Let's Play Two (MLB)

So I am watching a sports talkshow on the local sports network a few days ago, and the topic they were talking about was baseball, and maybe some rule changes or tweaks in the schedule. The one thing that stood out to me in the conversation was the idea of playing a doubleheader at least once every month of the season, not including playoffs of course. With the way the schedule is now, playing into November when in some places it is balls cold, with chances of snow is ridiculous. I love baseball but it is a summer fucking sport, I don't want snow to be on the field.

I would love it if there were a doubleheader every month from every team. It is fun to see some of the bench players get to play, and how the teams can prepare for the second game. Plus as fans, maybe they could sell tickets at a price that is somewhere in the range of a discount for two separate games, but because you are already at the park and what not, it makes sense. There are a bunch of reasons, but it would be cool to see.

So what do you think? Would you enjoy seeing a doubleheader at least once every month?

Don't we already get one a month? With all the rain outs in March and April, I'm pretty sure we get double headers just about every week once May hits.

Here's the huge problem with it...If you're scheduling double-headers in April and May, you're going to get a lot of rain outs, and then look at how many games you have to reschedule then. Instead of getting 5 games in November, you're going to get 15-20.

I absolutely love doubleheaders. Especially on the weekends. Nothing like kicking back and watching some daytime baseball and then watching the same teams duke it out in the evening.

But like NSL said, we get the unscheduled doubleheaders once a month or so. And if you schedule one and it is PPD, then that could create some more scheduling problems. I'd love to see more doubleheaders, but I just see it as highly unlikely unless the weather forces the doubleheaders to happen. Great idea on paper though and I wouldn't complain if they went through with it.

I have to agree with NSL here, What would happen if one of those doubleheaders is rained out? You're pretty much screwed for a while. Also, The chance of injury are greatened. With about 3 or 4 hours between each game, the bodies of the athletes dont have much time to recover. Now I love doubleheaders, but I like them more when they're once every couple months. Also, if they have to cancel a game in November due to snow, so what? Football players play in the snow, nothing happens to them. It's all part of the game
