MD 24: Garth Black and Phoenix vs The Full House Daves (Non Title)

WZCW Tag Team champions Ace David and Big Dave, the Full House Daves, take on the hot tag team of Garth Black and Phoenix in a non title bout!

Garth Black is sitting at a desk in the changing rooms. Becky Serra walks into the room and heads over to him.

Hello Garth, I'm here to interview you again.

Joy.

So, what do you have to say before your big matchup with the full house Daves this week.

This week we face the Daves in their first match together since winning the title. That's a pretty big deal for them, and a bigger deal for us. In the time since we were robbed of what was rightfully ours, we have become a cohesive unit, and picked up wins against to of the most proficient tag teams in WCZW today. But that isn't really saying much. This week we have te ability to show who is better, and force the powers that be into granting us a championship shot.

You seem to have a lot of courage, considering you are one of the teams that were beaten by Daves, don't you think that gives them an edge.

Their edge is about as sharp as you Becky, so we have nothing to worry about. Sure they won, big deal. You know who else got a win? Barabbas. He won his life, Jesus lost his. You know who has a following of over a billion and a half? Nobody is cheering for Barabbas now, and this time next week nobody will be cheering for Daves.

You seem to be using more and more biblical references, don't you think that is a little blasphemous?

Do not judge lest ye be judged, Ms Serra. I'm sure the lord doesn't look to favourably on what you get up to with your... ahem.... special friends in the brrom closet, but I don't bring it up ever. Look, myself and Phoenix are the second coming of tag team wrestling, and we are here to offer salvation to all that is great and good in WCZW, and to do so we need to be beating teams like the Daves. These guys may be a full house, but we're a full street of greatness, and we will beat them this week on Meltdown.

Those are some pretty strong words

As strong as your hatred for toothpaste, I'm sure. Ace David, tell me what the odds of me walking up to you and giving you the pasting of your lifetime. Whatever you give, it's a good bet, because it is a certainty. As sure as Becky Serra opens her legs nightly, I will destroy you. Ace, you may think you have a few tricks up your sleeve, but I have seen it all. I am well aware of what you might try, and I'm completely unfazed by it. You're a joke, and when I'm playing, it's always Ace low, and this match won't be any different.

Wow, what about Big Dave? Anything to say to him?

Not really. Big Dave is much like a big tree. Immobile, bereft of intelligent and dull. I probably can't outpower him, I can accept that. I can outsmart him, and I will do so. I'll run rings around him all day long until he can't go any further and then I'll be crying timber as he falls to the mat and we take over.

 

[Phoenix]

The scene is backstage earlier in the day before Meltdown 24. The tech guys are moving stuff around and the camera turns to the entrance from the car park. Some light laughing and talking can be heard as the Full House Daves enter the arena carrying their bags and tag titles with them. As they’re chatting amongst themselves, they notice a figure off screen, they walk over and the camera follows, it’s Becky Serra going through some notes on top of a large tech box. The tag champions put their bags down and lean on the box as they prepare to speak to her.

Ace: Hey Becky!

Becky: Hey Guys! How you doing?

Big Dave: We’re good, we’re good, just arrived as you can see. What you up to?

Just going through the run down of tonight’s show.

Sweet, are we there?

Yep, and you’re both in a non-title tag match against…(Becky hesitates with anger under her breath) Black…and Phoenix!

Dave takes a step back in shock, Ace smiles

Did I just hear you correct? You mean, us two, the tag team champions are actually teaming up again for the first time Unscripted?!

(Sounding very annoyed) Yep!

Oh damn, that’s great…er… Ace, I’ve forgotten how to do a tag match. I’ve been reffing and handicapping it, how do you it again?

Ace stands straight and leans out his arm

It’s like I showed you, you just slap my hand

Dave looks at his hand which is shaking frantically

It’s ok, you can do it, just tag the hand

Dave moves his hands closer, shaking even more

Go on tag me, tag me, tag me!

Dave screams and go for Ace’s hand, Ace sykes him and Dave slaps himself in the face. They both laugh and high five each other. Both turn back to Becky.

Nah, seriously, it’s great we can do our thing again. I mean, for the past two Meltdowns we’ve been hearing nothing but the “true tag team” going on about how they are the best team in the WZCW. Granted, they are a team who’ve had momentum, they’ve beaten USA, Anoki & The Driveby Express. I got up and personal with them in their last match as the ref, they’re a good team, but excuses doesn’t give them credit. They say that they’ve never lost a real tag team match and exclude Unscripted as one of their losses, they wouldn’t rant as much if they were in our position, would they Ace?

Nawh man. I mean, I’ve watch what these guys can do and they’ve done some good work, albeit they had a handicap match with Christenson being injured, but that’s not an excuse for them or us tonight. Tonight we’ll show them who the true tag team champions are, they’re “unbeaten in normal conditions”, we’re unbeaten as a tag team, one of them is going down tonight and the other will watch as he fails to stop a 1-2-3 for the FHD.

You guys appear pretty confident for the match

Yeah, but unlike these two, we have the evidence to prove why we should be that. As you said we’re confident, not complacent, confident. We are the WZCW Tag Team Champions, we beat 4 other teams to get these belts and we’ll happily prove to anyone, anywhere why we are just that.

Likewise, I hope Black & Phoenix try to bring their A game because we want the fans to have a taste of what the best can do in the Tag Team Division, sure, everyone is going on about the EurAsian Tournament at the moment, but tonight the fans get to see the Tag Team Champions return home and do what they do best, they won’t be disappointed.

Ace takes out a deck of cards

Pick a card Becky. If you can pick out the card that will back the outcome of tonight, you know the odds are in favour of the FHD.

Becky takes a card

It would appear so

Becky shows she’s picked the Ace of Spades. Ace and Dave smile

And like that, the Aces are high for us tonight.

Right Becky, it was nice chatting, but it’s time to get unpacked and prepare for tonight, will catch you later

FHD walk away and the camera follows, a random walks by, Ace stops him

Hey dude, hold these for me. Hope like us, you can make your own luck!

Ace gives the deck to the random. FHD walk off as the random goes through the deck to reveal all the cards were Ace of Spades.

Fade out.

 

[Thriller Ant]

We see Becky Serra walking down a hall, seemingly in search of something. Out of a side room, laughing can be heard. It is the kind of laughing you hear when someone finds five dollars on the sidewalk right after they parked their car at a meter with money still in it. Becky peeks into the room, and she looks like she has found who she was looking for. The camera enters the room, and the pink and black painted face of Phoenix is seen sitting on a chair in the locker room.

Phoenix, before we begin, what was that laughing all about?

(chuckles again, then begins) I just saw the card for Meltdown tomorrow. We finally get to take on the Olson twins.

The who?

(looks annoyed that Serra didn’t get the joke) The Daves, Becky. The Full House Daves.

(still confused) Ok…Why is this match something to laugh about?

Because, Garth and I finally get our chance. We’ve had to jump through some of the most ridiculous hoops in the history of professional wrestling just to get a non-title match. We’ve had to deal with a guest referee and a team not even in our universe, much less league, just to face a team holding the belts we were never given a fair chance to win.

But don’t you have to actually beat the Full House Daves first?

Of course we have to beat them you dimwit. And I’ll admit they must have some kind of talent if they are holding our belts, but it isn’t nearly as much as I have in my little finger. Ace has been a failure at everything, I mean, kicked out of a garage band? So, for him I guess I’m glad they won so he could have some kind of success in his pathetic excuse for a life. As for the big guy, he is just another big, stupid brute giving real athletes like Garth and I a bad name. I mean, the man probably couldn’t spell ‘abc.’ We are, at the very least, the best tag team on this roster and it has taken way too damn long for us to prove it. Daves, tonight we beat you in a non-title match. Hell, next week WZCW will probably try to screw with Garth and I again and put us all in singles matches, but we will still win. Then, finally we will get our fair shot at the tag team titles that we deserve and beat you one more time. And you know why we will win? It's because we are better. We have been better. AND WE WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER!

Phoenix takes a moment to regain his composure, then begins again.

Becky, I know Garth was confusing you with Biblical references earlier, so let me use another. The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years before they made it to the Promised Land. Garth and I are almost done with our time in the desert; and Daves, we are coming to take the Promised Land from you.

Phoenix looks down at Becky with a sly grin, and walks away. Becky looks more confused than ever, as the screen cuts to black.

 

[Phoenix]

We open on a black screen, fate voices are being heard, slowing coming into fade is the faces of Garth Black and Phoenix, the voice are coming much clearer, but it’s broken parts of their interviews with Becky Serra.

OUR tag team titles are waiting, Garth and I are the best tag team in WZCW
taking what was rightfully ours

we have not lost a real tag team match, we were never given a fair chance to win.
this time next week nobody will be cheering for Daves

the Daves got lucky because they aren’t the best team
the second coming of tag team wrestling

We are, at the very least, the best tag team on this roster

The camera zooms out of a switched television to find Ace, annoyed and cross-armed, and Big Dave, equally unimpressed, staring at the blank screen.

Big Dave: You know, it’s getting annoying how these two can just let their mouths run and expect to called the best when they’ve yet to beat the best.

Ace: I know, I know

(After a short pause) It’s just…frustrating…week in week out, we’ve been separated and these two are ranting and raving on “how they were robbed” and they will be better than us, robbed of what? They’ve never had anything to lose! What happened to the tag division when we doing some solo work? Also, who the hell sent us that DVD?

Dude. Keep with it. It’s just someone trying to mess with our heads, who else do you think it would be? (Ace rolls his eyes indicating the obvious choice)

(Deep breath) Yep, it’s Phoenix and Black trying to mess with us, get us off our game, thinking it would be easy with us being apart for a while

Exactly! And you know it’s going to backfire on them

You’re damn right it! What they now will get is the full power and strength of the FHD, they will be Rocked Out with a Stamp of Authority

That’s it dude, we can do, we can bring it to them! The best tag team, the Tag Team Champions are returning to the ring tonight and we’ll set the arena alight with what we do best.

And setting the mark for how Tag Teams should do it in the WZCW!

Exactly! I’m pumped and excited! (Putting his tag belt over his shoulder) Let’s do this

Wait!

Yeah?

Don’t forget to bring some of that Main Event skill you had last week with you! We’re the top guys right now and we will continue to rise up, at least you can say that you’ve done more than these guys in the space of a month!

Ace smiles

You know it! And you’ve done more as well! Now let’s get out there and not disappoint the fans, cause tonight, as I said before, the Aces are high and these two crackerjacks won’t know what hit them!

Big Dave smiles and they both high five with their tag belts and walk out
