Match concepts that are cool but not seen

I am The Last Baron
New thread idea. Match Concepts that are cool but not seen, these are legitimate match concepts that are used in places they just are not common in anyway.

The Eliminator. This is one that is done in a Local Promotion in NZ called Impact Pro Wrestling. Its a battle(royal rumble) Royal with a bit of a twist. 20 participants, 2 start, then it is Royal Rumble rules, so every x amount of time a new entrant comes in, throw the opponent over the top rope to eliminate them. Once it gets down to the final two a ref jumps in the ring and it in effect becomes a standard match where the only way to win is to pin, submit or have the opponent DQd

Any other match concepts that you know of that sound cool but are not seen elsewhere that you are aware of?

The Terror Dome match. Not the TNA variant. The original AAA concept that you could actually see what's going on. The concept is that all participants in the match are obligated to wager their mask or hair. Last one left in the cage is the one to pay the penalty.

Sometimes it's done War Games style with it being Trios vs Trios. Or the last two fight each other later without the cage.

Tornado Tags. Guarantee non-stop action, allow for interesting double-team dynamics and open up a few psychological routes that are only present for several seconds in regular tags.

Isn't that the same as TNA's gauntlet matches?

That was my initial thought also. Didn't they do something similar with a reverse battle royal too?

My pick would be to use the Elimination Chamber structure for a tag-team match, with 3 teams involved. Could be interesting.

ive always thought this would be a better way to do the actual RUmble. Or perhaps a fatal 4 way with the final 4. Only so many ways to do the over the top rope deal. Not to mention you stretch out the drama.

Tornado Tag matches seem to be a thing of the past. 3 Stages of Hell is under used. I know I'm the only one that misses the Championship Scramble, but think it would be fun to do from time to time.

I am positive it has been preformed elsewhere but I will reference the version I am most familiar with. The Norther Wrestling Federation runs an event called Thunderdome. It is nothing similar to the WCW version but rather a War Games hybrid. Single ring and standard cage. It consist of multiple individuals fending for themselves in pursuit of the promotions top championship. Two combatants begin and are joined every two minutes by a new competitor. Once all competitors have entered the eliminations begin. Pin fall, submission or removal from the cage. Occasionally you will see weapons entered into the match. Last man standing wins and claims the title.

Almost as though it was a chamber...of eliminations....

Triple H vs Sting but with the proper outcome

Edit - Who am I kidding? That was never a great concept

I think the scramble is a great idea.

Interim WWE Champion The Brian Kendrick would agree, no doubt.

Oh shit dude! NWF Thunderdome Nasty Russ. I know all about it. That's cool. I pick ultimate X matches. Imagine having one in NXT if like Neville was still there or whatever. Toss him Itami, Balor, Zayn, for the NXT title. Would be the shit. I also like the TNA match with the red dome over it and you climb out the top. It was referenced in here but I've never seen the AAA one I don't think so I have to check that out.

Holy shit. That didn't even cross my mind. I guess b/c the set up and entrances look so different. To be fair to the NWF they've been running Thunderdome longer than the Chamber.

And with the way you described it all entrants have to be in before the eliminations can start right? Where as Elimination Chamber that's not the case.

What's the removal from the cage bit you mentioned as being a form of elimination? Would that be like if a guy is knocked out and has to be taken out or what?

Feast Or Fired for me.

I love the idea as it takes MITB and multiplies it by 4. It's just the breifcases on four poles that annoy me. I mean if you're going to rip off the briefcase aspect of MITB you might as well rip off the ladder match aspect as well.

Also King Of The Mountain. I liked that match idea. It was just a clusterfuck

It is rare but occasionally a participant will be tossed thru the door. Also the extremely rare occasion when someone falls from the top of the cage.

The door bit I was kind of thinking about.

It does add a really unique element to the match.

Tornado Tags are great. 3 stages are the ultimate blow off

I always thought you could have a match where you pretty much throw the opponent out of the arena. Like you beat him to a pulp and then add complete insult by puttin him out the door of the arena. What could sell this idea greatly is if the fans exited in droves too to see the loser getting ejected.

I was just on youtube looking up some unique match types. Not sure how cool it is but it is most certainly different. The Crazy 8 Match used in Pro Wrestling Unplugged. It involves scaffolding, one side of a steal cage, trampolines, rope swings and rope ladders. The objective is to climb to a championship for the win. From what I could tell its spot monkey mayhem but still very different.

For full-show craziness: a massive falls-count-anywhere elimination match starting in the ring. 30+ men going at it all over the arena, with split-screen camera, battles merging and splitting, alliances forming and breaking and one man surviving the carnage after more than an hour.
