WZCW's Mr Excitement
This is the 2nd match in the series.

The main event of Meltdown will be host to possibly the end of the series as Rush will be looking for a clean sweep, winning the Eurasian Championship series 2-0 against challenger Matt Tastic and leave the show as the champ. However, Super Saiyan's have the ability to go to higher forms and that's exactly what Tastic must do if he wants to keep himself alive in the series and make it to All or Nothing to host the tiebreaker. Will we see this match happened at the PPV or will Rush have that night off?

Deadline is 11:59pm Central Time, Tuesday 5th February. Extensions as per thread.

On a level playing field, both men prepare to stand up. Tastic, carrying less weight and younger, is up first. He positions himself over Rush and attempts to execute a second sunset flip. As he just about swivels forwards, Rush lifts Tastic upwards. The record Mayhem holder wriggles, trying to free himself from his predicament, but Rush tosses him upwards, catching Tastic in a powerbomb position and tosses him exceptionally far, actually throwing Tastic clean out of the ring! The crowd gasps as Tastic’s body crumples on the mat below. Rush screams barbarically before collapsing backward out of exhaustion. The referee begins to count once more. 1…2…3…

Cohen: That was the biggest Rushing Powerbomb I’ve ever seen. What a feat of strength from the EurAsian Champion!

4…5… Still no movement from Tastic as Rush is back to his feet. On 6 he begins to count along with the referee.

Copeland: That’s it; it’s all over for sure.

7 and then something amazing happens as Tastic begins to come round again. Rush’s mouth comes agape as Tastic begins to try and force himself from the mat. The referee reaches 8 as the crowd begins to cheer madly.

Cohen: You have got to be kidding me!

Copeland: No way…

Tastic digs deep in search of one last burst of energy and nearly finds it as the referee hits 9. Matt though has given it his all for now and can’t muster a final burst, collapsing backwards once more much to Rush’s relief. The referee strikes 10 and the match is over.

Harrys: Here is your winner and 1-0 up in the Best of Three series, the EurAsian Champion; RUSH!

Truman Harrys hands the match official the gold as Rush grins, delighted with his taking the lead. He snatches the belt from the referee’s possession and raises it high, his shadow cast over the fallen Tastic.

Copeland: What a performance from Matt Tastic, so nearly finding that last gasp of energy to come back from a move that could well have crippled most men.

Cohen: What a performance from Tastic? What a performance from the mighty Rush! The beast once more prevails and he takes the deserved lead in this series Seabass.

Following the first match of the series at Meltdown, Matt Tastic was rushed to the hospital. After severe punishment, it seems he has suffered major back injuries and is being checked. With the future of the series hanging in question, Meltdown's head honcho Big Dave is also at the hospital to see what doctors have to say. Along with Alisha he awaits the news in Matt's room.

Doctor: It would seem our patient has bad tears on the muscles around his right shoulder. Near swollen disks in his vertebrae and a concussion. He also has a bruised kneecap. To be quite honest, this man needs a vacation badly. He may even need surgery if this keeps up how long has he been wrestling.

Big Dave: 3 years straight. As far as I can tell the only guy who's been wrestling longer than him is the World Champion himself.

Doctor: That's impressive really. But this young man has many injuries that need time to heal. If he's to be healthy and keep his career strong, I advise you send him home for about 8 to 10 weeks.

Big Dave: But the man is in the middle of a series of matches. He just lost the first match out of 3.

Doctor: And look at what that one match did, Mr. Dave. I'm sorry to cut your show short, but this man needs medical attention at least for a while. I've reviewed the tapes and have seen the kind of punishment this man puts himself through. If he doesn't seek help, it could be the end of him.

Big Dave looks with concern towards Alisha knowing it can't be good news to hear. She begins to shed tears without necessarily crying. It's may be the end of the series, but not his career. Dave then turns moves his lips in a sign of disappointment. The issues between Matt and Rush had escalated so highly, he never thought it would end so abruptly........

......................Nothing can be seen. Everything is pitch black. A void of nothingness fades in after seeing the disappointed faces of Dave and Alisha. Though a voice strikes out from the darkness.

Matt Tastic: What are you doing here?

We see the face that of Rush. Intense and staring a hole into Matt Tastic. The voice that was just heard as they both stand across from each other. Standing on nothing but darkness.

..
…
….
…..

Matt Tastic: You know, there was once this crazy guy who was hopping around in joy. He completed a 20 piece puzzle. His buddy asked him what the hell he was so excited about so the crazy guy grabs the box and points. “Look! It says 2 to 5 years! I did it in 20 minutes!”

.
..
…
….
…..
…....

Matt Tastic: It's a joke, you sourpuss. At least, crack a smirk, make a witty comeback, enjoy the goddamn moment! What in the hell is wrong with you? How the hell can you go on like this?

Rush: You are nothing but a puppet. You let people pull your strings.

Matt Tastic: And? I'd much rather be a puppet that's happy than to be free and miserable like you are.

Rush: How can you be content after failing so much? You say you're happy, but just what do you have to show for it? Are you happy of your shortcomings? Are you happy with your injuries? You say I'm miserable, but I'm actually quite content being a Champion and having a companion. You're no “Super Saiyan”. You're just a kid in a mans body living in a dream. Lost in your own thoughts. Goals and discipline elude you and that's why you lose. You're just stubborn.

Matt Tastic: It's because I enjoy wrestling that I keep going. It's because I admire the people who admire me that I keep going. It's because of jerks like you that suck the fun out of everything that I keep going. “Super Saiyan” isn't just a moniker. Because no matter what, I get back up and fight harder. The first two times we fought, you beat me. But what's happened since? To beat me last time you had to literally throw me 12 feet in the air into a solid floor. The doctor may say otherwise, but I still have the will to go out and finish this series.

Rush: Your stubbornness will cost you.

Rush attacks Matt and the two battle it in the darkness. Rush manages to get the upper hand and raises Matt up for a Rushing Powerbomb. He throws him with all his strength as Matt plummets deep into the void.

Matt Tastic: AAAAAAAHHHHHHGGGGG!!!!

Matt wakes up and sits up immediately as everyone is startled by him. He pants heavily, covered in a cold sweat as everyone regains their composure. Big Dave approaches Matt Tastic to discuss the current issue regarding the series.

Big Dave: Matt..... I'm glad you're up. But there's something we need to discuss. The results of various tests have come in. And it does not look good at all. I'm going to need to stop the Best of 3 Series and send you on a sabbatical. I'm gonna need you to sign this.

Dave pulls out a paper. Presumably the doctor's slip to approve the time off. Matt looks at the paper and grabs a pen. He looks at it a bit more. And punctures a hole through it with the pen!

Alisha: What the?

Big Dave: Matt!

He then rips the paper in half and hands it to Big Dave.

Matt Tastic: Let me ask you something boss. As a guy who got to do it all, how did it feel to become World Champion after losing the King For A Day contract?

The scene fades as the moment when Big Dave won the World title back in October of 2011 is remembered. A magical moment that saw the end of Ty Burna's long and tyrannous reign.....

Unscripted '11 said:
Dave struggles and struggles, but Ty is putting as much pressure as possible on Dave’s throat. Dave locks eyes with Ty, but Ty is taken aback as he sees pure defiance in Dave’s eyes. Suddenly, Dave slides up onto his knees and then onto his feet. Ty is frantically shaking his head, not letting the hold go. Dave muscles bulge and his veins pump as he lifts up Ty, with the Séance still locked in and slams him down in a modified Powerbomb! Ty is dazed, but he refuses to let go as Dave is down on the mat again! Dave gets back to his knees and feet, and tries to lift Ty again, but he just doesn’t have the strength. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, Dave sees the chair in the corner of the ring. He puts his hand out, but it’s inches out of reach. Dave uses his last morsel of strength and drags Ty towards the chair. He grabs it with his hand and drives it into Ty’s ribs! Finally Ty lets go and both slowly get up. Ty turns around and Dave lifts him up onto his shoulder. Dave lets out a yell of defiance and nails the Stamp of Authority! He falls into the pin, 1..... 2..... 3!!!

Harrys: Here is your winner and NEW WZCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, BIG DAVE!

The crowd are going ballistic as the referee hands over the title and it touches a new holder’s hands for the first time in a year. Dave lies on his back, clutching the title to his chest with tears streaming down his eyes.

Connor: Ladies and Gentlemen, the historic reign of Ty is over! Big Dave has won! We finally have a new World Champion!

Cohen: It... It can’t be over

Fireworks go off in the arena rafters and confetti falls down onto the cell and into the ring. Dave manages to get to his feet and for the first time, raises the title into the air as the crowd are deafeningly loud. Dave drops to his knees and stares at the title for several moments before holding it to his head and kissing it. He quickly gets to his feet and climbs to the second rope posing for several seconds.

Big Dave: Um... Great. It felt great.

Matt Tastic: Rush had a heart attack in the middle of the ring. His career was supposed to be over. But he still came back.

Doctor: He took time off. You should do the same.

Matt Tastic: No, he overcame adversity. He kept going until he couldn't go anymore. Then he was forced out and still came back. I can still go. I can still fight. So I will continue the series, even if it's for one match and even if it means my career. Now take that doctor's note and shove it, because I'm not taking time off. He lost to me at the Supershow. He couldn't beat me at Unscripted, so he took a Double Count-Out, he couldn't beat me at Meltdown, so he had to throw me from the ring to the outside. Yet I'm still breathing. If Rush wants to finally beat me, he'd better be willing to become a murderer. Because he'll have to kill me to finally stop me.

Doctor: How stubborn of you to risk your life for the sport.

Matt Tastic: Is it? People admire you and you admire the people back. You go out there and give it your all for them and they respect and praise you for it. It's happiness what makes people enjoy their lives and I provide that to the fans of WZCW. Not to mention that's it's always been my dream job. Let me ask you, what was your dream as a kid?

Doctor: Hmm.... To be a doctor I guess.

Matt Tastic: And you achieved your dream. Would you give up on a patient with an incurable disease? If someone is diagnosed with AIDS or cancer, do you give up on trying to help them because you couldn't see the solution? Rush has proven to be bigger and stronger than me. That hasn't stopped me from fighting yet. And just like those patients, God bless them, we wrestlers stay the course until we can't take it anymore. I can still take it. So I'm going back there.

Alisha intervenes pleading Matt to be reasonable. Her hands clenched she kneels on Matt.

Alisha: Please, Matt. Don't be so reckless. Look at how bad you are right now. Think about how worse it could get. I don't want to see you get hurt like that again.

Matt lowers his head reflecting on Alisha's pleading. He looks at everyone in the room before looking at Alisha again with a stern face.

Matt Tastic: I'm sorry, but I can't do that. It would mean living with regret. Never knowing if I really could've done it or not. One day, I'll retire regardless. The day after that, I want to be able to look back and reflect on my career and how I did everything I could. If I back down now, I could come back. But that stain, that smear of how I stepped back when I was so close would always be there. I can't do that to myself. It would be eating at me every day. Do you understand that feeling, doc? You never give up on a patient. A wrestler could never give up on the fans. Because he never knows when the ride ends for him. "Hey, you used to Deliver Kickassery. But then you just disappeared because you got hurt." Sorry, I don't wanna be that guy.

Doctor: I understand….. Reckless, but I understand. Crystal clear. Good luck, I guess.

Matt Tastic: Thank you doctor.

Doctor: After your match though, you march your ass back in here.

Matt Tastic: Why?

Doctor: Because you're still hurt and if you do win, that means another match afterwards. But please, take a break after this.

Matt Tastic: OK. But only a short one, doc.

Big Dave: Oh boy.... Good luck out there. And be careful. If something happens and I have to stop the match, I will.

Matt is behind zero to one in the series. This match is a must win for him. Not just to stay alive in the series, but to keep Rush from injuring him further. Can Matt secure the win and move on to the tiebreaker at All Or Nothing? Or will either Rush or the injuries prevent him from winning the title?

Everyday begins the same. My fingers instantly move to the top of the alarm clock to turn off the 5 AM alarm. I continue to lie in bed, surrounded by darkness and silence. At first, I stay in my bed by choice and contemplate the day ahead. Eventually I choose to get up, but am kept in my bed by force.

My mind urges me out from the warm confines of my bed and blanket but my damaged body does not obey. Mentally, I will myself to rise. Physically, my back, hips and knees ach and prevent me from moving with any agility and speed that I once experienced. Minutes pass before my mind and body sync and work together to life my mammoth frame to my feet.

With a slight hunch, I slowly shuffle towards the en suite washroom. Ashamed of my declining appearance, I straighten myself as much as possible before stepping into view of the mirror above my sink. I open the door to the medicine cabinet and remove a number of pill bottles. Some pills relax my back and muscles, others ease the pain in my joints, and one is designed to prevent further damage to my heart.

Aided by a tall glass of water, I ingest the pills one by one.

**********

The sunlight creeping through the gap between two curtains gently eases Matt Tastic to wake. He twists his body as he stretches between the sheets. In mid-stretch he sees his alarm clock, smiles and proudly realises that he didn’t oversleep. Without hesitation, he escapes his bed with just over an hour left in his morning.

**********

I simultaneously lower myself slowly into a leather chair in my living room while reaching for the remote control that I had placed previously on the table. I hit play on the remote and the VCR begins to play the video cassette tape that I had put in earlier. Part of my attention is on my lunch as I cut into my chicken breast and asparagus. The majority of my focus is on the footage in front of me.

Despite my years of experience, I still enjoyed studying old wrestling matches from various events world wide. It was a habit that I developed over thirty years ago when I was first breaking into the business, and one I still keep now as I try to stay current with the constant changes that occur in this sport.

I rarely watch anything from WZCW. There is very little that I can learn from the crop of talent that wrestle for the broken promotion compared to the wealth of knowledge that I can witness by the thousands of wrestling legends that competed before WZCW even existed.

**********

Matt Tastic lays sprawled across his couch, his head barely propped up above the rest of his body. He pauses from eating his sandwich, fascinated by the imaginative and violent action on displayed on the large television which has been mounted on the wall. The Blu-Ray disc he was currently watching was a gift from Alisha.

Every so often, after Matt’s big matches, she would express how proud she was of Matt in the form of an Anime movie or television series. Matt wasn’t sure why she stuck with him and endured his career. He was on the road and away from home 300 days of the year, and when they were together, she was out of the spotlight rather than standing beside him in it.

She would never ask him to leave WZCW and the wrestling business in general, but if she did, Matt would gladly give it all up for her.

**********

I set my grip on the barbell above me at the local gym in preparation for my main event match on Meltdown tonight. While I am still able to push around large amounts of weights, it is only a fraction of the strength that I used to display.

Before I would lift to grow. I would push myself to the limit to increase my size, strength and muscle endurance. Now, I lift strictly to maintain. I lift in an attempt to cling onto what I have worked so hard to build, despite it seemingly fading away year after year.

**********

Like most days, Matt Tastic was participating in a WZCW public relations event. He had always been heavily involved in promoting the company that supported him. Media interviews, television spots, granting wishes for sick children, he proudly did whatever the company asked of him and more. Now he was hosting a meet and greet with a small group of lucky WZCW fans who had won a radio contest. He posed for pictures, signed autographs, answered questions and assured everyone that he would even the Best of Three Series against Rush tonight.

He doesn’t do this for himself or for WZCW. He does it for the fans. He is thankful for them to spend their hard earned money on seeing him compete and buying his t-shirts. He believes in them, and they believe in him.

He had become just as vital to WZCW outside the ring as he was inside of it. It is his unprecedented devotion and eagerness to champion WZCW in the public’s eye that makes him so valuable to management.

**********

Before my match, I pace back and forth backstage, shielded from the view of the live crowd by a black curtain. I am focused and consumed by my own thoughts. My music begins to play throughout the arena. I begin to massage my hands together as I listen for the appropriate cue to emerge from behind the curtain so I can be showered by a chorus of boos. Even after all of these years, nervousness overcomes me and my heart rate increases dramatically.

Before this moment, I was a weakened old man. I was a fragile shell of what I once was just trying to survive and doing everything possible to cement my legacy in the history books.

From this moment on, I am an intense and unbreakable monster. I am the best wrestler in this company with decades of experience to call upon. I am the EurAsian Champion, and not one single person in this company is capable of taking the title from around my waist. I am strengths without weakness.

I am a professional wrestler.

**********

Before his match, Matt Tastic continues to prepare. He alternates between push-ups on the floor and pull-ups which are aided by a hanging beam nearby. Music from his favourite animes blast his eardrums from earbuds that connect to his iPhone. He sees the visual cue from a backstage employee, puts the iPhone down and grabs a bottle of water. He drinks part of it before dumping the rest over his head. When he is ready, he intensely and opens the curtain with a confident smile. The fans scream their love for him, and he shows them his gratitude.

Before this moment, he is a man who is literally living his childhood dream. As gratitude to the fans, he works as hard as he can to be apart of the best match of the night and tries to ensure that every fan gets more than their money’s worth, regardless of his position of the card or role on the show.

From this moment on, his contributions to WZCW outside the ring make him more valuable to the company than his actions inside of it. He is athletically gifted, but has a proven record of falling short of the finish at every big occasion that is gifted to him. He has the support of the world, but can’t win when it counts. He is his own worst enemy inside the ring, pandering to the crowd rather than targeting the win.

He is a sports entertainer.
