Lockdown '14 — Team MVP v. Team Roode — Lethal Lockdown

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
ppv2.jpg

If Team Roode wins, Bobby Roode owns ten percent of TNA Wrestling, thus somehow giving him more stroke on IMPACT Wrestling.

If Team MVP wins, he assumes complete control of "wrestling operations" (a fancy term for General Manager, it seems) from Dixie Carter, who takes a long walk off a short bridge in the direction behind the curtain.

I think we all know who we want to see win this one, eh?

If Team MVP do not come out on top in this one, Then I might have to stop watching TNA. If Dixies team comes out on Top, then you know TNA has no intention on making any real Changes and that Dixie and everyone else behind the scenes have not learned from there mistakes. If Team MVP wins, then I actully believe TNA has a chance of getting back to where they were before Hogan and Bischoff came in meaning the Company could end up having quite a bright future. As for the Match, I fully expect it to steel the Show. We already know MVP is going to be joined by the Wolves, who have been on fire since joining the Company and after the anouncement that Jeff Hardy is returning at Lockdown, I think it will be safe to say that he will be joining Team MVP. As for Team Roode, I imagine Bad Influance will be on the team and I can also See EC3 being added and with how things have unfolded between the two in the last few weeks, I can see Carter turning Face and costing Roode and his team the match.

I like to think the story is set to play out with MVP's team getting the victory, MVP gaining control and setting in motion the changes he has been teasing, and Dixie attempting to fight to regain her stroke inside her own company. That seems to be logical and it is also true that the Lethal Lockdown match at Lockdown historically belongs to the babyface squads.

The real question for now though, is team make-up...

We know straight from MVP's mouth that his second and third are Davey and Eddie. So who's his number four?

Last night's Impact seemed to rule out a lot of likely contenders.

Obviously we know Joe and Magnus aren't options for either team. I think that last night's tease with MVP proposing the spot to Aries, and A-double not immediately accepting, likely indicates he won't be the guy. It seems that a Shaw/Anderson angle was set in motion and that will likely play out at Lockdown, taking Anderson out of the mix. And while its possible that last night could lead to Gunner being MVP's fourth, with Storm signing on as one of Roode's three choices, I think it is more probable we get Gunner v. Storm by itself taking them both out of a potential slot as well.

That leaves MVP with two other clear options in my eyes. First is a returning Hardy/Willow, and the second is Angle. I know there are talks of Kurt choosing to have surgery and missing the event, but until I see 100% confirmation from TNA or Angle himself, I refuse to believe the man will not wait until atleast after Lockdown to have any procedure that will keep him out of the ring. Angle is too synonymous with the event to just sit it out.

If Angle does work the event, I would anticipate he'll have a high-profile one-on-one match, as has been his history at Lockdown. I would expect that match to be Angle v. ECIII, playing off Carter's claims to have "ended the Olympic gold medalist's career". That leaves Hardy in my eyes as the likely fourth for Team MVP.

Not knowing any of the other members of Team Dixie besides Bobby, her reluctant captain, make it harder to gauge.

Even though many will disagree, just as MVP's encounter with Aries last night leads me to believe that Aries won't join the faces, Roode's interaction with Kaz and Daniels and their subsequent failure to take out The Wolves, leads me to believe that Team Dixie won't include an Ego-reunion either. I think that instead Bad Influence will help to fill out the undercard(a match against Muta/Sanada possibly?). Also, as I stated, I don't think that Ethan will be an option for his Auntie's side, as I think he'll be left to prove himself against Angle. I also don't think we can be lead to believe that we can take Spud serious as a member either. There's no way Dixie and Bobby's characters could be comfortable with that perceived disadvantage.

So who is Team Dixie then? It sounds crazy, but as of right now I'd predict that Roode's side will be made up of the trio of the Bro-Mans and DJ Zema. The Bro-Mans are the tag champs and with The Wolves in the Lethal Lockdown match I don't see a different face team being built up in time to challenge them for those belts by Lockdown, making them the perfect second and third for Team Dixie. It's Zema I question most amongst all of these predictions. But I also don't see anyone who can logically be called likely just based off what we know right now. Bully, who was not present this week after his placement in the casket, could be a wildcard considering that Anderson has likely moved on. I don't see Abyss as an option, as I think they have a seperate plan for his return, likely with a manager or partner based on the obvious context clues from his departure promo. Perhaps the most interesting wild card could actually be Aries. We know Aries turns on a dime, has no apparent loyalties, has a history teaming along side Roode, and much like Bobby he could be "bought" by Dixie, leading him to choose her side over MVP's offer to join him. In fact that could be the most likely scenario after last night's MVP/Aries tease segment.

So using everything we know (including factoring in my assumptions that Angle, Carter, Storm, and Gunner will be in two separate single's matches) I'd predict it will be Team MVP, consisting of the man himself captaining a squad that includes Hardy and The Wolves, versus Team Dixie, consisting of captain Bobby Roode, The Bro-Mans, and a fourth member that comes from the group of Zema, Aries, Bully, or even Spud- who I've listed in the order of their likelihood.

I'm going with Team MVP for the win here. Right now anyone that could be on Team Dixie has some kind of issue with her or Magnus, especially EC3. Yet Roode seems to be selective of who he wants on the team. I doubt it's gonna be Bad Influence. Now with James Storm turning heel last night that could give a slight advantage if Roode reaches out to him. But let's see who else goes to which team.

(long time lurker, first time poster here)
I think that if they want MVP to keep his momentum and establish his role in TNA, his team NEEDS to win. period.

I'll echo the Wolves and Willow being the likely members of MVP's team. As for Roode, I think it'll likely be the BroMans (w/o Zema), and EC3. The wolves and the BroMans are inevitably gonna feud over the tag team belts, and I can see EC3 being put into the match by dixie as "insurance"....which, given his tendency for funny business even when told not to, could result in Roode beginning to make good on his threat at the end of his promo on thursday, possibly turning face.

That's my guess anyway.

Have you ever seen a TNA Lockdown Pay Per View before? If not go check the results of the past ones. The good guys ALWAYS win. That's the problem with TNA. Their formula. Every year now we get some big storyline where you know it will culminate in a big 4 on 4 match inside the cage. Whether it's Fortune, Team Hogan, Team Cage or even Team Garrett, the good guys always win. I was wondering what was gonna happen this year. Now I see that we got a Team MVP to save us all.

The big payoff here is "MVP is going to make life a living hell for Dixie Carter and her gang."

I don't really like either team winning to be honest.

MVP. lol.

I Think The Wildcard In This Whole Thing Is Bobby Roode Himself. Team MVP All The Way. This Is The Start Of A Bobby Roode Face turn

Aries' loss to Sanada has me thinking he's gotta be MVP's "mystery" team member for this match. With the Wolves feuding with the Bro Mans right now over the tag titles, Roode and MVP clashing and Aries introduced to the story last week, it makes a ton of sense to bring in Sanada into MVP's "strong style" initiative he's been running.

That would be possible if he wasn't already in this match:

It would indeed make sense for the reasons you had already explained but I think you're forgetting about Manik and Willow. Both are high-flyers, one of them never got his rematch for the X-Division title belt and the other was driven out of the company by Dixie Carter and also had a feud with Austin Aries in 2012 and 2013. The biggest give-away is that it was announced both of them will be making a return at the PPV.

As for Senada, he's either staying in the company meaning his reign may last a little longer or he'll lose his title a little while after Lockdown. Slammiversary or the Sacrifice TV special perhaps. Aries and Manik are pretty much entitled to a rematch and it's not confirmed if the Wrestle-1 talent will be staying in TNA for long, so I would assume he would lose it not long after Lockdown.
