The Rumors Have Also Said That Whom Ever Wins Gets A Title Shot ...

I Wouldnt Mind It If ...

Was The Heats On The 2 Weeks Prior ...

With The Last 8, Semis , Final

But With It Being Raw Semi And Last 8 And The Same For The Heats ...
And Vice Versea

With The Divas Tournament On The Night ..

Divas : Natalya Vs Trish Stauts ... TRISH WINS !
Men : John Cena Vs Orton ..... ORTON WINS !

Daniel Bryan. He's pretty much the most generic looking wrestler in WWE right but generic looking wrestlers are the ones that are most fit for the King Of The Ring. Just look at William Regal, Sheamus and pretty much most of the past KOTR winners. They were all generic looking but they were really talented and Daniel is a talented technician plus lately King Of The Ring have gone to patriotic wrestlers e.g Sheamus, Regal, well Daniel could be patriotic and has the look of one if WWE would push him as one. Either Daniel Bryan or probable Jack Swagger but I would go with Daniel Bryan. Would do major wonders for his career.

I would love for them to bring back the PPV it was always one of my favs! I also believe that D Bryan would be well suited to win bcuz hes the best wrestler they have and he can use that for his 'persona' I would like to see another up and comer win as well..u cant have an established superstar win bcuz they dont need it..so someone like kofi or cody rhodes or ziggler would be a good choice..but i like danial bryan too

Sheamus is not generic looking.

Daniel Bryan would definitely be a candidate to win if this takes place, but I'd lean more toward someone like Cody Rhodes or Jack Swagger. Gotta keep the tradition of giving it to the up-and-comers and possibly future main eventers. I also hate how they incorporate the "king" gimmick into the winner like they did with Regal and Sheamus recently.

I have to agree with you, Daniel Bryan for me. For the same reasons and not only that, but because he needs to mean something to the WWE again, like he did with his Miz feud.

The old King of the Ring days were cool, with an actual bracket and tournament. You could see your fav wrerstler, have like 4 or 5 matches on the one pay per view as he advanced. Bring it back I say. Id pay to see that.

Where are these rumors?
I haven't read anything about KOTR returning to PPV, thou I heard it was returning in 2-3 weeks time on one of the 3 hour raw specials we have coming up.

Cool news if it returns, I always enjoyed the show, plus it's different too the stand PPV's we get shoved down our throats.

For Smackdown!, I'd go with Sheamus, Mark Henry, Alex Riley and Wade Barrett.

For Raw, I'd go with John Morrison, R Truth, Rey Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler.

I'd have the winners of each side face one another on the PPV. I'd have Ziggler and Riley come out for their sides and would probably have Riley come out on top. Both have a potential future with the company and the face (it seems Riley might be just that) would have a better chance using the KOTR tournament as a launching pad. Usually, when a heel wins, they go with the power-hungry King idea and that helps no one.

Still, I can see Riley actually making it work and carving out his own niche.

For the winner, I'd have Natalya win and really get on a role. Then, when Kharma returns, it makes it look like two unstoppable forces going at it. Might take a while, but it might make sense and be worth it.

Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler or R-Truth, those 3 would need it most to make them more believable

I would really enjoying seeing it return as a ppv tournament. Four guys from each show competing would be exciting. I think that Rhodes should win it for sure. He is arguable the best heel on smackdown right now. he can get the whole arena hating him, and he has been on a huge roll lately. for the divas, i would give it to melina. she has fallen out of the spot light, and she is pretty good in the ring.

KOTR was my favourite PPV in the mid-90's (followed by Survivor Series). A return would be really great to see.

I'd like to see Drew McIntyre win. Creative hasn't done anything with him. Giving him a run as a king would give him some much needed momentum.

i could never understand why they did away w/ it or minimized it has they have in recent yrs. ROTR was a natural, awesome event. it was an unique ppv w/ its tourney style format that unofficially gave u the #1 contender at Summerslam. much like the Royal Rumble gave u the WM #1 contender. As for the question id love to see Morrison win, but i think it doesnt work within the timetable for his comeback. so my 2nd choice is Christian, following in Edge's footsteps, and will further his feud w/ orton.(in which Christian will eventually turn heel) Although Cody Rhodes would be an excellent pick here as well, and well deserved. he's really coming into his own as a hot young heel.

If they do another King of the Ring, ppv or not, it has to be a midcarder or upper midcarder than can use it to their advantage. Things change all the time, but if I were to say right now who I would want to be given the KOTR push, it would be one of these candidates (in no particular order):

1. ALEX RILEY - I don't think he necessarily needs it, though. He's someone that can get over on his own.

2. ALBERTO DEL RIO - There are only two reasons why I wouldn't give it to him, and those are that he doesn't necessarily need it and that his gimmick already kind of incorporates a lot of the same elements to it, so it would be a bit redundant. However, he matches up better and more realistically than if they gave it to an Evan Bourne or something.

3. DOLPH ZIGGLER - Prime candidate. He'd excel so well as King of the Ring.

4. DREW MCINTYRE - A bit redundant if they pull out the Chosen One thing again, but still a potential.

5. JACK SWAGGER - I still maintain that he should get a push by turning face instead.

6. JOHN MORRISON - KOTR could be the thing that pushes him officially into the main event.

7. KOFI KINGSTON - I actually think as ridiculous as "King Kingston" sounds, the idea of Kofi being King of the Ring could lead to a potential heel turn that I'd be interested in seeing.

8. CODY RHODES - Great talent, right level of the hierarchy that he can use a KOTR victory to add to his credentials and boost his status.

9. DANIEL BRYAN - This would be really, really hard to pull off, as he's not charismatic enough to use it as a heel turn and he doesn't seem to be in the position to get the upper midcard / lower main event status, so the push probably in retrospect wouldn't do much, however, as stated above, he's better served at winning this than some others.

10. WADE BARRETT - I wouldn't want to see the royal gimmick on him, but I think Wade being KOTR could be done well.

A KOTR PPV won't work unless you only have 3 matches from the tournament on it.

Look at just about all the past PPVs with that tournament in it, how long were those matches? How many of them were honestly good?

that unofficially gave u the #1 contender at Summerslam.

The only tournaments that had that were the 94, 95, and 02 tournaments. ALL the rest didn't do it.

Why do people keep saying that?

I for sure wouldn't buy this PPV if it had 7 tournament matches, plus other ones.

I am also sick of the King gimmick.

I would love for this to return as a ppv. I believe I suggested this happen in another thread not too long ago. Oh wait that's right... I did!

January: Royal rumble
February: No Way Out (Elimination Chamber is a stupid name for an event)
March: Wrestlemania
April: Backlash
May: Over The Limit
June: Night of Champions
July: Capitol Punishment
August: SummerSlam
September: Vengeance
October: King of the Ring
November: Survivor Series
December: December to Dismember

The four staple PPV's remain, obviously. No Way Out holds the same concept as Elimination Chamber, just with a different name. Backlash replaces Extreme Rules because the name suited the event so well. 'It's the PPV after Wrestlemania, so who will face the Backlash?' It works(ed). Plus, I hate naming shows after match names. It's so unoriginal, plus it sounds really weird. Just imagine hearing someone like, say, John Cena saying, "At Tables, Ladders and Chairs, I will win the WWE Title." I hate it, doesn't work for me. Over the Limit in May works. I like the concept of it, just off the cuff, Over The Limit. It keeps Judgment Day fresh. I like having Capitol Punishment, but why not move it to 4th of July weekend instead of in June? In June, you can have Night of Champions, which was a cool concept itself. September, you have the already confirmed Vengeance, which works like a Backlash for SummerSlam. October is when things get fun. You have the King of the Ring tournament made into a PPV event, just like how it used to be. This time, we move it to October to coincide with November's Survivor Series. The winner of the KOTR in October gets the trophy and gets a title shot at Survivor Series, which will add to the excitement of a PPV that over the past couple years is said to have lost its luster. And in December, you have December to Dismember, which works like an Armageddon/TLC mix. You can still have the yearly TLC Match, as well as the other matches that are customary for TLC, but you have an original name to go with it. I think this lineup would be sweet, and really give the superstars the opportunity to put on the best show possible.

I don't know if I would make it span the entire PPV. What I would do is make it as big as possible. I'd make it 32, however, I do not think that the WWE have enough stars that people would want to care about for all 5 rounds of the tournament. So I'd make it a 16 man tournament, with some qualifying matches thrown in to promote the tournament. Here's who I would include (assuming Cena and Orton are the champions (With 1st and 2nd Round Match-Ups)):

Raw: The Miz vs Kofi Kingston, Alberto Del Rio vs Big Show, Rey Mysterio vs Dolph Ziggler, Alex Riley vs R-Truth

The Miz vs Alex Riley, Alberto Del Rio vs Rey Mysterio

Smackdown: Daniel Bryan vs William Regal, Christian vs Cody Rhodes, Sheamus vs Sin Cara, Wade Barrett vs Kane

Christian vs Wade Barrett, Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan

I'd put the final four on PPV. I'd also use the early round match-ups to give people what they want, as well as what they haven't seen before. The final? Christian vs Del Rio, with Del Rio winning it all, cementing his status as a king. I'd book the rest of the show like a normal PPV, with title matches, feuds, etc. Sure would be a hell of a show...

Wade Barrett would be my pick

the Corre needs credibility. Nexus has cred in Punk, everyone else lacks it but they got something. Corre really has nobody, even if Barrett has the IC strap. King of the Ring would move him up in the ranks and he could compete in the title scene. this would give the Corre the last chance to actually be a top player in WWE and would give Barrett a nice push he never really got while WWE had him jobbing to Cena

Death Clutch , I Also Heard That Rumor Altough I Got Told It Might Be Back Ethier This Year Or Next ?

Sorry 4-real Am Only New To The Forum .....

To be honest with you, I've neither read it on WZ nor Nodq who pretty much give you the lowdown on what is currently going on, now I'm not at all surprised this rumor has circulated as WWE have been swapping and changing PPV names and concepts lately for the end of the year but the reason KOTR was taken off of PPV was due to it not being a seller. Personally I've watched every KOTR since 1994 (I've watched 93' on dvd) and as much as I loved the 94 Tournament, 93 had the best layout, the matches were longer and the crop of guys in the tournament were pretty intense, the Semi Final (Hart/Perfect) was insane and if WWE could create magic like that then sure bring it back, but not for 7 matches with an hour being giving to the whole tournament (like 2000) after all it is KING OF THE RING.

Also if it does return to PPV, then for the first year to generate interest WWE might want too use main eventers in the tournament,

It Was Just On Latest Results When I Typed In On Google WWE PPV RUMORS.

It Was Few Weeks Ago Though ...

I Just Hope We See A Good Buy Rate ... Cause I Think It Is WWE History ....

Yeah, I'm cool with it returning, it always been one of the PPV's I generally looked forward to seeing even in hindsight some of the tournaments were weak but you naturally couldn't wait to see who was crowned King of the Ring.

I would definitely be glad to see it return as I am like some of you who never appreciated that it went away. I for one preferred it when you saw wrestlers compete in three matches in one night though as opposed to having all of the matches scattered throughout TV programming and having the finals on PPV and/or RAW.

Also, for my money the best Kings have always been heels ie- The Macho King, Harley Race, Kurt Angle if I'm not mistaken was a heel, Steve Austin, Owen Hart, Booker T was pretty appealing at first and William Regal had a lot of promise as King before he was suspended in '08.

That being said I'd put my money on someone with a cocky heel persona ie- Dolph Ziggler, Alberto del Rio, or possibly Cody Rhodes or Jack Swagger, but preferrably Dolph Ziggler. Another plus in past years is to have someone foil the cocky heel. Someone who's a promising face like a Christian or Daniel Bryan would be a great choice. Someone the fans will rally behind as the sure-thing to win. I think Ziggler has the chops to go for three matches in one night and still be able to put on a main-event calliber match at the end, ie- Owen Hart in '94.

IMO - The King of the Ring should be used to PUSH a career, and would mean nothing to somebody like Orton or Cena...

So, call me crazy, but my pick would be TYLER REKS.

This dude is a beast, would look straight out of ancient times with the crown, and his in ring work is snug and awesome. I really hate how all of a sudden we're not seeing him at all. Such a waste.

Plus, WWE needs a monster heel. HE fits the mold great.

I'm still laughing at the fact that somebody called Sheamus generic, that's the funniest thing i've read on this forum for quite a while i'll admit

But back on topic I still think King of the Ring can still do well as it's own PPV in the WWE, you can still have your 7 KOTR matches starting from the quater-finals and your 2 world championship matches so that way we would preety much have 3 main events

With the current roster I think the Tournament brackets will look like this

Quater-Finals
Ezkial Jackson VS Wade Barrett
Kofi Kingston VS Dolph Ziggler
Daniel Bryan VS Cody Rhodes
Evan Bourne VS Alberto Del Rio

Semi-Finals
Daniel Bryan VS Alberto Del Rio
Kofi Kingston VS Wade Barrett

Final
Daniel Bryan VS Wade Barrett

I think Barrett WWE run has been a running out of steam recently even though he his the Intercontinental champion but he has gone from Main Eventing Survivor Series, Firing John Cena, to then Loseing to John Cena, being kicked out of Nexus, moved to Smackdown, started a new stable, now the stable is disintergrating and I think him winning KOTR will really get carreer
back on the track it deserves to be on
