Sigmund Freud On Ritalin And Roids
The next feud I will analyze is the HHH/HBK feud from 2002-2004. It started at Vengeance 2002 when HHH chose to go to RAW instead of Smackdown primarily because of HBK. On RAW one night, HHH give HBK a pedigree during their DX reunion and they began feuding after that. HBK would win their first match at Summerslam but HHH would be the one walking out while HHH was wheeled out on a stretcher.
HBK returned at Survivor Series to win the World Heavyweight Championship in the Elimination Chamber but would lose it to HHH in a Three Stages of Hell match at Armageddon. They would fight at Royal Rumble 2004 and would end their feud in Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood 2004.
This has been hailed as one of the best feuds in WWE history but I feel that it is overrated for the following reasons:
1. None of their matches seemed to have the intensity and the passion that their Summerslam match did. They both played off each other perfectly and the rest of the matches didn't seem to have that feel.
2. In one-on-one matches, HHH held a 3-1-1 advantage (Even though it wasn't part of their feud, I counted Taboo Tuesday 2004 in which HHH won). They cost each other chances at titles along the way but it always felt like HHH was the dominant one during their feud.
3. The end of their feud wasn't an all-time great ending like HHH/Austin in 2001 was. Their Hell In A Cell match was too long and boring for the most part. If they would have taken 10-15 minutes off of that match, then I think it would be one of the greatest of all time.
So what are your opinions on the HHH/HBK feud? Do you feel that it is underrated, rated correctly, or overrated and state your reasons?
