Lets Talk About How Awesome That DDP/Savage Feud Was, Eh!

Warrior's death made me rewatch his match against Savage and then made me think when Savage's last great matches were. I then remembered his series with DDP. Long since forgotten but that feud made DDP from a opening act nobody into a headline talent. No small feat when you consider who WCW had above him on the roster at the time.

I would post matches but I'm not going to find some gold and then just give it to you, am I!

This feud made me respect Savage so much. I believe the first match he had with DDP, DDP was just beginning to make a serious push up the rankings and Savage put him over cleanly with the Diamond Cutter. He single handedly made DDP into a legitimate main event player.
Dat cage match though.

Considering Savage was broken down at that point and had the knees of an 80 year old, he did everything in his power to get DDP over. It was refreshing that a WCW old timer actually put forth some effort.

Their No Falls Count Anywhere match at The Great American Bash was terrific.

The fact that these two managed to main event two WCW Pay-Per-Views at a time when neither were World Champion and WCW, the nWo and Hollywood Hogan were at their peak popularity wise, tells you all you need to know how good that feud must have been.

Great feud and almost Attitudesqe. Had WCW continued logical storylines in this vein, Vince's squad of midcarders might never have overcome the odds.

One of my favourite feuds of all time. This is how you make a star.

I loved them tying each other in singles and tag team matches until the feud ender at Halloween Havoc.

I always enjoy reading that story about how WCW originally booked Savage to go over DDP at Spring Stampede, but Savage said "he wanted to take a Diamond Cutter tonight", changing it to DDP going over.

And who can forget this...

I still wish WcW was around to this very day. I wonder what'd it be like if WcW did beat out WWF/E.

Great match, epic feud awesome battles and makes us wrestling fans look back and enjoy some great wrestling moments. OOOOHHHHH YYYEEEEAAAHHHHH!

I was at the mark of the quad in illinois for their wonderful bash match, prolly the best match I have seen live, and I have seen quite a few. Flair, piper, the outsiders were all pretty much an afterthought after this one.

The spring stampede match and the Great American Bash match were both abo****ely the shit, as well as the summation of the fued at Halloween Havoc of that year. great, great, GREAT feud.

Hell yeah, my favorite of 1997. Finally made DDP legit and is still his best feud. Then that segued into the amazing feud with Raven and the Flock and Benoit.

I remember being so pissed at how DDP was buried when he came to the WWF. I was like, 12 years old and even then I knew they were burying him and totally ruining his chances of being anything in the WWF, when he could have been an awesome main eventer. DDP, as hard to believe as it is now, was fuckin' cool back then and had a big following. To this day I have no idea why Vince was just like "Fuck this guy, job him out to Undertaker's wife please". Even Kanyon got buried just by being within proximity of the feud. I wonder if Vince just didn't like him.

The Falls Count Anywhere and Las Vegas Death Match's are both fucking awesomesauce. That feud is also memorable because Savage showed he still had it at a time when his aging main event peers were beginning to rapidly disintegrate in the workrate department. Savage proved he was still a badass and was massively over. What a great feud that was, one of the few WCW booked perfectly.

Now I just want to watch all of 97 over again. As I have done three other time. Oh, hai, WWE Network.

WWE Network is awesome.

God damn I wish I had it. I mean, I probably fucking have most of the content they have on there, but it's all on burned DVDs and I'm terrible at organisation so they're all over the place. I'd love to have it just for the ease and convenience of it, the same reason I loved having WWE 24/7 for awhile.

I wish they would go balls to the wall and add ALL of their archive footage though. All those old territories and shit. So much classic stuff a lot of fans have probably never seen just waiting to be discovered.

If only I, you know, had some kind of system that carried the WWE network. But alas, my Atari 2600 doesn't carry it. :(

And '97 was a great year. '97-01 is my favorite period of wrestling and always will be.

Well duh there's the computer but if I'm going to use my computer then I'll just take the extra two seconds of effort and get all of that footage and more absolutely free.

I just want the convenience of being able to like turn on the TV and have it as a regular old channel.

Buy a Roku when they go on sale for $40. The network is awesome and they're adding content all of the time.
