Maine's Republican Governor wants to roll back child labor laws

For those of you that don't want to read it, the governor of Maine wants to allow kids to be able to work more hours including later at night and for a "beginner" wage, meaning lower than the national minimum wage. Well of course it should be. Why not do this so that you can prevent any business from ever having to pay the full minimum wage to adults?

Go ahead.

And how can they not expect us not to trust them...Another way to put money in Big Business' pocket. Fuckin morons

Actually, I would say this probably would benefit small business just as much, if not more, than big business.

It's still wrong, I just like correcting statements I feel are inaccurate.

This is just as good for small business as it is for corporations. It may be morally wrong but it won't just benefit the big guys, it's not blatant.

Thank you Sly, much appreciated, however im pretty sure big business is behind this in one fashion or another. You are probably right, but with the unemployment rate where its at, how in the hell does this make sense what-so-ever.

Who said it made sense? I think it's silly.

THOSE KIDS ALWAYS TAKING SWEETS AND EDUCATION FORM THE GOMMINT AND NOT PUTTING ANYTHING BACK IN. THOS EKIDS SHOULD WORK FOR LESS THAN LESS OF THE MINIMUM WAGE.

Durrrka durrrrrr!

An article from the huffington post means nothing. Did anyone actually read it or just go on more right wing bashing?

I read it, from a couple of different sources. Basically the same message through...worry less about children's efforts in school, and worry more about paying people under 20 less than minimum wage.

Find a similar article from Fox News and the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I looked for it on Fox News website, just now, and it's no where to be found. Not surprising for a business who basically makes up and falsifies their stories.

Example: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20...earmongering-piece-about-new-video-game.shtml

No, even with understanding what you're trying to say (get perspective from both extreme ends, and then meet in the middle), I wouldn't use Fox News website for anything, considering they don't even report any facts, take "expert" opinions out of context and falsify what they say, and basically do nothing more than fear mongering.

By the way, I hate Fox News, can't ya tell?

In the UK we have three minimum wage brackets

16-18
18-22
22+

(I think)

I used Fox News as a joke. The Huffington post is pretty much worth what ever you use for lining.

It's only a 6 month period where a company can hire a minor for that wage, then I suppose it has to go up to minimum wage. It's really a non issue though. Most kids work restaurant jobs, and they make far less per hour.
