Why do you guys make such unbelievably brilliant music? Joy Division, New Order, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Buzzcocks, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, John Mayall, Oasis, The Verve, the list goes on and on. I just realized this. Probably because I'm obsessed with Factory Records.

Is there something in the Manchester water? Anyone here from Manchester?

I live close to Manchester than the actual city of Stoke. My music isn't the best though.

Most of those bands don't actually come from Manchester, they're just associated with it because of Factory Records, and thus the larger music scene. Joy Division and New Order are from Macclesfield, The Verve are from Wigan or something, and most of the others bar the Smiths are from the suburbs. The reason it's sogood is because Northern Britain was in a piss poor state of afairs in the 1980s, thank you Thatcher, and poor socioeconomic cnditions tend to produce the best art.

Oh I realize that alot of those bands don't actually originate from Manchester, but they all made a name for themselves there and became a part of that scene. Really I'm just talking about the whole Madchester scene in the 80s, as well as the C86 movement.

I would kill a newborn puppy to travel back in time to that scene, go to the Hacienda, man that would have been great.

And only on WZ does a thread about music turn into a thread about British soap operas. I'm presuming their soap operas because I have no fucking clue what the hell you guys are talking about.
