whole thing odd? The WWE didn't even say anything about wishing him the best in his future endeavors. Ouch!

He had the potential to be something in the future, he just didn't care and wanted to be handed everything.

That's the key. It's one thing to not have natural talent; it's another thing to have it and willfully not use it. I'll never understand what was the matter with this guy......any more than I'll ever understand why WWE insisted on keeping him a couple of years ago when his contract was up. It was speculated they didn't want him joining TNA, but if guys like Sting & Angle weren't increasing their ratings, why would WWE worry about Carlito?

Still, whenever a WWE regular gets released, the speculation begins as to whether he'll go to Orlando. Well, if they take him, there are two possibilities.... both negative : (1) He remains lackadaisical and TNA inherits the same problem WWE had, or (2) He gets himself in mental and physical shape and really makes something of himself. In that case, it will prove that he was ripping off his former employer by turning in a half-assed effort.

In either case....bye bye, Carlito. Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

Personally I think he wanted out of his contract because he was sick of not being used right by WWE. I think he knew if he refused to go to REHAB, they would terminate him. I think he want's to go to TNA and showcase more of his talents with the X-Division. Just my opinion. But highly probable that he will end up in TNA when his no-compete clause is up.

It's too bad. I think Carlito is someone that does have a lotta talent and, to be honest, I think he was misused a lot. Just when things looked as though they might be on the upswing for the guy, he fails the Wellness Policy.

I'm wondering if one reason why Carlito just refused to go to rehab was because this would also just completely derail whatever push he may have been getting. Even after he completed rehab, he'd probably have to go through the motions of proving himself to the WWE brass all over again.

As for Primo, just move Dos Caras, Jr. up and have him take Carlito's place. The WWE is said to be very impressed with him both in the ring and on the mic. Also, if the intent was to make make Carlito and Primo part of the "Fortunate Sons" stable, Dos Caras, Jr. is the son of a wrestling legend just as Carlito and Primo are.

i can see it now...a few months pass, then all of a sudden here comes carlito with a shaved head, left hand on his chest, right hand in the air...and CM Punk following right beside....either way you are right he was just a waste of space, i never really liked his character, his theme song gets annoying, but other than that i mean he is a pretty good wrestler when he actually wrestles lol..he will just more than likely go over to TNA, even though they probably wont pay him much...

Kind of a shame considering they had just brought back the Colons, which I think could've spiced up the tag team division a little bit more, but in the end, I guess it's the right choice, he wasn't doing much, and wasn't getting anywhere.

In the end, he was really just wasting space, sure he had his entertaining moments, but he certainly also had his boring moments, and I really don't think it will be the biggest of losses for WWE.

Well, there it is. The guy has loads of talent, none of the drive, and all of the negative qualities to NOT get you ahead in this business.

You can bet that it wasn't prescribed drugs. And you can also bet he's just gonna come right back to WWC, and his dad will most likely tell him to do so if he cleans up his act.

As for whether or not Primo gets affected by this, depends on his reaction to the whole thing. Guy is right, the man deserves at least something as he seems to actually care for what he is doing. And just as the both of them were primed to have something to work with, Carlito screws the pooch.

I never understood all the hype for Carlito, the guy was a straight shooter with lower mid-carder written all over him. And really, I'm sick of this wellness policy BS. If you can still do your job, what you do on your own time is your own business. Even if it results in a shorter life, it's your own personal choice. That being said, I've always disliked Carlito and I'm glad he's gone.

I bet you in a few weeks he'll be in TNA sniffing coke with Jeff Hardy and Razor Ramon.

I was really suprise by this. I know Carlito really didn't do anything important in 2008 and 2009 other then the tag title thing. But I thought his career was over when he broke up with Primo and it had a chance with koslav or when he formed against with primo.

This sucks cause we lost a tag team but its not a huge lost like people said above.

It's a definite shame but WWE has an obligation to take action if they don't go to rehab. I wasn't his biggest fan and he wasn't doing much anyway. Does this explain why he wasn't on NXT on tuesday? Him and R-Truth weren't there. Anyway, I digress.

Primo actually has some talent, so it would be a shame to see him go even if he has only been on Raw once this year. Carlito had some talent but he probably had to go.

My bet is something minor like pot. I'm pretty sure it was documented he wanted and he found a way out. He'll be in TNA soon.

I never liked his gimmick to be honest. Sure he was a little bit entertaining when he first debuted and had his fued with cena, but he just kinda went down hill from there.

I cant deny the guy has great wrestling ability,Anybody that can do a triple jump moonsault earn's a little bit of my respect. That being said, He hasn't been doing anything in WWE for a long time now besided losing matches on superstars, Him being released doesn't really suprise me except for the fact that it was for violating a wellness policy. I wish him luck in wherever he goes, and I hope he comes up with a better gimmick :)

I must say I am really glad this has happened, I feel Carlito is a lazy worker and has been in the E due to his dad. He is a talented guy but acutally felt like he couldn't be arsed, the same as Shelton. Whilst him being gone is a shock him going is nor a surprise as he's a lazy lazy man!

damn, why is everybody hating on the dude. It's probably more so the creative team that was the downfall to his character. I'm a go against all y'all and say that it sucks that he got released. carlito was always one of my favorites in the ring. sure, he got a bit boring but I think he has a lot of potential to main event. maybe we'll see him in tna repackaged and kick ass! now that, that's cool. YODEL:shrug:

I have a sneaky suspicion that he wanted to be fired. He just didn't have that fire in his eyes anymore. He's been on the roster for years with no transgressions i know of. I suspect that he probably wasn't using anything hardcore, as it seems the WWE are going out of their way to bury him. I don't think I've ever seen the post a release with so much malice. They usually bury their talent in ring before releasing him but since he was already as low as u can get they are trying to make him look like some junkie when in reality he was tired of being Vince's monkey.

One of two things will happen. He'll either go to TNA, or the E will bring him back and put him in the Straight Edge Society.

I'm not Hating on Carlito, I thought he was a very talented wrestler. I just never cared for his gimmick and thought he hasn't really been utilized in any way of importance for about 2 years now. If he does go to TNA I hope he starts taking things a little more seriously and proves to everyone that he has what it takes. It is doubtful, but it might be his only chance to better his career. He is still young.

. If he does go to TNA <snip>

..
he'd be a great fit for a reunited LAX taking K-Dawg's place if they ever follow up with Homicide helping Hernandez after being taken out by Morgan. He can't replace Konnan on the mic but he would make a nice addition to the stable.

Somehow I can't see Primo lasting past the end of the month, he's fairly useless without Carlito, which is a shame as he's the more talented of the duo

I agree with most previous posters that he is very talented but somewhere along the line he lost his passion. Someone high up in WWE must have seen something in him to keep him around this long even making him a pro on NXT.

It looked like him and Primo were about to get pushed as a team again. I just hope Primo don't suffer because of this. He's just as if not more talented than Carlito. Only difference is even in FCW you could tell Primo had more passion than him. They have a relative Tito Colon in FCW now maybe he can be called up to replace Carlito.

I think it's sad in a way I hope if he has a problem he will get help.
