King of The Ring was better, for several different reasons. It didn't guarantee the winner anything, but essentially was a jumping off point for the next main eventers.
Don't get me wrong, I love MITB as well, in fact the ladder match is my favorite stipulation match. But I prefer one on one ladder matches, much more.
But the KOTR was a great story starter and helped to solidify many great stars, not just the winners, but some of the losers as well. Bam Bam, Razor, Savio Vega, etc etc.
I think the KOTR was one of the best events next to the Royal Rumble. It was a way for wrestlers to showcase different styles against different types of wrestlers.
I think it wasn't done properly and effectively every year and suffered greatly for it.
95 was lame, 96 started the 2 match KOTR which I hated. It should've stayed at 3 per ppv night. They came back to that when Mr. Ass won, which should've never happened. They should've had Shamrock win again. They did it when Angle won it all, which was great. But then they abandoned it for again for the 2 match KOTR's. Then they dropped the ppv altogether. Which was ridiculous, because KOTR has most of my favorite overall ppvs.
KOTR 93, 94, 96, 98, 00, 01, 02.
95, 97 & 99 all sucked big time, but all the others were great. I liked who won in 97 (trips), but all the matches were terrible. I mean c'mon.....Faarooq vs. The undertaker? please, what a joke.
And now they are just picking undeserving wrestlers to win the last 2, Booker T & William Regal? Are you kidding? Regal was past his prime and Booker T never had and will never have a prime, he's always been garbage - in-the ring and on the mic.
They need a guy like Dolph Ziggler or John Morrison to win KOTR. They are the types of guys that KOTR was meant for.
