Keep Your Words Short And SWEET....

TJ Matics

It was never the same.
In the WWE we fans, or experts as some of you like to call yourselves, tend to snap judge charaters and situations on a daily basis. Sometimes we're right, most times we're wrong. Be it we over judged or under judged a situation, there comes a time in every fan's life where she/he has to eat their own words. I'll go first, since I'm the OP and what not :

1. "AJ will not be able to pull off a crazy charater."
I had to eat this line more than once, I, earlier on, didn't feel that AJ had the acting strength to pull off such a character, but I was wrong. Not only did she act well, but she ran with this character and has brought out some of the best in 3 top stars. Luckily I didn't go on a massive rant, because that would have been extremely bitter.

2. "Daniel Bryan will never be a credible charater or champion."
When it first came to Daniel Bryan I was pretty much like Michael Cole w/o the stomache. I hated his look, I hated his theme music, I HATED him with a burning passion. But like they say, you have to care to hate. When he began turning heel I didn't pay that much attention, but I didn't rewind past all of his segments and matches anymore. I'm not quite sure when I stopped rewinding past him for good, or when I considered myself a fan, I just know it happpened. I had to swallow everything I had said about him previously and give the man his props. This was a bitter pill to swallow, but I guess the saying is true, Heels have more fun, or something along those lines.

That's all for now, I'm sure I'll think of some more later, Your Tuuurn

Good thread. Somebody actually admitting to being wrong for once.

I think wrestling fans need to keep an open mind. I was one of those people who couldnt stand DBryan either, but he's turned into a decent character, but he did evolution since his title reign.

1. At the start of CM Punk's push I thought we were seeing the birth of a mega star. I've been wrong so far. Punk has cooled down quite a bit and has had a Macho Man type reign where he's champion, but he's still not the man.

2. I didn't like Sheamus' look at first. I didn't see someone who looked so goofy being taken seriously as a tough guy. I was wrong until the WWE turned him face and proved me right. But I was still wrong about him not being able to get over.

Since last year's Summerslam until the early stages of Wrestlemania season I kept saying "No more Triple H vs The Undertaker, do something else, this match is going to suck". But when Undertaker made his epic return on Raw and challenged Triple H I felt chills in my spine. Chills of excitement and hype. And when I saw the match I thought "This was the best match I have ever seen! Such great storytelling from both of these guys. Wow". There, I had to swallow the words that I've said before.
I thought about Undertaker facing Kane, Orton, Jericho or Lesnar but let's be honest, as it turned out, neither of these opponents would be able to top the Undertaker vs Triple H with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee match inside a Hell In A Cell.

The second thing I said and I had to take back was that Zack Ryder will be a world champion by Wrestlemania 30. Oh yeah, I said it. For some insane reason I started believing in Zack Ryder. I thought he was more than a stupid host of a stupid youtube show. But, as it turned out I was wrong. You see the WWE is evil. Actually it's insidiously smart. The 'E used Zack Ryder's population in order to boost Cena. The trolled Zack Ryder. They told him: "Zack Ryder, in the WWE of 2012, nobody uses a YouTube show to call us stupid and get himself over."

That's for me. :p

This is tough, especially considering that I've only been posting for about a couple of weeks so I have nothing in "ink" to really reflect on, just my thoughts. It's too hard for me to go back anymore than say a year or two because I forget how I felt at the time. For example, I have no idea if I thought "Yeah, John Cena definitely does not have what it takes." I forget how exactly I viewed him at the time.

One thing really stands out to me and that is Sin Cara. I expected him to get over much better than what turned out to be the case. Is he talented and exciting? Sure, but with the many botches and not being able to take part in a decent feud, he has gotten nowhere. That Chavo feud was atrocious in my mind. His suspension set him back from any progress he may have gained, and I only needed to see Sin Cara vs. Hunico once, not the twenty times that we did. If Cara were to leave the WWE today, then I would consider his signing a complete flop; however, as long as he is with the company I will not rule out any potential that he may have to up his status.

I'd have to say I was big time against The Miz. I hated him and saw nothing in his future. I didn't think he was ready for prime time and didn't think he ever would. But he did something that all the young talent needs to do and that is learn and evolve.

In my case, when Cena show up at smackdown for the first time ever agains Kust Angle, i didn't think he was going anywere, i guess i was a little wrong, lol. And another thing i was wrong about was Rey Misterio, as popular as he was in Mexico, i never thought that in a million years he would reach the popularity he has in the WWE, much less the world heavyweight championship belt, not only did he get it, but he got it more than once, and i also thought that Ezekiel Jackson would be a household name by now, i guess i was wrong about that too.......

What a Fantastic thread !

My first one, like you, was Daniel Bryan. I hated him. Not the kayfabe hate. I mean I hated him as him. His entrance, the YES, the galloping, the mic skills. I just thought it was a matter of time before he was a regular on Superstars. When he won the MITB I thought it was going to be worse than the Swagger run. Boy was I wrong. To be honest, the guy is now one of my favorite in the buisness. Boy how times can change. I am now proud to say I am a HUGE Daniel Bryan Fan.

This next one hurts a little because I have made bets in the past. I was a huge beleiver that Chris Masters would be a main eventer in the WWE and a multiple time World Champion. Now, while I beleive he could have done good if given the chance, I was wrong, Masters was released, and I lost a total of 20-30 bucks. Lmao.

Finally, I do not care about this one because this should have happened. During the time where Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston had their amazing fued, I was convinced that Kofi Kingston would be the World champion very soon. I still believe he should be given the chance. But I guess I'm wrong.

There it is. Once again, GREAT THREAD ! :D

I never saw much in Cody Rhodes. When he came in he was a skinny, out of shape (for wrestling), uninteresting son of a wrestler, with a lisp. He was next to solidly build guys like randy orton and ted dibiase. He never struck me as any type of threat.

But he has worked very hard to change his body and his character and i enjoy him on my tv now.

I havnt been owned yet. I gladly admit when im wrong all the time, but i cant think of a single time where i said a wrestler would fail and then he succeeded. And ive bashed tons of wrestlers in the past. I do it all the time.

Im not trying to brag but 99% of them dont succeed so its quite easy to pick out the losers/jobbers, midcarders and main eventers.

Good thread dude! I have to admit, and I might get heat for this, but I was never....never big on EDGE. I didn't like any incarnation of him, until around the Royal Rumble last year when he took on Dolph Ziggler and into his last Wrestlemania match against Alberto Del Rio. It took me 14 years to appreciate EDGE and when I finally showed appreciation, he retired. Now I miss his character...WWE needs a guy like EDGE now.

I used to hate the MIZ character...and I still do! Stay gone MIZ, you over actor portraying a wrestler, stay gone!

Pretty solid thread bro

Yeah we should all admit when we are wrong (maybe even Vince will someday). Here are 2 instances where I have been wrong

1.) Santino is going to make the US title a legitimate title..... Whoops, my bad

2.) Eve and Zack Ryder are a great TV couple... oh it was all a ploy by Eve, boy is my face red.

I have likely been wrong a lot more (and I'm sure I have been) . I will always admit my faults, and it is good to know other fans will as well

Another wrestler that i was wrong about was Sean O'Haire when he came to the WWE, it looked like he had everything to make it, the mic skills, great promos, and of course, he was a phenomenal athlete, a high flyer, wich was strange because he wasn't exactly a cruiserweight, he had every tool posible to be a top star, but somehow he didn't make it, they stuck him with Piper to feud against Zack Gowan and Mr. America ( Hulk Hogan ), and i think that is what killed his career........

1) Zach Ryder will never make it.
Even though he hasn't gotten to far off the ground he still has gotten futher than the US title. But interm Gm is a step forward....I think

2) They can't he having this guy Cena win and fans still love it
I guess certain things are always going to be around we call the "Bandwagon jumpers" or Fairweather fans. I couldn't believe that Cena's Five moves of doom was going to get him anywhere. I was wrong.

The majority of the people I decide I like usually end up doing quite well, even when everyone else seems to hate them. For example from the second Legacy started I always thought that Cody would be the successful out of him and DiBiase. I thought Ziggler would make it, and that Punk would make it from when he arrived in ECW.

Although the ones I have been wrong about were:
1. Jack Swagger - When this guy won MitB I was totally shocked but when he won the title I thought he was going to be great. I did think he was great in the ring but I never thought he would win that MitB. However he flopped and hasn't recovered from it.

2. Drew McIntyre - When this guy burst onto SmackDown! I thought this guy is going to be huge and well..... look at him now :(.

3. Last and probably my biggest mistake was Matt Hardy. For some reason I thought this guy was going to manage to grab a world title, and then he just went no where and fast.

After Wrestlemania 27 I thought The Miz would be the PG Era's The Rock. Now he's shooting The Marine 3, before he was Brodus Clay's Bit*h, before that he was jobbing to the stars.

I also thought Ted Dibiase would be the one to make it out of Legacy.

I also thought Drew Mcintyre would be a world champion by now.

Going off what a few of you have said :

1. "Jack Swagger is going to be a great champion." - I used to love this guy, I just knew that when he won the world title his character could only grow and develop, since he was already a top wrestler. But they went way left with Swagger after he won his title. I know it's not "right" to put full blame on creative, but they turned this man's character upside down. Soaring Eagle - that is all.

2."Sheamus needs a tan." - I brought him as a monster heel just fine, I just wanted him to get a tan, and didn't understand for the life of me why he wouldn't get one. I think I would about die if he got a tan now.

3. "Santino Marella is a waste of space." - I hated this man, I hated his debut, I hated his storyline with Maria and I wished that he would just LEAVE. Typing all of this now seems almost silly, since I know he's one of the most Over superstars today

Thanks For All of the Positive Comments !

.Umaga- I thought he would have been world champion and just dominated everyone sadly that never came true and sadly he's passed away.

Shelton Benjamin- After he beat y2j for IC title at taboo Tuesday i thought he was going to be massive a multi-time world champion i even had myself believing he would win one of the few Money in the bank matches he was in again that never came true and he went on to be released.

This is a great thread. For the recent faux pas...

"John Cena is going to turn heel, and Chrish Jericho will be the one to trigger it." I had it all mapped in my head. "Cena sucks, Cena sucks" blah blah blah. Out comes Jericho for the return. "Don't listen to these hypocrites, John. They don't appreciate you, me, or anyone." Instead we have SuperCena BabyFace and Jon Bon Jericho. Blech.

And one from the archives....

"I think this is when WCW runs VKM out of business. They've got everyone and the more entertaining product. They've got this." Insert Jarrett/Russo/big egos/Fingerpoke of Doom. That's not a whoopie cushion you hear.

I don't blame you for thinking the way you did about Daniel Bryan. He's everything Vince doesn't like - he's not 6'6" and 300 pounds of chiseled muscle, he's not really a great promo and he's not a 'home grown talent' - yet he got over and became champion. Based on the number of guys from WCW, ECW and TNA who never seemed to get pushed in WWE, I think a lot of people thought the same would happen to Bryan.

Matt Morgan and Nathan Jones.I thought they where going to destroy everyone for YEARS after being mentored by Taker and Kane...well Jones freaked out and went back home to Australia, and Morgan became and American Gladiator and a mid card Jobber at TNA. I'd still love to see Morgan back in the WWE as a legit "7 Foot" monster heel.

My first one would be D. Bryan. I just didnt get all the hype. He just didnt have the look that I thought he need to stand out. his promos didnt do anything. But I was wrong. Great in ring work, his promos are good, enough to get a YES chant everywhere and at any sport.

after Hart, Shawn Michaels, Austin (not a huge guy), Guerrero, Jericho, Punk, and Daniel Bryan all have gotten pretty big pushes by getting over, I thought the IWC would stop with this bogus assumption that Vince only likes big guys and realize that he likes over guys. I was wrong.

I thought the WWE would be stupid and keep Punk off TV for too long when he was getting massively over. Instead, they struck when the iron was hot and now he's super over.

I thought Panda Energy would have fired Dixie Carter and hire someone to run TNA like a business and not like an internet markish fantasy booker bullshit promotion. I was wrong, goddamn nepotism.

I thought ROH would continue to churn out new stars and be smart enough to not try to look like a sport or to be dull or to rely on fighting spirit spots and headdrops. Was wrong about that.

I thought Rock would lose to Cena at Mania, was wrong (in hindsight, for the better).

I thought Cena would lose to Brock, was wrong (probably for the better).

I think more than anything. I thought that the internet would eventually start seeing pro wrestling as fun instead of constantly bitching. Was wrong.

I thought I'd eventually stop hating the IWC, was wrong.

I thought John Morrison would have shown up on TNA and been given the token "I WAS MISUSED BUT I'M NOT OVER" push. Has he? I really don't know.

I thought Sting would have come to the WWE by now.

I never thought Lesnar would come back.

I thought Batista would be back by now, realizing nobody gives a shit about him.

Yea, I've been wrong about a lot in all aspects of wrestling from how the IWC reacts to how certain guys are booked and how they act.
