Getting Noticed By Management
Meltdown plays host to another Kingdom Come fallout match as two competitors who did quite well in the Elimination Chamber will be squaring off against each other: Rush and Matt Tastic. However, instead of a contract for a shot at the World title, they will be competing for a chance to compete at Redemption for the Eurasian championship. Both men have been completely dominate the last couple of months and will finally have the opportunity at the gold... but who will be the man with the most hunger and determination to get there?

Deadline is Tuesday, June 26th at 11:59 PM Central Time.

Tastic gets ready to jump as Bomb has rolled onto his stomach. Bomb surprises Tastic by springing up onto his feet and driving a shoulder into Tastic’s abdomen. Brad grabs Matt’s head and walks him to the corner post. He goes to drive Matt’s head in, but Tastic gets a foot up. Matt pulls Bomb’s head into the corner and smashes it into it. The blow sends Bomb falling back into the ring. Tastic leaps onto the top rope and drops an elbow, Treble Boost. Matt goes for the cover. 1... 2.... 3.

Harrys: Here is your winner, Matt Tastic!

Matt looks pumped about the victory if also a little relieved that it’s over. The ref raises his arm and Matt stands to a loud ovation. Tastic climbs onto the nearby corner and points to the crowd who chant his name. Matt hops off the corner and rolls out of the ring and starts giving high fives to the fans at ringside.

TASTIC! TASTIC! TAStic! tastic!..........

I did it. I won. I can't believe it.

Matt's words echo from a dark shot. As the scene begins to fade in, we see him sitting on a bench in a hallway backstage with a towel over his head. A smile can be seen under the towel beneath his lowered head. It was a particularly hard match for him. Not only coming off the stigma of another Pay-Per-View loss, but also a nightmare that started to trouble him as he recovered.

Great job, Mr. Tastic!

Awesome win, Matt!

Various workers go by congratulating Matt on his win. On the outside, he may look fine and he did perform at peak level, but the fact that he was rammed back-first against the metal structure of the Elimination Chamber is something that doesn't go away so quickly. Especially when the possibilities of the anesthetics causing Matt to have these nightmares roams around.

I'm glad you're smiling. I was worried your back wasn't at a 100%. But I can see that at the least, you're fighting like you should. With everything you've got.

Alisha comes by and sits by Matt. He starts to scratch the back of his head and give off a Cheshire Cat like smile happy about her words.

Ah shoot, thanks. I was really worried for a good while in there. I thought all that medicine and the blow to the head had me messed up. Not to mention that crazy nightmare I had the other night.

What was the nightmare about?

It was disturbing. Vancel. Acting like a zombie. As if the Chaos had taken him over. He wanted me to join them. Then I was surrounded by a pool of blood, everything dried up and then he told me I was going to face Brad Bomb before Leon actually told me.

Leon did say it while you were still sleeping. Maybe you overheard it. Anything else?

Yeah.

Matt throws his towel over Alisha and jumps on her and starts to tickle her.

That you should take a shower. You smell like a stinkin' sweaty man!

Hahahahaha! Stop it, you goof! That tickles!

Matt backs off, but his smile slowly turns into a frown.

He also said... That dad never really cared for me. And that you're with me out of pity.

What? Matt? You don't really believe that, do you? Tell me that's not how you actually feel inside. Please, don't keep things bottled up.

I... I don't really know. I never thought about it, until that moment. It never ever crossed my mind.

Matt, just because your dad moved far away didn't mean he did not care about you. You know you're his only son. You hear it from him all the time. He's proud of you.

That doesn't eliminate the doubt, Alisha.

I might as well call you Rush, then.

Matt moves forward towards Alisha and looks straight at her when the comparison comes in.

What?

You have the same mindset as Rush. He thought the fans turned on him because he had to stay at home. He thought they didn't care. That he outlived his usefulness after his heart attack. You're thinking the same way about your dad. You think that because he left he didn't care about you. Even though he called you every day. He might have moved, but in the end it was you that abandoned everything. Thankfully you ended up here like you wanted in the first place.

Matt lowers his head and clenches his fists on his knees as the hard words go by.

Thanks, hon. I.. I really needed the support. I've heard a hundreds times how dad always cares for me and how I was the one who left and all. But still... He moved to another country. I was a little kid. I felt abandoned. How was I supposed to feel? Then there's that bit of him wanting to "make a better life for himself". Yeah, I get it. Living with your parents in your 30's isn't particularly something every adult wants, but come on. That better life never involved me. At all. There's a reason they say long-distance relations never work out, and I'm proof that doesn't just relate to your significant other.

Rush probably feels the same way you do towards your dad about the fans. Unfortunate circumstances, sacrifices and bad interpretations have turned him into a sour man.

I never tried to take my dad's head off or paralyze him. Rush may have felt betrayed, but that damn sure doesn't justify him playing with our emotions like he did. Alisha, I know you're probably worried about his situation, but I can't let his man-child like berserk attacks go on. Especially when you're trying to compare him to me for no reason other than to me feel better about myself.

You still think I'm here only to help you stop feeling sorry, don't you? Matt, I've known you for years. I saw you get angry and leave your house. I saw you drop out of school. And I saw you break in to pro wrestling. Why would I ever have put my faith on someone that dropped everything for a pipe dream? It's not because I ever felt sorry. It's because you made me believe. That demeanor of yours. You never wanted to quit fighting for what you wanted. I've always had faith in you. And the fans have that same faith every time you step through that curtain. They believe because they see you don't want to stop until you get your way. Just like me.

Matt takes steady breaths as he meditates on Alisha's strong, reassuring words.

I didn't think I'd ever get so far. I always wanted to, but really thought I could. Now I am. But at the same time, so many things surround us here... The Chaos, Rush... I guess I was too busy sulking in those concerns. I never really showed it, but I was... Concerned. But... Thanks to you, I know what to do. I know where I need to focus. Come on. I need to make an appointment.

Re-opening at a WZCW house show with a shot from the rooftops, Matt Tastic wrestles a local talent in front of the capacity crowd. No, not THE Local Talent, just A local talent. The appointment he mentioned took place as he met with WZCW officials to discuss something for Meltdown's 75th episode as well as the upcoming Redemption PPV. Matt wins his match effortlessly and plays to the crowd as his theme hits. He grabs a mic.

Ladies and gents, first off I wanna thank each and everyone of you out here today for coming. Your support is the sole reason this company is always pushing forward no matter what happens in closed doors.

Matt walks towards a corner and sits on the top turnbuckle clutching the mic with both hands.

Week in and week out, I come here to the ring and do what I can to put on a show you can all enjoy, win or lose. But there are times when you long for a bit more. Since last November, I've been involved in several matches trying to win a World's title match. In a sad Hat-Trick, I've lost 3 straight. But what I've longed for now isn't really a chance to win a title, but a chance to prove how capable I am.

Matt jumps off the turnbuckle and again roams the ring.

6, 30, 6. That's the number of opponents, I've had to compete against every PPV. This sport was founded as a contest between two men to prove who's superior. Not free-for-all's used as excuses to get the leftovers on the show. I constantly hear people singing my praises. How I'm a break-out star waiting to happen. How I was #1 in the F15. But funny enough, my "success" doesn't really reflect that. I haven't been a champion of any kind since 2010. I haven't won at a PPV since Unscripted nearly one year ago. I've lost every title match and contendership match since losing the Mayhem title in, well... 2010. Basically...

Matt now sits on the top rope on the side opposing the entrance ramp. He hangs upside down looking towards the crowd, mic still in hand.

I ain't done shit since the "oh-ten". But now that brings me to 2 things. Meltdown 75. ....And Rush. Remember that bloke? The one you cared about? Who pretended to have a heart attack and sucker punched me when I had the gall to check up on him? The guy who a few weeks ago rammed me on a solid steel floor landing me on a stretcher and a hospital bed for a week?

Matt drops down to the apron and now stands on the barricade pointing to himself with his free hand.

This guy hasn't forgotten. I have a nice sedative-induced nightmare to thank him for too. See, Rush is under the believe we turned on him and left him for dead after that night over 2 years ago. Funny thing though, see I was new. But I still remember the constant Get Well stuff we always signed and sent to him. I remember seeing Max Karzai poor his lungs out every freakin' day until he left over Rush's health. HELL, I've seen Action Saxton, a guy who never met Rush cry in concern over him. Rush is frustrated over a freak accident. He needs to learn that in life, Shit Happens. And it's up to us to bounce back and get ourselves together to march on. I sure have. And I'm learning that lesson once again.

Matt gets off the barricade and goes back into the ring. He stands again in the middle and sits.

We both want success, but we want it in different ways. I wanna work for it. I'm the Super Saiyan Of Pro Wrestling after all. I get stronger, even when I lose. You on the other hand, feel wronged and want the world on a silver platter because you're a "tragic" figure. You've managed to hurt me in the process. I want payback. I want to teach you how wrong YOU are. The only real tragedy in all of this is the tarnished legacy of the once beloved Rush. Now a bitter old crow who can't accept life is taking it's toll on him. Rush wants success? Beat me for it then. At Meltdown, it's gonna be you and me boy. Sadly, with both Showtime and Constantine having shots, we can't get a World title shot. But Black Dragon is perfectly free. So to the winner, go the spoils. Whoever wins, gets a EurAsian Championship match at Redemption. I hope you're ready, Rush. Because I'm bringing the Kickassery. And after what you've done to me, I'm not gonna deliver. I'm gonna run you over with the damn truck. I'm...

From under the ring, the man Matt just beat appears and hits Matt in the back with a steel chair. Laying him out on the ring as the crowd gasps and boo's. The man continues his assault on the downed Matt. The man drops the chair and grabs Matt's mic.

*huff* *huff* *huff* I'm sick to my stomach that I just lost to a soft guy like you. You're never going to win a damn thing with that cheesy attitude. You're better off just joining up with The Chaos. They already took over the company. You and the rest of the goody-two-shoes are never going to win with those guys running thi...

Matt get's back up and starts fighting back. Pounding heavily on his attacker with heavy blows and pushes him to the corner.

THE CHAOS CAN KISS MY ASS! I'M MY OWN MAN, DAMMIT!

Matt continues to stomp on the man before slamming him down. He then heads to the top ropes and springboards off. Delivering an emphatic Treble Boost to the man's sternum. The then turn the man around and locks the Cross Buster. After hard pressure and the arrival of security, he lets go and grabs the mic again.

Trust me! I'm kind, not soft. Piss me off and I'll snap you like a twig!

Matt goes up the ramp playing to the crowd, but halfway up the ramp he goes down on one knee, clutching his back. An EMT arrives to check up on his as it seems the chair shots to the back, mixed with his assault and the previous injury took their toll on him. The EMT and the now arriving Alisha help Matt to the back. But with a major match coming at Meltdown is Matt going to be 100%?

The shortest path between two points is a straight line. But what happens when that path becomes blocked?

When sediment impedes the flow of a river, the river redirects, zigging and zagging instead of following a straight course. What looked to the crow like meandering, is the water finding the most efficient route to the outlet.

Nature always finds a detour.

When two points are destined to touch, but a direct connection is impossible, the universe will always find another way to make the connection.

Even when all hope seems lost, certain ties cannot be broken; they define who we are and who we can become.

Across space, across time, along paths we cannot predict,

Nature always finds a way.

The King for a Day contract should be at my side. My mind should be at ease knowing that after three seconds, and the right opportunity, I would be the new WZCW Heavyweight Champion of the world. My hands and feet would be metaphorically placed in wet cement for the wrestling Walk of Fame. My picture hung from banners in buildings that house Hall of Fame tributes worldwide. No longer would I be considered “one of the best who never won a World Championship” by losers and virgins who hide behind a computer monitor from their mother’s basements. My status as a living legend within this business would be undoubtedly confirmed by the world over, and it was all going to begin at Kingdom Come IV.

My greatest opponent wasn’t inside the Elimination Chamber with me. Brad Bomb, Mr. Baller, Drake Callahan, Matt Tastic or John Constantine all pale in comparison to the thing that is the greatest rival to me at this stage in my career: Time. King for a Day was meant to place me on the fast track me to the very top; place me on a collision course with the Champion of this company.

As sadistic, brutal and unforgiving as the Elimination Chamber can be, I knew needed to be much, much worse. As much destruction as I caused with my two hands at Kingdom Come, it was going appear trivial to the amount of devastation that I would have caused, and the change that I would have brought if I was the one holding the title and power of the King for a Day.

I would have been a World Champion of wrestling. The first this company has seen in ages. I would begin to repave the road that I once helped build and restore the wrestling industry to the glory that it once was.

No longer would we be a farce to the world and hid behind the moniker of “Sports Entertainment.” Prestige, honor, and althleticism would finally be returned. Dirt sheets would have nothing but results to spew, rather than spread filth about who’s literally, and politically fucking who in the locker room. Wrestlers would be forced to rely on raw talent, not gimmicks and internet fame, to survive. Garbage like the entire Mayhem Division would be replaced by the respected athletes that once graced the ring. Talented men who respect themselves and this business to not have to rely on careless headshots with steel chairs and throwing themselves off of twenty foot ladders in a selfish attempt to make an name in this business. Success would once again be determined by what takes place inside the ring not by how many followers you have on Twitter, or how many time someone ‘likes’ you on Facebook. Championships are earned, not dictated by fans signing an online petition or subscribing to your Youtube channel. People the likes Matt Tastic would only allowed operating my spotlight, rather than being in one of his own.

When opportunity closes a door, it opens a window. Despite the fact that I was unsuccessful in obtaining the contract that I need to overhaul and correct this business, the chance of facing the EurAsian Champion at Redemption for the title has been planted at my feet and will have to act as the first brick that I lay down on my path to wrestling nirvana. If Matt Tastic is the bottom rung on the ladder I must climb to the EurAsian title, which I will use to as I will use as a stepping stone to catapult me climb to the peak of WZCW, so be it. I single headedly eradicated every hope and dream that he’s ever mustered in this business when I pinned him at Kingdom Come and eliminated him from the King for a Day match, and I will take pleasure in crushing those dreams again on Meltdown.

Many times, when there is a fire in a house, it is often easier to tear the structure down to its foundation and rebuild it, than it is to repair the damage that has been done. WZCW is that house. Charred, brittle and not worthy of repair as Ty Burna and his Apostles continue to tear down this company and build silver pyramids in his name. It is during times like these that the weak hide, in an attempt to avoid all eye contact. The foolish attempt to salvage and protect what little remains. But the smart; the smart are able to acknowledge and embrace their surroundings and strike when the entire world is weak.

So now, with the WZCW flag flying upside down in a sign of distress, is when we shall strike with such zealous force that we cut the heads off of those who are already on their knees.

Kingdom Come brought a storm of change and darkness, but it is one that neither WZCW nor Ty Burna and his Apostles could ever see coming.

Rush’s giant hand engulfs the metal doorknob to a large wooden door. Effortlessly he turns the knob and pushes the door open. He takes a step forward, his large body silhouetted by the light from inside the room as he briefly pauses in the doorframe.

RUSH: We need to talk.

VOICE: Indeed. Please, come in.

Rush accepts the invitation from the unseen man in the room. He enters the room and turns his body to shut the door behind him. A grin slowly creeps across his face as the door closes behind him, allowing the men in the room to conduct their business in private.
