3. he drove away from the scene to the practice facility
4. He had a conversation with team officials
5. He shot and killed himself.


You're trying to make the situation out to be "Oh no, my girlfriend did something terrible, so I am gonna murder her, then kill myself so as to make sure no one knows what bad thing the woman did."

And there was no heat of the moment in his suicide. He drove to a specific location, had a specific conversation with team officials, then offed himself (doing the world a favor). Even if you consider the murder in the heat of the moment, the deliberate actions afterwards are completely premeditated.
