Little Nog's next fight.

Fizzy

Mid-Card Championship Winner
Simple question. Who should little Nog's next opponent be? After his domination of Cane at 106 it looks as if Nog's here to kick some fucking ass and boy am I excited. Depending on the winner of Rashad vs Thiago I think the winner of that would be a good candidate for him to fight, and if he won he'd really make himself known as a top contender for the title. Another fight which I think should most definitely be next is Forrest Griffen. Since Forrest won I think he would be a great opponent against Lil Nog. It'd be a huge slugfest, and i'd love to see if Nog can knock him out. What do you guys think?

Right now it's rumored that his next opponent is Forrest Griffin... yeah, I do not want to see that.

If it were up to me, he'd face the winner of the Matt Hamill/Jon Jones fight that takes place at The Ultimate Fighter Season 10 Finale, if the winner goes unarmed. Both Hamill and Jones are up and coming fighters in the Light Heavyweight Division, and that's the same that could be said for Lil' Nog. Right now, there is no opponent set in line to get a shot at the Light Heavyweight Championship after Shogun and Machida fights again, because the top guys in the division have all been a bit inconsistent lately. However, Lil' Nog, Jon Jones, and Matt Hamill have all been on impressive streaks lately, and with the way Lil' Nog destroyed Luiz Cane (a very, very talented fighter), I think all he needs to be worthy of a title shot is a win over another top opponent, which the winner of Hamill/Jones would be. And if Hamill or Jones defeated Lil' Nog, then they most definitely would deserve a shot at the title as well.

To me, it's the best, most logical scenario.

I wouldn't mind seeing him fight any of the men that have been named so far. He could have an exciting fight with any of the three. But the man I would personally like to see him fight next would have to be Keith Jardine. Yes, Lil Nog is coming off of a very nice KO victory over Cane but if you want to give him a true punching test without throwing him against some top contenders then Jardine is your man. Of course, as long as it is the good fighting Jardine and not the weak chin one. When Jardine goes to war with someone then he brings out the very best of them or can show them as the imposter that they may me. Let Lil Nog take one punch to the face from Jardine and we will see if he is a legit contender for the title or not and if he wins then he can boast that he beat one of the best punchers in the division. I say Lil Nog versus Keith Jardine should be the next fight.

Realistically it should be Griffen I suppose, Lil Nog is a top contender and should be treated as such with big name fights. I think Brandon Vera would be a good choice though, even if he is coming off of a loss to Randy Couture he still looked good in that fight, and his stand up was pretty damn good too, only problem he had was he was facing Randy Couture, a wrestler who can take a good bit of punishment and keep going, it took a tough, tough man to stay up after those body kicks. Some people even think Vera won the fight, so the loss wasn't a bad one. I think he would be a great fight for Lil Nog, even though I think Nog would win and can KO him it would still be a good one to watch, and him having a win over Vera would look good on his record too.

For those who haven't heard, Lil' Nog will be facing Brandon Vera at UFC 109.

I think this match-up, more than anything, is a test for Lil' Nog to see if he's the real deal. Brandon Vera is nowhere near the top talent in the Light Heavyweight Division, but fights are all about match-ups, and I think when you look at it... Brandon Vera is perhaps the worst possible match-up for Lil' Nog, stylistically. Brandon's much taller, has the much longer reach, and is a true Muay Thai expert who knows how to use EVERYTHING on the feet, not just his hands. Lil' Nog's not used to fighting someone like that, so if he wins this in impressive fashion, there's no doubt he should be in consideration for the next top contender spot for the LHW Title after Machida/Shogun 2 goes down.

Yeah, I think Brandon Vera is a great matchup for Lil Nog to test him and find out if he is the real deal or not. Of course I expect him to win this fight but it should be a little more competitive then his fight against Cane.

Vera is a tested fighter throughout his UFC career and he is a great choice by the UFC to test a guy like Lil Nog to see if he deserves to be at the top or not. Look at it, Vera has fought guys like Tim Sylvia and Randy Couture, true legends of the Heavyweight division and has even looked good against Couture. It really is not that big of a stretch that Vera could take it to Nog and push him to the limit. Plus, Vera's muy tai skills are awesome and we can see how Nog fairs against some more skills before he goes after the Karate Kid.

I'll give it up to Joe Silva, this is one hell of a match to put together.
