Madusa Miceli vs. WWE Divas

Nikkolas

Occasional Pre-Show
Madusa, also known as Alundra Blayze during her few years in the WWF, is a very famous womens wrestler. Not only for her talent, but for trashing the WWF Women's Championship belt on Monday Nitro.

But enough of history I'm sure we all know. The reason I made this thread was to get people's opinions on how well Madusa stacks up to the divas of the WWF. The reason I chose to put this here is that, while it does have to do with older wrestlers, I'm also looking to have Madusa compared against current WWE talent like Beth phoenix, Gail Kim, etc..

The thing that really got me interested in hearing a variety of views on this was that I mostly heard nothing but good things about Madusa's ability. While not the best wrestlers ever, she was one of the best to ever come out of North America. Yet during my search of this forum about topics where Madusa was discussed, I found a poster (I forget their name) who said Madusa simply couldn't work on the level of more recent divas like Trish or Lita.

Hence the topic. I've seen a fair share of Lita and Trish matches and I've also scowered YouTube for any Madusa/Alundra match. I really, personally, thought Madusa was a much better all-around than either of those two. I think Madusa was a total package of sorts. Good striker with her kicks, could mat wrestle and apply holds if she really wanted to, could do some high flying moves, decently fast and agile and quite strong for her size. (german suplexing Bull and Bertha can't be easy even if they do assist)

But hey, I haven't seen all of Trish's and Lita's matches. i could easily be missing something. I also do not really keep up with modern WWE wrestling. i hear a lot of good things about Natalya and them but I don't watch so I can't really compare.

So, that's my question to the good posters of this forum. How does the 3 time WWF Women's Champion stand up to the divas of the late 90s all the way to the current roster?

Good thread man. Personally, I think Madusa would more than hold her own against any Diva in modern history. (modern being from Hulkamania on). The only Divas that would even hang with her in the ring are Lita, Trish, Mickie James, Beth Phonix, and Victoria. (I'm probably leaving a couple out). If Madusa had been 5 years younger we would think of her as one of the greatest of all time. 99.9% of todays Divas wouldn't even be able to lace her boots. That probably isn't saying that much because most of today's Divas are barely passable in the ring. Hell, shes only 46 today. I'd bet hard earned money that she could come back and be the best performer in the entire Divas division in 2011.

Madusa was really good. I remember her growing up & thinking she was fantastic. She also won the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.
She could def hang with the Divas or Knockouts. I think she'd be better suited in TNA to be honest. Even at her age I think she could be a good Knockout's champion, feud with Tara & Angelina.

As a wrestling fan for many years now. I don't mind watching a Diva or Knockout Matches as long as the match has female wrestlers that can actually wrestle. The likes of Ivory, Chyna, Madusa, Lita, Jacqueline, Beth Phoenix, Natayla, Jazz, Molly Holly, Trish, Victoria, Mickie James, Awesome Kong, Gail Kim, Angelina Love, Sarita, Ayako Hamada, Trinity*, and Melina* I guess.

Theirs probably a few in the Indy scene that I'm not aware of but their are talented female wrestlers it's hard to actually catch them because WWE doesn't really hired them anymore. TNA sometimes hired the right people but then a week or so later they get released for some reason.

If TNA and WWE just hired the right female talent that can do the job done either company division will be great. I don't hiring a few other female for their looks but used them where they belong as a manager or valet. Occasionally put them in Mixed Tag Matches just for fun time to time.

Back on topic Madusa would wipe the floor with any current WWE Divas. The ones that I think would be fun to watch her face off against would be Beth Phoenix, Natayla, Gail Kim, Melina, and Tamina*.

To be honest those are the only WWE Divas that I think can wrestle and with them facing someone as talented as Madusa it would be interesting how they will do.

None of these divas has faced anyone with REAL power like Awesome Kong or Bull Nakano or Bertha Faye. Yeah, Natayla and Beth has power no doubt but besides those two none of the Divas has faced real strength and talent like all the other past Divas you will like to call them.

I would love to see Awesome Kong or Bull Nakano or Bertha Faye or someone in that nature show up in WWE and dominate all the other divas. Leave Natayla and Beth out of this and just watch and see how the other divas would work against a monster like that. WWE will finally come to terms and see that their divas can't wrestle at all.

I believe you need a female wretler trainer to really teac these girls how to wrestle because finlay does a decent job time to time. Someone like Madusa or Ivory, Lita, Jacqueline, Trish, Victoria, Mickie James, and Ayako Hamada are you best bet to teach the divas what to do properly if they really want to learn how to be the best female wrestler out their.

Like the post but I wish Madusa had a better shot or career in either WCW or WWE/F. These days she's better off staying at home though.

Yeah, as amazing as some of her matches were with Bull in the WWF, I'm tempted to say Madusa would have been better off staying in Japan and wrestling there for her career. Hell, it was Madusa who insisted Vince import Bull, and later Aja and some others, so that she could have some real competition in the WWF.

And her career in WCW was just a joke. She lost to "Oklahoma" and did stuff like cologne advertisement. Fucking Russo and Bischoff.

Also I forgot to mention something earlier. Trish seems to have borrowd a move from Madusa's arsenal. i think Trish called it the "Stratusphere" but you can see Madusa use it at about 1:04

I adored Medusa - as a valet she really came across as dangerous, even to guys like Sting. She was excellent with the Dangerous Alliance and along with Miss Madness (Molly Holly) was the most watchable thing about 'Team Madness'.

It has to be said, her American wrestling career was very poorly done - asides from a couple of matches against Japanese competitors. It would have been great if she had been about TNA in the Kim/ Kong era as they had some excellent female stars at that time or even in WWe when Lita, Trish, Mickie and Victoria where all competing. However, while attractive, I doubt that a twenty something Medusa would get a look in with Vince over the last decade. Possibly not in the current Knockouts division either. Great thread, I feel it once again highlights the model biased wrestling scene in Entertainmentland and TNA:disappointed:
