Kobe Bryant INJURED

It's...Baylariat!

Team Finnley Baylor
Lakers PR department says Kobe Bryant possibly tore his Achilles tendon tonight in a win over the Golden State Warriors. Most of our international folks know NBA hoops, and anyone who watches Sportscenter knows who he is, too.

I'm a huge fan of Kobe and it made me nauseous to see that update on my Twitter feed. Thoughts?

The way guys are returning from injuries these days and with Kobe being the competitor he is, I expect him to be good for the playoffs should they make it.

I've been a Lakers fan since I was a kid, which is weird being from Pittsburgh. They've been on a fairly nice roll and a Lakers team in the playoffs with Kobe would have been a dangerous one against either San Antonio or OKC, but they're done now without Kobe.

Tough break, but somewhat fitting in what's been an extremely disapointing season for the Lakers.

With a torn achilles and only two regular season games left? I don't care what kind of gamer he is, he's not going to return in 7-10 days from a torn achilles to play in the playoffs. Especially since doing so, and injuring it worse, could end his career.

The Lakers will likely be the 8 seed, and a hobbling Kobe wouldn't be enough to get them past OKC or San Antonio. Why risk it? If it is torn, he'll likely be on a surgeon's table early next week.

Yeah, I wasn't being facetious or anything.

Anyway, I just watched the highlights. It's as if Kobe tempted fate. First he banged knees midair, sat wincing for a moment and drove on. Then he landed a little awkwardly, came up limping, but drove on. Finally, on the most innocuous looking incident of the three, he drives the lane and tears his Achilles.

Sucks for the Mamba. Should be a boon to German stem cell injection therapists, though. Feel free to take that literally as well.

Sad day for basketball. Kobe could miss large parts of next year, and even before that on March 30th he said next year maybe his last. How much time he misses depends on how severe the injury is, lets hope it's not too bad and he will come back. Either way, he was one the greatest of all time and a sure fire HOF. IMO, second only to MJ in terms of shooting guards at least and maybe if all time.

Kobe has put LA on his back all year and has turned back time at points. He has the heart of a champion and will keep going as long as he has an ounce of fight in him.

Kobe Bryant said:
This is such BS! All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I've done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage. Why the hell did this happen ?!? Makes no damn sense. Now I'm supposed to come back from this and be the same player Or better at 35?!? How in the world am I supposed to do that??
I have NO CLUE. Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that
was. Maybe this is how my book
ends. Maybe Father Time has defeated me...Then again maybe not! It's 3:30am, my foot feels like dead weight, my head is spinning from the pain meds and I'm wide awake. Forgive my Venting but what's the purpose of social media if I won't bring it to you Real No Image?? Feels good to vent, let it out. To feel as if THIS is the WORST thing EVER! Because After ALL the venting, a real perspective sets in. There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.
One day, the beginning of a new career journey will commence. Today is NOT that day.
"If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear". Ive always loved that quote. Thats "mamba mentality" we don't quit, we don't cower, we don't run. We endure and conquer.
I know it's a long post but I'm Facebook Venting LOL. Maybe now I can actually get some sleep and be excited for surgery tomorrow. First step of a new challenge.
Guess I will be Coach Vino the rest of this season. I have faith in my teammates. They will come thru.
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Much Love Always.
Mamba Out

He sounds like he's gonna come back. Granted this was at 4AM Pacific and he's hopped up on pain meds. Either way, the NBA needs Kobe Bryant, so hopefully he comes back next year.

This kinda dashes playoff hopes for the Lakers. It's up to Gasol to take the reigns and handle their business. The Clips look good, but idk if they can make it past the second round. Hope Kobe can bounce back and be ready for January.

There's a certain "Superman" on this team. He's a Multi-Time All Star who has single-handedly taken his team to the finals and needs to do something to make teams want to give him more money. Sure he's not what he once was, but trying to maximize his next contract could be enough motivation to break out old-school Dwight Howard for a month or so.

Maybe he'll return from his achilles tendon injury without any notice FAR earlier than anticipated:

Lets see.....No. The Lakers have little talent right now that is healthy and Howard doesn't need to play his heart out, he will get max regardless.

I highly doubt that. He's been hurt for 2 years and he ruined his reputation with his shitty attitude (and sub-par play).

No doubt he'll get a new contract (and a pretty good one at that), but he's not getting a max contract, unless he either gets a clean bill of health or plays his ass off. And I doubt he'll get a clean bill of health.

Oh, and this team is better then the Magic were with Howard when they made the finals.

I meant as taking the reigns as team captain in the interim. It wasn't a disregard to Howard. But the main players are banged up. They need a strong leader to at least get to the second round. It's not impossible they can make a push, but it will be loads tougher without Kobe being the floor general.

Dwight Howard is getting a max deal guaranteed. The Lakers are going to offer him one and if he doesn't want to stay in LA there will be multiple other teams (Dallas, Atlanta) who will be offering him one as well. Guys like Joe Johnson and Rashard Lewis have gotten max deals, obviously Howard is going to get one.

Without Kobe? No. Even with Kobe that Orlando team had two things this Lakers team doesn't: Chemistry and depth.

I am still shocked they won the last two games and got the 7th seed. Nice to see Pau finally show up for once.
